I've got the Zi6. Beautiful picture and color, but no built-in stabilizer. So have been using a small Bogen tripod and a small cheap video head ($30) to give it some semblance of fluidity. It works good enough so I don't get annoyed while viewing playbacks. But thanks for the posts. Also was confused with the settings - initially - using the toggle. I think HD is 720p at 30 frames per second. HD60 is 60fps.

Have had the Zi6 for 2 years. After 2 years the video is still as clear. Get the 32 Gig card, 4gig fills up way to fast on the HD60 mode.

It just broke today, the usb connection just broke.

I like the Zi6 so much I am looking into the Zi8

I was expecting that when you did the side by side video comparison, you were "shocked" because the Flip was better. How can you possibly say the Kodak is superior!?

Look at the highlights. On the Kodak, every highlight is "blown" and the sky is white rather than blue. There is no detail at all in the highlight areas. But the Flip retains a great deal of highlight detail and a blue sky and even a bit more shadow detail. The Kodak has no dynamic range.

well 1st off i can sat what ever i fukin want and is wasnt blah blah blah dumb ass.second when you call kodak customer service 1st thing you hear is that there support center is in a disaster zone and you cant get phone help right now.and third off even after 2 firmware updates the camera still had the zoom and go dark problam .i finaly got through to kodak and they told me it was a bad unit send it in.i had had it for less then a week.got the flip mino hd120 and its a great camera.

Ya'll shouldn't be sad if you got the Mino. It's about what you wanna use it for. If you wanna use it for short lil videos, I'd say go for the Mino. The Mino HD is very clear. I guess Kodak is clearer but it's not like the Flip doesn't give a good picture

the mino HD is real HD if you plug it into the computer with the awesome usb connector it already has then you will see it already has a editing software and it's HD is just beautiful i personally think mino HD is better

yellow effect, small screen, low memory, NOT real HD,audio quality is so so...pricy

kodak zi6:

bigger but small enough,big screen,clear quality,real HD,cheaper,great audio quality,allows AA batteries which is handy!

I got the creative Vado hd which for me, is better than these two, but i am going to review that kodak as well

So, once I got looking into this, I realized that with the lack of memory in the Kodak, it works out to almost the same price. Unless I'm crazy. Also, doesn't the Kodak lack a rechargeable built in battery? I like those, and find the OTC rechargeables stink. anyway, I'd rather just have it built in. Plus it's smaller.

Im not sold on this side-by-side because 1) no examples of how the cameras handle panning, 2) no comparison of how each handles low-light, and 3) Ive seen way better examples of MinoHD elsewhere on youtube so wondering what Wired did differently. Dont worry, i actually returned my Zi6 and got the Mino, The Zi6 skipped frames. The mino handles lowlight situations much better. Also the picture difference you see between the two is just "contrast" which can be easily fixed with the A/V window in Quicktime. it takes two seconds to adjust the contrast to match the Zi6.. try it out

I shouldn't say "the main reason" people are buying these; it's one reason. They are good for people with HD TV, for playing back clips. It all depends on what you want, what you need. BTW, good video, guys. The Kodak is better, but the software sucks. "Make Movie" feature on Kodak software is lousy! If you like using windows Movie Maker, forget it. MOV files from Kodak do not load into Movie Maker. You're forced to use Kodak's "Make Movie" which sucks. Flip Mino probably isn't any better.

Also try to convert .mov to .avi through windows media player classic. I use it to convert .flv to .avi for loading youtube videos in windows movie maker.

The main reason people are buying these is to upload videos to You Tube. But, I found out that uploading HD content is really slooooo. The MOV files are large at about 1 MB per second of recorded time. Uploading time isn't the worst part about HD to You Tube, it''s the processing time. I uploaded a 15 second clip and several minutes later it still wasn't done processing it. If you have nothing to do other than waste a lot of time loading videos I guess its ok, but the 640 is fine.
