Nice bottom, Mel. Don, thats a right foot with attitude! And Mark, I don't know what happened in Flint back when you 3 once met, but that must have been a hell of a church you went to.
I haven't heard this song in 30 years and wow, the guitar and vocals blow me away. The lyrics are just ok but Mark Farner was just a kid when he recorded this.
i'v been listening to 60's 70's music all my life.. this new age is generally crap with a few exeptions.. I was born in the wrong time and my friends are starting to agree. grand funk railroad, ten years after, jefferson airplane, canned heat, lee michaels just to name a few.
I too grew up with this music and I always wished they could have gotten the drums fat in the mix like the bass. E Pluribus Funk was my fave GFR power trio record.
WOW! Thanks for this post...one of my favorite's of Grand Funk. Takes me back to my great college era of 1967-1972. In between protests, marches, and revolutions, it was nice to come home and put this album on. 'she lays it on me each and every night' oh yeah.....!!!!
Heard this album for the very first time on a Late Night AM Radio station (50k KAAY). Went out the very next day and bought the 8 track. Rolled a few with this one
I lay my life on the line and she steps up right beside me
I'm in my late fifties and I finally don't have to sing the blues no more...and I've sung a lot of blues.

Good choice. One of the first things I learned was both the main rhythm guitar part and then the lead at the end of I'm Your Captain.
