@MrImastinker Really? and who told you this, your teachers in school, or MSNBC? Do you who opened the first poor houses with a fully functional Kitchen for everyone (not just whites) in the United States? Hint: It was not the Dem's. Do you know who pushed for tax cuts in the 80's, late 90's and today? Hint: 100% of the Dem's voted against the tax cut extension. Get the facts before you decide to spout other people's lies.
@BondFreek 1: I was joking, I don't believe ALL the Republicans want us to die, the ones in power just don't care.
2: The Republican stance for the past couple decades has been for the rich. They pushed last year to keep the Bush-era tax cuts, cuts for the richest 2 percent of people in the country that IMMENSELY contributed to the recession. They also pushed for the Iraq war, a big mistake.
@MrImastinker No you were not joking. And where are you getting this ground breaking information? As for who told me who voted against the tax cuts, I looked it up myself. You just need to go to House of representitves dot o r g... are any other government web site that reports the votes.
@MrImastinker And how would you help the poor? Would you make bigger government and make them more reliant on the government for support, or would you take a more conservative approach and help them to help themselves? The rich higher people when they are making money not when they are paying for your meals and shelter through taxes.
@MrImastinker So the rich demanded a war in Iraq…Wow… I had no idea that the government elected by the people and for the people were controlled by the conspiring 1% rich. WOW I suppose McDonald’s, Wal*mart, All the Banks, all the Car companies from around the world, Hollywood and all the Computer companies were in on it. Just wondering, but after affording his car (or two), cell phone, cigarettes, beer at the bar, 8 year old's cell phone, high speed internet, computer, big screen TV, xbox 360, and 4 bedroom apartment, how did you expect him to afford health insurance lol? With all that other "Must have to live" stuff the government needs to buy his health care.
@LilGK23 Take a ride or, if you feel like getting shot, a walk down your local ghetto and tell me it isn't true. Look inside at the big screen TVs, look at the driveway's with 3-4 cars, watch the people talking on cell phones, and observe half the population literally burning 5 dollars a pack cigarettes all day long.
Afterwards, tell me I need to pay for their healthcare by raising my taxes. GTFO.
Yeah believe it or not I've been in the ghetto ( as in lived there) so from my experience, it's not true. However, your experience may be different, as it seems to have been. Sure there's people who fit that description but to generalize a whole population by that is uncalled for, no?

