  • this is.....really fast....i like it

  • oh...my...gosh >.<

  • This is excellent! Great performance! While it's a bit faster than I like, you played it with an extremely high level of skill at a faster tempo. Congratulations!

  • Sounds great(: my high school band is playing this for graduation stuff. we play it at 112 but we always end up going this fast by the end. Haha!

  • Damn, I remember my middle school band trying to pull this off, we failed spectacularly. Dx

  • i am playing this song in orchestra this year, it is very fun!

  • i should have said 1982...i was playing baritone and couldn't have love a piece of music more!!!!

  • baritones rock!!!!! LOVED THIS in 1983!!!!!

  • Go clarinets!!!

  • It is technically good, but this is not the tempo the composer indicates. It is a bit fast.

  • I have to DEFINITELY agree with mc0558! This is the best sound of this song on all youtube! The pace...the cleanliness...the tuning...wow...good job NBHS ;-)

  • yea saxophones

  • Go flutes!

  • Ive played this piece and its great. Once you get the hang of the constantly moving fingers its easy to play faster than suggested.

  • is this a highschool band or a middle school band? because it sounds like a highschool band but my middle school band played this last year for concert or as some places call it a symphonic band although we didnt play it as well, it still sounded good enough to earn us a superior rating at festival :)

  • Wow... I so wish our horns sounded like that in Silver Band right now.

  • @cutterwgonzalez Hahah, they will again. They just need more practice! :)

  • Obvioiusly, this is a fantastic ensemble. However, I think this group's ability could've been showcased 10 fold had the tempo been a bit slower. The whole performance sounds frantic and you can hear the players struggling to hold on. Sometimes directors get carried away and want to showcase the technical ability of their ensemble. That's the case here. Fantastic techincal facility. The musical message gets lost, however. This is a Procession, not a Race to the finish.

  • we're playing this piece next year (: and I can hear the trumpet parts, I'm already nervous about it O.o damn me being a trumpet and playing hard and high as hell parts :P

  • Very well played. We are playing this piece for contest this year.

  • What tempo did they take this at?

It sounds faster than 112- hahaha which is the suggeste, which is already crazy hard!

  • I actually do not remember what tempo we played the piece, it was a while back...

  • Ahh, this brings back memories.. If only I could go back 2 years...

  • What a great band! The tempo is fast but hey!, if you got it, flaunt it, and they do have it. Great director!

  • This is probably the best version on Youtube--even better than some of the professionals I listened to! You guys did a really good job. :)

  • Why did you take the video of this band off the tube and replace it with this dull card?

  • There are these things called audio recordings...

  • Comment removed

  • there was NEVER a video of this band on youtube. Wish there had been, but the sound quality would not have been nearly as great.

  • i love this song im playing it for the spring concert (seventh& eight graders) I'm the flute player and trust me this song is kinda hard for me but fun at the same time.

  • This song is just too much fun to play : D...(1st Trumpet)...awesome job for a high school band!

  • never mind for a high school band! this is the best performance of the procession on youtube at the moment. this Beth Bronk deserves a commendation for getting this kind of performance with kids, adults anyone. Congratulations to this orchestra! Bravaissimi!!!!!

  • amen to that. and my director wants to enter 4a honor band? ha. my butt.

  • She is definitely a wonderful director! And this is actually a band, not an orchestra. :)

  • great song to play and to listen to.

This version took out the great oboe solo in the middle. (I play 1st Oboe)

  • Jeesh! That was brave! =] but you pulled it off greatly, (I play 1st clarinet) =D

  • I play first clarinet too in my high school's second band and we're playing this peice. Its a difficult part but its an accomplished feeling being able to pull it off. Good luck to everyone.

  • Wow. this is amazing.

    it's so fast.

    great job!

  • Awesome! I was 3rd part french horn for this. There were some of the most awesome soloists that year! The french horn, trumpet, tuba, sax, oboe so many of the greatest players. I'm sad Beth Bronk left. She was such a great director!

And we sped it up so it would be more impressive, its not rushing.

  • Our 8th grade band just got this song last week, the recording our director showed us was slower... Sounds great though. Very exciting.

  • amazing song. favorite classical song. great job!

  • love this song :) my middle school is playing this song (i play trombone XD)

  • great job. it does sound alot better fast

  • thank you I didn't remember it bing so fast, but... I liked it too my fingers would have been tangled and my tounge tied lol this was my fist song for HS Band :)

  • I know it's not supposed to be so fast, but it sounds so much better!

  • Beautifully played and what a lively tempo! I like it ... but I agree with the many others who say it is a bit too fast. Remember this a triumphant procession with words (from the opera Mlada) and it was meant to be sung with a chorus.

  • a bit fast but u guys could do it! amazing tonguing! great job! we played it a bit slower and play the grade four version of it at middle school all district. i love this song. i think this version is grade 6.

  • rushed

  • where are the woodwinds:(

  • woodwinds are there. the flutes play the fast part.

  • the whole piece is fast, and clarinets and flutes share a lot of parts in this piece

  • <3 it!!!

