i dont have a teacher at the moment so im half-slef taught (i was thaught one year)... do you have any tips for practicing i feel like im not getting anywhere... thx
@SCHneeWill Well if you can't find a qualified teacher in your area better start looking for someone who can teach you by webcam.I tried a lesson by webcam and it works.
@SCHneeWill Tbh, this is one of the best ways to learn. Watch the video, and then take it to the practice pad. Or you can download the video and then play while watching.
@CarlosMacMartin the difference is that Jojo's DVD costs money. And this guy is doing it for nada. Look around, you'll see hundreds of videos that teach these techniques. So are you posting your, "I already found this" comments there?
@0509killer You're getting a sample of what Alan would teach you in person. There's more to this than just 2 free video's can teach you.Yes,Jojo's video will cost you money. So what? If you went to Alan for
further clarification...guess what? You'd pay the same price for 1 lesson as the cost of Jojo's DVD.Plus Jojo's DVD contains tons of information that will keep people busy for the rest of their natural lives. So in response to your question Yes, "I've already found this".
Very nice! There are a great many videos and DVDs that purport to 'teach' technique but really do little more than 'show' the end result and serve to showcase the poster/artist. You do a great job of actually giving actionable instruction that a student can put directly into practice. This is so important to facilitate actual learning. Thank you. I'll look forward to more.

Awesome technique and explanations but I found most of this material on Jojo
Mayer's DVD "Secret Weapons For The Modern Drummer".