Now bitch, when you whore mother comes in late at night after sucking all those dicks, does she smell like tuna? Bet she smells better than Nick, the dead motherfucker he is! Too bad i couldn't stomp Nick before he died, I would of liked to do that!
@ShieldWall76 What, did you ask your stepfather to write this? It took you a while after I owned you with the "awful truth" that YOUR PREZ IS A BLACK MUSLIM you motherfucker turd. And just for the record I am actually more white than you and your friends combined (not that I'm bragging about my race, mind you). You can't compare what you don't have, garbage.
And why do you ask that about my mom, yours does? And nobody cares or wants to know about what you used to do with your special friend!
@MasterMacLeod No, I asked your whore mother to write this before I paddled her ass and dropped a load down her throat. My president? "Looks around" - I see no "president" here. Ohhh, your referring to the US president, well, I simple don't recognize "it", so that make your dumbshit, racist statement null and void.
BRB
Back, I was pissing on Nick's corpse.
Don't be mad that noone gives two shits about your country full of idiots, you can always come the the US and cut my grass, bitch. Dismised.
@ShieldWall76 Why didn't you asked your mom? Was it because you saw her receiving that treatment you're describing so graphically from me? Haha! Seems to be quite a vivid image, isn't it? And BTW, it doesn't matter if you recognize him or not because that does not change the fact that YOUR PREZ IS BLACK AND YOU DONT LIKE IT BCUZ YOURE KKKRAP.
@ShieldWall76 So I assume you're a 100% pure white caucasian middle class person. Right, because there are such things as 100% white people in the US. Wake up, you fucking idiot. You're garbage.
@MasterMacLeod Yup,middle class, and 100% white, you know, what the whole world aspires to be. Fucking proud of it too, wouldn't have it any other way. Never committed a single crime, never collected a single govt. benefit, pay my taxes. so clearly, I'm the fucking problem.... man you are one dumb ass motherfucker.
Only bitch round here that need to wake up is you, you fucking retard. Fuck you, fuck your dad, and fuck Nicholas, bitch.Fucking foreign scum, you are not even worthy to speak to me.
@ShieldWall76 You are not white. If I took time to trace through your pathetic genealogical tree, I'd find at least ten people of the race you hate oh so much (and this includes the ten men that slept with your mother when she conceived you). And racism is a moral crime, so there goes your "proud record".
And BTW, you don't get to fuck them as much as I did your mother. Half breed. Hahaha.
The only film this needed was a bigger budget, so they could have added greater special effects to lure in a larger audience. The story was pitch-perfect (although I would have liked more exploration of the characters involved in the conspiracy and greater fleshing out of General Chang). This was a masterpiece for Trek films, though. The Wrath of Khan, Undiscovered Country, First Contact, and now the new film are the best Trek films to date -- in that order.
awesome acting by Shatner. It pisses me off when people question Shatner's talent as a serious actor, he was damn good, and especially in Trek 6. Charismatic, exciting and just brilliant. its a pity the new cast for the last movie doesn't have the same charisma. Karl Urban is the one guy who delivered in the new Trek though. He channelled Bones like a pro!
@SPeacock They try to explain that in the 2009 movie, because he says something about bones when they are in the shuttle going up to the station. But I don't think they ever mentioned anything about it in TOS, other then the obvious fact that he's a doctor.
Actually, I remember this line it stuck out really well, and I thought it was well done. It was so shocking and not like Kirk (this is the guy who even tried to save the killer of his boy before "I ... have had... enough of .. YOU!").
I think Shatner even made it come across that the statement shocked Kirk after he said it.
People need to listen to what's inside them. Because if they deny what's inside them, they won't ever be able to change it.
After many years of genuine sincerity towards my so call cousins and relatives, I'm so dumb and stupid I realised they used me and my family for their own gain. So, yes this is how I feel now and forever towards them.
This was by far the best of the Trek movies. Probably because the actors were challenged to portray such racist sentiments. And because Shatner wasn't directing (Thank you God!).
This really is my favorite of the movies- SUCH a good story, and well done. As for the directing, Shatner is not at all the worst- #5 is not nearly as bad as Nemesis or Generations.
well the klingon soldiers are all like the klingons that killed david. Kirk had the right to be mad and hate them forever since they gave him nothing but trouble in TOS and they robbed him of his only son in the 3rd movie. The klingons should be lucky kirk didn't go nuts and start laying waste to the empire.
Apparently, many of the cast members were not happy with the racist dialogue they had to deliver. William Shatner objected to the "Let them die" line, but director Nicholas Meyer insisted that he deliver it.
Chekov's line, "Guess who's coming to dinner" - a reference to the 1960s film about race relations - was originally supposed to come from Uhara. Nichelle Nichols refused to say it.
Brock Peters could barely get the "alien trash of the galaxy" line out of his mouth.
well, I think it's good they shot it this way through! Because you can hear the wrongness of that statements and you are forced to think about racism.
@Farqual0071 Yes, this is very good character writing. It gives him a depth that Picard doesn't really have, who's mostly a puffed up intellect, a vision of Roddenberry's ideal human. Although, because of this, I do not like Kirk as a person. I would muuuuch rather meet with a blown-up ego than a genocidal racist.
i would think the cast wouldn't have minded. the entire point of the film is overcoming your racist attitude and believing in the greater good of everyone. at first kirk hated klingons. but in the end he agreed with the concept of the "undiscovered country" and what was at stake. kirk overcame his hate.
