  • On the outside edge its called arch problem ? many skates have that problem , i had it myself , You can either get different insole or just mold them ! Not sure those skates are heat moldable right ?

  • @HockeyTutorialFrance They are heat moldable, but in doing so, it breaks down the boot. The application for applying heat to these boots is not readily available. Xtreme Ice Skating is an emerging sport. The infrastructure is not in place such as skate ovens. A skate shop is not going to do that for a skate they didn't sell. Appreciate the advice though.

  • Dan, I love your attention to detail. Love has obviously gone into making these boots.

  • Sorta like a figure skate/hockey skate hybrid.Looking good Dan.

  • @TboneNYC10 Thanks dude. I could take out the lace books and put in eyelets instead to make it look more like a hockey skate, but if I do that, the skate won't be as good. Those lace hooks allow greater control over tightening of the skates.

  • @Prolite Looking forward to seeing them in action.

  • can I buy them in the future?

  • @Myxoske Yes, absolutely.

  • Agreed they are beautiful skates. They're way better than I thought they would be. Are there any measures you've taken to keep the toes/feet from getting wet? Are the skates breathable?

Good luck with the finished product. I'm thinking of ordering one nearer the time.

  • @MagnificentKot I'm thinking about applying a "leather and frabric waterproof spray" to the boot, at least on the toes for that matter. And yes, the skates are breathable. And because they're breathable, they make my toes cold if I'm not active on the ice :( So therefore, there's no middle ground. Thanks for the support. Any more ideas, let me know.

  • @Prolite Thank you for that. Please keep us updated on the latest.

  • @MagnificentKot Ok I just put the skates under my sink faucet and the water is repelled by the leather. Than I applied water-resistant material but it didn't seem to make a difference. I'm actually more concerned about someone's feet getting cold.

  • @Prolite Oooh sorry I meant, when I take my Bauer boots off, I always find after a session or two that my socks are wet. That's the only downside to skating as it means I end up washing my socks after every session. But it might be a good thing that the feet are cold if you're not active on the ice? I'm guessing it would prevent the socks from getting wet?

  • @MagnificentKot I'm not sure how to prevent water from getting it. Snow could easily get in from the top and snake it's way into the tongue area. There's nothing I can do to prevent that.

  • @Prolite Yes, I think you're right. I'd not really thought of that before. Anyhooo, I'll ask the skate shop here if they'll take a few. I'll order one nearer the time personally. Thanks again for everything. Enjoy your day.

  • do you pay per prototype or until you get the final skate?

  • @ScyberSpace I have to pay for every prototype. And I have for all materials of course, including the "lasts."

  • These skates are beautiful.

  • @patinajesobrehielo The skates are gorgeous. The more I look at these the more I feel the need to have.

  • @MagnificentKot Thanks. Wait until I put stickers on them bladeholders, and printed wording on the "X".

  • @Prolite Dan, did you think about autographing the first few boots? That would be awesome as they could become collectors items some years from now.

  • @MagnificentKot Only if someone requests it.