  • excellent job on this song. I love the faster pace. it infuses so much more energy into it. playing this song at a slower pace just doesnt give it quite the same feel. ive heard this song played in london, paris, new york, and sydney. but this version i have to say ranks right up there with the best.

  • this version is played a little to fast for my liking but its still very good

  • I played this in 8th grade. During the concert, the 1st chair trumpet messed up in the solo. (I play clarinet)

I think that this video the song goes way to fast. It should be about 120 per beat.

  • I am in this band and I play the clarinet too.

  • its written at 104

  • this is a fun one

the trumpet part was great to learn

    hard to perform

but this is a nice recording

  • Not with a very strict director like ours it isn't. He can get us to do anything.

  • this is a fun one

the trumpet part was great to learn

    hard to perform

but this is a nice recording

  • Im playing this song in my school band. You guys are GREAT! we sound no where near this good. I'm also first chair so i have that solo. Whoever played that, was FLAWLESS it sounded awesome. i sound no where near that good playing the solo. anyway GREAT JOB!!!

  • Thanks for the compliment. This is the top band out of 4 in our school so of course we are good.

  • no the tempo is perfect. Great job with this.

  • of course my middle school band DID NOT sound this good, but its not like we were expected too...this band deserves much kudos. =)

  • this song is CRAZY mad props to whoever can play this bitch

  • thank you

  • nice played

a little bit to fast I think

    but it's good

  • Amazing, perfect, but a little too FAST don u think?

  • woow. I'm so happy to hear a recording of this, because my band teacher gave us this song. AND were a MIDDLE SCHOOl Adv. Band. *sigh* just a jumble of 7th and 8th graders, but I play first clarinet parts. I like the song and at first, I was overwhelmed by the part, but its not that hard. =]

so anyways, don't mind my ramble! I think all of you played it really really well! I'm gonna work hard!

  • MIDDLE SCHOOL?!?!! ARE YOU SERIOUS>?!? OMG i'm like a sophomore in high school and I pulled this piece out from my freshmen year of region band (which we ended up sucking at) and like even now I can BARELY play it

  • hmm...well our version is a slightly easier one, the change in tempo at around 78 is much shorter in ours, but other than that, our teacher said our version is really close to this one.

it really isn't that hard, there's a lof of repetition and playing around with some of the same melodies, so once you get that down, its easy.

  • i <3 it i wish the band im in could play it this well

  • brilliant!!

  • Where's the video? A fantastic rendition, no less!

  • Beautiful!

  • I want to thank everyone for leaving such lovely posts. It truly means a lot to me and I'm sure it means a lot to the rest of the band members. :D

    Keep making beautiful music everyone!

  • That comment was directed towards monkeyhihi. Just so you don't think I was talking about the video.

  • haha, that comment cracked me up. :P

  • Your orchestra is playing it slow.

  • It seems a bit fast, or maybe my orchestra's just playing it slow.

    *shrugs*

  • there aren't many postings of this piece on youtube, but this one is by far the best! perfect tempo! sounds great!

  • but still kick ass

  • wow u played this really fast it sounds almost too fast then it should and ive played this song as 1st trumpet its not the easiest song ever

  • You guys are awsome! My band played this song and it is really hard...I still can't play it.

    FLUTES RULE!!!!

  • we are learning how to play this song as a full symphony orchestra. it will be awesome. :)

  • The only think I could never get down was the F trill at 2:37. Easiest way is supposed to be a lip trill 1&3 valve F to G. So I just played a straight tone and use a fast vibrato. I'm a bit jealous of this recording ;P

  • awesome so clear

  • this band kicks butt!

  • we played this....but this sounds so much better.

i think we played it a tad bit slower tempo

  • the honors orchestra winds played this! they were really good

  • we're playing this in middle school but only 4 of us can play it

  • this is one of my favorite marches..really good solid performance

  • it's a march?

  • we played this in high school also

  • you guys r gooooooooood

  • I went to this High School, our band was Kickass.

  • trumpets light up the stage heck yes

    !!!!!!!!!

  • we playin this to but we suck !!!!!!

  • Awesome!!!

  • TRUMPETS! hell yea, son! =P

i have to play this for syphonic band audition...i hope i beat all the seniors again, like i did this year. (i'm a sophomore. =P)

  • It's a good piece for trumpet. Kick butt!

  • thnx! ....but i didn't. damn!!

  • Iplayed this in District my 8th grade year. Good song. Awesome Russian history, right here and then a good horn part = OH YEA!

  • I'm the first cornet player. This song rules.

  • Love this song we took this to district festival, I feel we could have done better. Great recording of a great song

  • Good job. This was my favorite piece when I was in band.

  • me too what do you play ...i play baritone B.C.

  • Wow...this band has definitely gotten better since I was there from 95-99. Good Job!

  • My band is playing it right now too. Trumpet for life.

  • we're playin this 2 but we don't quite have the trumpet solo down but it rocks. FRENCH HORNS FOREVER!

  • Nice job, were playing this in band and it doesn't sound even close to this. Are trumpets suck.:)