Frankly, I think Kirk's anonimity towards the Klingons is completely understandable, even though it should have been unacceptable in the Federation (possibly hence Spock's line theorising that he and Kirk have grown "so old and so inflexible" that they may have outlived their usefulness)... It such a shame Brock Peters' characters turned out to be a bad guy... My mother and I liked him very much in Star Trek IV...
Part of the point of this movie was to look at racism. Without those lines it would have been a fairly generic action movie and the point would have been lost.
@btm85bubs And that is sad that they made such a fuss about the lines. I thought that those particular lines of dialogue fit when viewed in the context of how the Federation and its citizens viewed the Klingon Empire at that particular point in history. The Federation, for all their preaching about embracing and understanding other cultures, still harbored racist views towards a species that was considered by them to be barbaric and hyper-militaristic.
@btm85bubs No offense, but I don't see how those lines are racist, apart from maybe the last one. Kirk had a hatred of Klingons because they had murdered his son. Chekov's line could be seen as positive given the breakdown of barriers and mistrust between the Klingons and the Federation.
@starlinej C'mon, all Klingons in Star Trek are pretty violent, and they have a culture which promotes violence. Kirk was wrong to hold an entire race directly responsible for the actions of a few, but he was right to distrust their violent culture, especially given what it had cost him personally.
I think this is actually very poetic because we saw kirk always as the tolerant, heroic man who does everything the right way. But in this scene they show that hes just human and that hate can change people so they forget about their ethics.
@GlitterXStarzz Kirk had reasons to express himself that way (the Klingons killed his son). You have no reasons whatsoever and are even more worthless than the people you hate. Faggot.
@MasterMacLeod Sorry to wade into an argument which doesn't concern me, but I can't help but notice that, after rightly chastising "ShieldWall76" for being a racist, you then used the homophobic term "faggot." To me, that's just as reprehensible as him using words like "nigger," and "foreign pond scum."
@MrHeslopian To me, homophobia is not racism, but I won't go around killing those people with a KKK gimmick. Look at wolves. Wolves are not homos. So, let's not get started on that unless we want a LOOONG flamewar, OK?
@MasterMacLeod And just like that, you prove you're as bad as ShieldWall; just as ignorant and mean. I don't know if homosexuality exists among wolves, though I do know it's present in the animal kingdom, but besides, even if there are no gay wolves, what bearing does that have on homophobia? You still used the word faggot, which proves you're prejudiced, and by saying that prejudice against gays isn't as bad as prejudice against black, you show that you think gays are less than human.
@MrHeslopian I try to be like the wolf I was meant to be. Of course there are prejudices, human mind is set to have them, but we have pretty much proven by now that black people is completely equal to white people (if we ignore the fact they're usually better at sports). We can't say the same things about preferences. And I don't think they're less than human. I think their choices are horrifying. Not the same thing.
@MasterMacLeod We have indeed proven that gay people are equal to straight; romantic preference is determined in the womb, by the balance of male and female hormones. Thus, sexuality isn't a choice. Tell me this, did you choose to be straight? If yes, then could you be gay if you wanted to be? And no, the human mind is not set to be prejudiced; prejudices are developed over time, as a result of ignorance and fear. By saying gays are not equal, you are saying that they're less than human.
@MrHeslopian We have proven that? Please redirect me to at least three different, believable sources stating what you're telling me to be true and I'll be more than happy to concede you this point- yes, that means I'm willing to accept you've owned me about this.
@MasterMacLeod The American Medical Association, The American Psychiatric Association, The American Psychological Association, The American Psychoanalytic Association, The American Academy of Pediatrics, and The National Association of Social Workers are among those which agree that sexuality isn't a choice. I know these are all American examples, but seriously, ask any competent medical doctor (without religious bias) and they'll tell you the same thing.
@MrHeslopian Yo, I've got to tell you something, dude. I've verified your links as you told me to. It still gives me goosebumps, but at least I now know better. You've done your homework well!
@MasterMacLeod Thank you, MasterMacLeod. :) If I've at least helped you see that gayness isn't a choice, then I feel like I've done a good deed. As for it still giving you goosebumps, that's cool. Gay sex will seem strange to a man who isn't gay himself!
@MasterMacLeod Sigmund Freud, though he believed that gayness was a result of childhood, also said that it couldn't be changed. Though really, ask yourself the question that I asked you: "Did you choose to be heterosexual, and if yes, does that mean you could choose to be gay?" I think you'll find your answer there, and if you approach it from an objective viewpoint, I think it'll be the same as mine and all those doctors'...
@MrHeslopian Well, Freud said every obsession was sexually originated. That shows you how trustable he was and why so much psychologists use his teachings nowadays (IE. zero. I've got some psychologist friends; I am aware everybody needs to go to one on ocassion, as well).
@MasterMacLeod How about challenging the other sources I gave you? Or answering my question about whether you could choose to be gay? I know a lot of Freud's theories have been invalidated, but all unbiased psychologists still concur with his idea that gayness can't be changed. I think the real reason behind your homophobia is that gay sex sickens you, and that you see it as the only aspect of a gay person's life. It isn't. We have thoughts and feelings beyond what we do with our genitals.
@MrHeslopian I didn't read the other comment because I didn't see it before, I'm sorry. I will check that out, and of course that sickens people. I know there's more to life, but it still grows.
@MasterMacLeod Ah I see, sorry, I forgot that when you publish two comments only one shows in the user's inbox. By the by, I said gay sex sickens you, not people in general.

