There are federal laws to deal with illegal possession of a gun and it can be found in 18 U.S.C. § 921. Just another example of plenty of laws already on the books (take immigration for example) and no one in Washington (take our president, please) with the stones to uphold them.

Prisoners should get only 2 solid meals a day, or 3 light meals. We can't afford to pay for their food when we can't even buy our own.

Gun laws mainly only affect law-abiding citizens, because only law-abiding citizens care about laws. Anyway, what a lot of people miss about the Second Amendment is its main purpose is to protect citizens from its government. All that hunting and home defense and whatever stuff is still secondary to that. Criminals love de-armed citizens, and so do governments.
Take for instance, In England they banned guns in 96. After that, armed robberies went up 40%. Any time gun laws are stricter, crime rate and murders go up. Every TIME. 99% of guns are never involved in murders. 98% are never involved in any crime what so ever. (In the US.)

If everyone had a gun in this country and responsible, there'd be a lot less crime but a lot of casualties.

crime in the US has nothing to do with guns and the access to them, here in Australia when gun laws came in it did nothing to curb gun crime and created an increase in crime with other forms of weapons. crime is because of social issues and poverty, the problem with governments and uneducated citizens is they try to apply a "band aid" solution to a problem without tackling the core issue!

...so mandating long stretches in prison for violating federal gun laws is a non-issue because that's what's been happening for years already. If you get caught by the feds with a simple sawed off shotgun, you won't see the light of day for a very long time. If anything, the feds need to get off our backs and leave the second amendment alone, instead of tying us down even further with more unconstitutional laws that do nothing to reduce crime but rather have the opposite effect.

There are federal laws to deal with illegal possession of a gun and it can be found in 18 U.S.C. § 921. Just another example of plenty of laws already on the books (take immigration for example) and no one in Washington (take our president, please) with the stones to uphold them.

Prisoners should get only 2 solid meals a day, or 3 light meals. We can't afford to pay for their food when we can't even buy our own.
To make it better, do it like Jurassic Park. Just put a jungle inside a restrict fence. Let the prisoners go in there and survive on their own in that habitat. Once in a while on 4th of July just release a chicken for them to catch or raise in Jail.

Gun laws mainly only affect law-abiding citizens, because only law-abiding citizens care about laws. Anyway, what a lot of people miss about the Second Amendment is its main purpose is to protect citizens from its government. All that hunting and home defense and whatever stuff is still secondary to that. Criminals love de-armed citizens, and so do governments.

Make 2 years of military service mandatory to all citizens (male and female) between 18 and 27. I agree, the people who screw up are the ones that control the laws, not the ones whom abide by them. If you live in a neighborhood where you think you need a gun, then why live there? A gun is the illusion of safety, it won't mean much if you're not the first one to pull it out. Sweeping generalizations are bad. Saying that *anyone* ever caught with an illegal gun go to jail for twenty years is just silly.
A better solution is to stop with all the laws and do like the 2nd amendment says

Privately owned businesses enjoy the privilege of choosing whom they allow to patronize their location but public institutions do not. If guns were forbidden in courthouses, LEO would have to check his pistols at the security station along with everyone else.
As for the "public safety" issue, LEO isn't any less prone to mental defect or PTSD than any other human being.
Regarding explanation, I'll just refer the naive personnel to the Second Amendment.

You must not know about the Luby's Cafeteria massacre in TX,1991. Google "Suzanna Gratia Hupp" for an eye-opener and see how one woman with her gun could have saved many lives from a murderous prick who wasn't deterred by gun laws.
On airports, imagine if the passengers of hijacked airplanes were armed; The hijackers would have been dead and stinking up the place and would have failed in their missions.
Bottom line: Gun Control is unconstitutional and illegal and this isn't the UK.
