@mjlives25 I eat it, too, and I've never had a bad side effect. I eat the non-toxic white chalk from Crayola. I used to have stomach problems, some causing me to scream in literal agony. My mother gave me heat pads to help my stomach, but I found the only thing that prevents it calms it down is eating chalk. I don't recommend making a meal out of it for obvious reasons, but I don't think it could harm you all that much. I mean really, antacids do the same thing, right? And chalk is cheaper. :)

I eat chalk all the time. i buy 100 packs and the lady at the school supply store supplies me with my specific brand. its yummy!!!!!! i carry a piece everywhere i go. I eat ice too, any type of ice and yes, i have pica at 21 years old. That looked delicious by the way.

i like chalk. i eat them every day. i like the taste of chalk especialy the an-du-septic ones they tast so good. i buy chalk on ebay alot. i spent a lot of money per month buying chalk. crayola an-du-septic. please don't swallow the chalk, chew it for the taste and spit it out

@cslim1989 I eat chalk, too. I think it stems from the fact that when I was little, I was a vegetarian... so I was mineral deficient. I would eat dirt and then when I was at school, I had a fascination for the chalk dust that collects in chalkboard trays. Last year I had major stomach problems that literally felt like someone was jumping on my stomach. I found that eating chalk soothed it, so whenever i felt that pain coming on, I kept chalk with me. Now, I eat it because it soothes me.

@fridaalady I said mineral deficient, not just iron. You could have been deficient in something else. I watched many programs on it. Doctors say that when you crave something abnormal or otherwise considered inedible, its because you are deficient in specific vitamins or minerals, often stemmed from lack of a certain kind of food. That's where it usually starts. Pica is a form of obsession developed from it. I ate chalk because of my childhood, and found later its just the same as tums. :P

@fridaalady Not necessarily.. you could just be craving juice. And doctors justify the craving of abnormal things with deficiency which could be true in most cases... but I just like the taste. I really don't think chalk is very problematic. Even if you chew and swallow it, like I do, your body breaks it down. Tissue can clog your intestine, and chemicals like Comet (that I've seen people actually eat) can destroy your teeth... and of course metals can cause internal bleeding.