MasterMacLeod 1 year ago

@ShieldWall76 You are not white.

He channelled Bones like a pro!
mugabesunny 1 year ago 15
@mugabesunny Here's a question: Why is Doctor McCoy nicknamed "Bones"?
SPeacock 1 year ago

This was by far the best of the Trek movies. Probably because the actors were challenged to portray such racist sentiments. And because Shatner wasn't directing (Thank you God!).
Shatnerpossum 2 years ago 5
This really is my favorite of the movies- SUCH a good story, and well done. As for the directing, Shatner is not at all the worst- #5 is not nearly as bad as Nemesis or Generations.
But you definitely have good taste!
BonesRodriguez 2 years ago
Better than Nemesis (but lets face it, so is suicide!), but I think Generations was a bit better if only for Patrick Stewart's awesome acting.
You've gotta love "What does God... need with a spaceship?" though!

SerenaDilandau 2 years ago 11
wasnt the whole Klingon Empire that killed David though...just a bunch of renegades
JordanSayz 1 year ago
well the klingon soldiers are all like the klingons that killed david. Kirk had the right to be mad and hate them forever since they gave him nothing but trouble in TOS and they robbed him of his only son in the 3rd movie. The klingons should be lucky kirk didn't go nuts and start laying waste to the empire.

@MrHoppers002 racism is racism. two wrongs make no right which he discovered in VI
JordanSayz 1 year ago
true but no one said you can't hold a grudge forever.
MrHoppers002 1 year ago
Apparently, many of the cast members were not happy with the racist dialogue they had to deliver. William Shatner objected to the "Let them die" line, but director Nicholas Meyer insisted that he deliver it.
Chekov's line, "Guess who's coming to dinner" - a reference to the 1960s film about race relations - was originally supposed to come from Uhara. Nichelle Nichols refused to say it.
Brock Peters could barely get the "alien trash of the galaxy" line out of his mouth.
btm85bubs 2 years ago 37
well, I think it's good they shot it this way through! Because you can hear the wrongness of that statements and you are forced to think about racism.
Farqual0071 2 years ago 8
@Farqual0071 Yes, this is very good character writing. It gives him a depth that Picard doesn't really have, who's mostly a puffed up intellect, a vision of Roddenberry's ideal human. Although, because of this, I do not like Kirk as a person. I would muuuuch rather meet with a blown-up ego than a genocidal racist.
Phelan666 8 months ago
I'm glad they kept the lines though. it really sold the story's message and gave the 'ideal' future some human flaws
cmanning525 2 years ago 6
i would think the cast wouldn't have minded. the entire point of the film is overcoming your racist attitude and believing in the greater good of everyone. at first kirk hated klingons. but in the end he agreed with the concept of the "undiscovered country" and what was at stake. kirk overcame his hate.
porkboy696 2 years ago 5
Very interesting. Thanks for the information.

@btm85bubs

Tyrium7798 1 year ago
@btm85bubs And that is sad that they made such a fuss about the lines. I thought that those particular lines of dialogue fit when viewed in the context of how the Federation and its citizens viewed the Klingon Empire at that particular point in history. The Federation, for all their preaching about embracing and understanding other cultures, still harbored racist views towards a species that was considered by them to be barbaric and hyper-militaristic.
Fbueller129 10 months ago
@btm85bubs No offense, but I don't see how those lines are racist, apart from maybe the last one. Kirk had a hatred of Klingons because they had murdered his son. Chekov's line could be seen as positive given the breakdown of barriers and mistrust between the Klingons and the Federation.
jimbopumbapigsticks 9 months ago
@jimbopumbapigsticks "Kirk had a hatred of Klingons because they had murdered his son."
That's pretty racist... hating an entire group of people because of the violent actions of a few Klingons?
Even Kirk admitted he was wrong at the end of the movie.
starlinej 9 months ago
@starlinej C'mon, all Klingons in Star Trek are pretty violent, and they have a culture which promotes violence. Kirk was wrong to hold an entire race directly responsible for the actions of a few, but he was right to distrust their violent culture, especially given what it had cost him personally.

Grykus7 2 years ago 6
I think this is actually very poetic because we saw kirk always as the tolerant, heroic man who does everything the right way. But in this scene they show that hes just human and that hate can change people so they forget about their ethics.

