Siral, you'll be pleased to hear that he was keeping the gaina fair bit back here, by the sounds of it.. It might have been to prevent feedback. It goes to ridiculous levels of gain on channel 3. Especially on extreme mode.

I was expecting more gain, was he tapped out on the gain knob? Though I like the crisper attack, I tested a dual rectifier and it was just too thick and muddy/sludgy for me.

@siral000 You can tighten up a rectifier with a Tubescreamer and you can squeeze more gain with tubescreamer. Yeah pretty much all things an amp lacks can be fixed with a Tubescreamer.

My first thoughts on this amp were great cleans for Mesa and that creamy vintage distortion, but not suitable for metal....I'm slightly being swayed to thinking it is great for a metal sound some of us are after, especially since Im not into that nu metal and ultra saturated tone that many bands use today.

It runs the amp harder like a dummy load kinda thing and makes the power stage work harder leading to awesome gain at lower vol. Have you played a Marshall Valvestate? its the same type of principle/result as the "Power dimension" button they used to have...
