I wish Lynch was in charge of the whole chapters of the series. Because there's a really big difference between the chapters he directed and the others. And by the way, I wish the case had not been solved till the end of the series.
Which Twin Peaks theme is this passage from, (with the darker melody leading into the beautiful crescendo)? Wonderful telling of how this piece was written....want to believe thats EXACTLY how it happened!
@invasionbrand This is from the 10 DVD's set The Definitive Gold Box Edition, Incredible stuff, there's plenty of bonus stuff and interviews with lots of actors from the show, and more importantly, with David Lynch.
Genius! Heaven is listening to Angelo Badalamenti's music. It was great meeting you and your friends, tonight, Angelo. Thank you for introducing me to your music. I need more inspirational music to dance to or I die. Tonight I dance and live thanks to your music. God Bless and look forward to hearing more great music from you.
I'm still very sad that Lynch never had the chance to flesh out Twin Peaks the way he envisioned. The first season was one of the most incredible dramas on the small screen.... and then the network killed it. :(
Its amazing how a visual and an musical artist could come together and create magic... Also the way he told the story was fantastic. Great to be able to look through a window into the minds of a creative geniuses
This is just pure talent. I really like how Lynch is the one that really set the mood for him. I feel like most producers and directors would just show them clips of the show/movie and let them make the music on their own. This is true collaboration between two brilliant artists.
This theme kills me. So sad and beautiful. If you like this kind of music, you should check out ''Fragile Bones(Feels Like Home)'' by Ali Murray, or anything by Ali Murray for that matter. Very beautiful music with dark surreal atmospheres.
@jenniferjjjx I'm going to look into this - thanks for the tip Jennifer! In return, check out 'Unsound Methods' by Recoil - think dark soundscapes that tell you a story with each song, hugely underrated. (The follow up 'Liquid' is great too). But as a first step into recoils world, search on youtube for 'Luscious Apparatus'.
When you listen to David Lynch's account of this, it's the EXACT same detail. BEAUTIFUL isn't a strong enough word to accurately depict how succinct the music is to the description David Lynch gave.
Raw, yet finely honed talent. To compose/improvise on the fly like that... I honestly don't think I could have held it together had I been there. The song is astounding as is, but to see the man create it right there, damn... O_O
I'm just grateful Angelo had the talent to pull it off and David had the sense to see that it was perfect as it was. I'd feel sorry for the people who hit dislike, but frankly not everyone can appreciate a fine slice of pie. ;)
I'm sure they were both drinking coffee at that time, and surely there was an owl looking in on them from that porch in the back.
I don't know if Mr Lynch or Mr Badalamenti realize it, but true or not, when this song was created, it was one of those defining moments for television history.
One of the best videos on Youtube. I lost it when he reached the climax. Along with his commentary, I felt I was sitting right there with them at that moment, when the music was being made
Anyone out there that creates, whether through word, visual, or instrument, knows how incredibly satisfying this feeling is. Up against something that could turn grueling, and it just falls out of you. I've experienced this just once before. I wrote a piece of poetry that needed only five grammatical edits from original to polish, and it only took an hour to write. Very unusual for me.
This video is an especially rare case, considering it involves two minds to work together and make this happen.
@kasteman1 I know man. I've always felt that creating something and bringing something new to the world is one of the most meaningful things a person can do in his/her life
This is just pure talent. I really like how Lynch is the one that really set the mood for him. I feel like most producers and directors would just show them clips of the show/movie and let them make the music on their own. This is true collaboration between two brilliant artists.
I've always loved Angelo, but this made me worship him. I have listened to all his music but this song has haunted me for years. I adore this song and I will for the rest of my days. I bow to this contemporary maestro. There aren't many left in the world.
I just can say Oh My God, i believed him every word he said, i saw it in my eyes... btw i think i was frozen all this video :) This is magic. Who could push "dislike" button, Are you crazy ???
@bemtikru Oh, that's right! I forgot that men couldn't demonstrate a strong sense of collaboration, creativity and sensitivity without being homosexual. Thanks for the reminder! *sigh*
This is so much stronger than the usual "it was amazing to work with -name of the asshole in question- because he's so good at what he does" crap you get in those kind of footage. Here, you can see Badalamenti just speaks his heart. I bet he has a real powerful connection with Lynch.