@GlitterXStarzz Kirk had reasons to express himself that way (the Klingons killed his son). You have no reasons whatsoever and are even more worthless than the people you hate. Faggot.
MasterMacLeod 1 year ago
@MasterMacLeod Sorry to wade into an argument which doesn't concern me, but I can't help but notice that, after rightly chastising "ShieldWall76" for being a racist, you then used the homophobic term "faggot." To me, that's just as reprehensible as him using words like "nigger," and "foreign pond scum."
MrHeslopian 1 year ago
@MrHeslopian To me, homophobia is not racism, but I won't go around killing those people with a KKK gimmick. Look at wolves. Wolves are not homos. So, let's not get started on that unless we want a LOOONG flamewar, OK?
MasterMacLeod 1 year ago
@MasterMacLeod And just like that, you prove you're as bad as ShieldWall; just as ignorant and mean. I don't know if homosexuality exists among wolves, though I do know it's present in the animal kingdom, but besides, even if there are no gay wolves, what bearing does that have on homophobia? You still used the word faggot, which proves you're prejudiced, and by saying that prejudice against gays isn't as bad as prejudice against black, you show that you think gays are less than human.
MrHeslopian 1 year ago
@MrHeslopian I try to be like the wolf I was meant to be. Of course there are prejudices, human mind is set to have them, but we have pretty much proven by now that black people is completely equal to white people (if we ignore the fact they're usually better at sports). We can't say the same things about preferences. And I don't think they're less than human. I think their choices are horrifying. Not the same thing.
MasterMacLeod 1 year ago
@MasterMacLeod We have indeed proven that gay people are equal to straight; romantic preference is determined in the womb, by the balance of male and female hormones. Thus, sexuality isn't a choice. Tell me this, did you choose to be straight? If yes, then could you be gay if you wanted to be? And no, the human mind is not set to be prejudiced; prejudices are developed over time, as a result of ignorance and fear. By saying gays are not equal, you are saying that they're less than human.
MrHeslopian 1 year ago
@MrHeslopian We have proven that? Please redirect me to at least three different, believable sources stating what you're telling me to be true and I'll be more than happy to concede you this point- yes, that means I'm willing to accept you've owned me about this.
MasterMacLeod 1 year ago
@MasterMacLeod The American Medical Association, The American Psychiatric Association, The American Psychological Association, The American Psychoanalytic Association, The American Academy of Pediatrics, and The National Association of Social Workers are among those which agree that sexuality isn't a choice. I know these are all American examples, but seriously, ask any competent medical doctor (without religious bias) and they'll tell you the same thing.
MrHeslopian 1 year ago
@MrHeslopian Don't worry about the religious bias (you would have to clarify if mine or the doctor's). I'm extremely laicist.
MasterMacLeod 1 year ago
@MrHeslopian Yo, I've got to tell you something, dude. I've verified your links as you told me to. It still gives me goosebumps, but at least I now know better. You've done your homework well!
MasterMacLeod 1 year ago
@MasterMacLeod Thank you, MasterMacLeod. :) If I've at least helped you see that gayness isn't a choice, then I feel like I've done a good deed. As for it still giving you goosebumps, that's cool. Gay sex will seem strange to a man who isn't gay himself!
MrHeslopian 1 year ago
@MasterMacLeod Sigmund Freud, though he believed that gayness was a result of childhood, also said that it couldn't be changed. Though really, ask yourself the question that I asked you: "Did you choose to be heterosexual, and if yes, does that mean you could choose to be gay?" I think you'll find your answer there, and if you approach it from an objective viewpoint, I think it'll be the same as mine and all those doctors'...
MrHeslopian 1 year ago
@MrHeslopian Well, Freud said every obsession was sexually originated. That shows you how trustable he was and why so much psychologists use his teachings nowadays (IE. zero. I've got some psychologist friends; I am aware everybody needs to go to one on ocassion, as well).
MasterMacLeod 1 year ago
@MasterMacLeod How about challenging the other sources I gave you? Or answering my question about whether you could choose to be gay? I know a lot of Freud's theories have been invalidated, but all unbiased psychologists still concur with his idea that gayness can't be changed. I think the real reason behind your homophobia is that gay sex sickens you, and that you see it as the only aspect of a gay person's life. It isn't. We have thoughts and feelings beyond what we do with our genitals.
MrHeslopian 1 year ago
@MrHeslopian I didn't read the other comment because I didn't see it before, I'm sorry. I will check that out, and of course that sickens people. I know there's more to life, but it still grows.
