I've seen this movie. And I enjoy it. As a Pole, for me it was bit refreshing watching movie were Poles are bed guys. Żebrowski (polish actor) was propobly very happy to play bed guy cos it not the role he often play..

You lie. Sweds didn't have war against poland. In July 1610 Shuiskiy was removed from power and power was passed to "semiboyarshina",(power of 7 boyars). They signed treaty with Polish King Sigizmund III about election of his son Vladislav as tzar of Russia if he will become orthodox christian. Therefore polish army entered Moscow without any battle, it was decision of moscow authorities.

A co do Stalina - po pierwsze był Gruzinem - po drugie jest odpowiedzialny za śmierć większej ilości Rosjan niż Polaków. Po trzecie - jego ulubiona powieść polityczna (i ulubiona książką w ogóle) to "Faraon" - więc trochę możemy mieć pretensji do Prusa, o to że Stalin tak dobrze opanował swoje rzemiosło.

The problem with Russia is that it sees themselfes as in oposition to the west... Any aspect of western influence is perceived as a threat to Russian survival. But it is not the survival that Russia is worry about, its actually her decressing influence in eastern Europe.
For Poles on the other hand it is Russia that is considered biggest theread...

We must remember about history (also about crimes which were commited - and that Russian leaderships don't want to take responsibility for - i'm talking about Katyn).
But we also must fight with our animosities to each other, and remember that more things links us than differs us.
It is not only between Poles and Russians that we don't like each other very much - it is common among neighbours (for example - English and French, Romanians and Hungarians, Americans and Mexicans, etc.).

About Katyn I once again shall repeat. There are innocent victims of Katyn and massacre of Poles in the Western Ukraine. If Poles like to speak much about Katyn, on glorification UPA in Ukraine - close eyes. Stalinizm is our Russian tragedy, and in Ukraine UPA - heroes. Poland prefers to be friends with a present authority of Ukraine against Russia and behaves not essentially. Certainly in ours eyes this all looks as unscrupulous chatter and the vile tender.

A film of this calibre about soviet russian atrocities against Ukrainians is long overdue. A film about Vinnytsia is a start, followed by the NKVD murders in Western Ukraine 1939-41, Bykivnia forest outside of Kyiv contains 200,000 bodies of NKVD victims from 1936-39, a far higher body count than Babyn Yar.

We remember about the western Ukraine and i don`t like this situation with UPA showed as a heroes without any criticism. Why you think that haveing good relations with Ukraine is against Russia? Have you had objections when Kwaśniewski was in verry good relations with Kuchma (drinking etc.)? The problem is that Russia doesn`t like present administration. Yes, misbehaveing, what about that embargo and other gestures from Russia?

Yes - but still Russians and communists are not equal - remember about it. Their leaders persecuted Russians as much as other nations (for example Stalin - he is responsible for the death of far more Russians than for example Poles).

Yes, Russians and Poles captured Berlin together in 1945... But only 5 years earlier Soviet Russian leadership executed falf of Polish military and intelectual elite...those that was rightist and capitalist, and was considered ideologically enemy and hence inconvenient to communist totalitarian Russia.
We, would be friends if Russia let Poland, be independent after war, and remain part of the West.

I think that we - Poles and Russians - shouldn't be divided because of our stupid politicians (who - i must say this - definietly don't like each other :) ) - fuck Miedwiejew & Putin, fuck Kaczynski - we are Slav brothers - and more things splits us together than divides us - for example Vodka, good humour sense, both our nations are TOUGH, we were always both - GOOD SOLDIERS.
We had stormed Berlin together in 1945!! We fighting against each other, but also together in our history!

Btw - your culture had taken a lot from Polish civilization. In XVIth century much more books in Cirilic were printed in Poland than in Russia. During the XVIth century in Poland more than 6,000 books were published. In Russia - hard to believe - only 17 - all religious.

British Imperialism was actually benefitious for Africa, so was Spanish and Portugese imperialism for South Africa and Asia.
Polish Imperialism was good for Lithuania, Ukraine, Latvia, and part of Russia, because as you see for example western (Polish) side of Ukraine is now more civilised and developed thanks to being once part of Poland...On the other hand Eastern (Russian) occupied part of Ukraine is now backward and looks like "Caucasus" because of being occupied by Russia.

Thanks to Soviet central planning and Russification. Keep the Ukrainian language in the villages and russify the cities and industry. Ukraine lost way more under Russian rule than it gained, both interms of standard of living and the human cost used to achieve it.

The legacy of Soviet central planning was to concentrate only selected specific types of industries in a given soviet republic so as to prevent one republic from being self sufficient. Maximum investment and development in russified eastern Ukraine and little in central or western Ukraine. The legacy of colonialism and absence of a free market economy. Donbas was part of the Zaporozhian Cossack lands settled by Ukrainians.

Moscow institution falsely called "the court" presented a verdict in a trail filed by the families of the victims of Katyn ( 25 000 of Polish officers and governement workers exekuted by Russian NKVD on Stalin order.
Moscow court concluded, that; "the only victims (which are all dead) themselves can file the case and ask for compensation. Case dismissed". They say that in Russia people are dispensible...theres no respect for human life whatsoever.

Russians are the real slavs in europe. we're totaly independent politicaly and economicaly. we have our own money, other countrys depend on us. in reality whoever knows economics would know that, just by closing ties with germany, germany is gonna be third world country. :) just by stopping the gas and oil trade with them is enough :) people will starve in poland and germany.

Russia never needed US' help in WW2. In case you didn't know Russia did very well against Germany. Germany invaded Russia, that's true, but they fought back and took back the land. During WW2 Germany was nothing against Russia.

The basic addressee Lend-Lease was England. In USSR the help of USA was always underestimated, in USA was always exaggerated. The main help was not the weapon, but lorries. The American weapon was badly estimated in Red army. I read, that Stalin wrote to Roosevelt - "not necessary tanks, send lorries." The American journalist during fight under Stalingrad saw only a few the American lorries and all. And helping the USSR you saved not us, you saved your asses, by a life of Russian soldier.
