When I click ' create new image' in blender, I don't get a transparent picture, I get a full black one and when I unwrap my object it only shows the wireframe on a white background, no transparency
wtf? Okay, ive turned it to 90 degress, and alonged the edges, so I can put the tapers on. Now how in the hell do I move around my animation and see it as a 3d geometric shape ?? whenever I click somewhere on the screen to move around, it just moves my object. I cant freely look around! Help!
I wanted to say THANKS for all the help.. I just like how simple you make it, you need to work at my school xD Thanks for actually saying the keys you were typing and all.. very much appreciated.. I plan on being in game design/art so this stuff always helps me prepare for that.. cheers
When I first added the cube for the laces... When I press S key to scale down after going into wiring mode.. why is it scaling the football tooo.. Even after diselecting both and only selecting the cube...
I'm having a very rare issue... relating the color of the texture showing once it's loaded into blender, it appears like it has a higher contrast value or something (since the orange appears red and the dark brown spots are completely black). and this only appears in blender... my file is ok, previewed it in windows (UV layout cutted) and seems perfect... problem comes when I load it into blender, any guess?
Hello, thank you for this tutorial, it helped alot. Everything works fine but in the end my normal map is inverted wehen i render it. I created my normal map with gimp btw. I have no idea what to do now. I tried out a lot of setting but nothing worked well. Do you have a solution for this problem?
Good work. I am new to Blender and I was struggling to find a good tutorial on using file based textures until I found this. I managed to get it to work using GIMP as well! Thanks!
Hey I just wanted to ask: I picked up Blender about a month ago, thought it was a lot of fun, to the point where I'm actually thinking about going to College for this stuff. Any advice on where to learn more things on 3D Modelling in Blender? Especially in uv mapping, because I just suck at that
@MattGraeme very very true. Were I modeling this for a client I most certainly would have used some time savers. In making a tutorial, however, I felt it was better to do the long way around so viewers, especially beginners, would learn a little more in depth into the software.
@Ringo7000 Your very welcome. I'm glad I could be of service. Thanks for watching! I've been out of town recently for the birth of my nephew, but I am back and getting started on a new video. Textures for this tutorial will be uploaded to my website very, VERY soon. Thanks again
Hey, I'm halfway through the tutorial right now, and I've gotta say. I really love this, you're a great teacher! lighthearted enough to keep me interested, and then knowledgeable enough to create really convincing results... hope you've got more coming!
i tried doing this with a tennis ball thinking it would be easier, but when i rendered it out it made it all smooth but it still looked pretty cool though
@MaximSachs This is the first video I have recorded since making youtube partner. Being partner has its perks. Longer videos is one of them. I hope you enjoy the longer format videos. It enables us here at firechild video to provide much more advanced, in depth content. In short, it means more work for me, but the benefit is all for you!
No i can mark the seems perfectly well .. I think but when i put in the uv image editor it looks nothing like your and then when i try and do all the texturing stuff it goes retarded
@idontcareproductions Glad you enjoyed it. Remember to tell your friends and check out the website (link in description) for much more! Thanks again for watching and the kind words!
great tutorial, but i am getting distortion when trying to extrude the quarters of the ball along the normals (alt + s). It is not smooth like yours. The edges become very random and jagged. I made sure that proportional editing was turned off too. Do you have any idea what I could be doing wrong? Thanks, and once again, great tutorial...keep 'em coming!
@ryanbonos hmm... without being able to see your screen I can't be certain of what could be going wrong... any chance you could upload a video to show me what's happening? Or, better yet, send me your .blend file and I'll take a look. My email is firechildc@gmail.com
@L1993H very true. In fact I was going to use a mirror mod, but I decided to do each quarter independently to help people learn the hot keys a little better... memorization through repetition.
Excellent tutorial. I especially like the fact that you verbally tell us the shortcuts. Most people assume we know what they are and they lose us completely.

You need to make better use of blender's mirrors, man! There are three reasons for this:
less work
SYMMETRY
the viewers need to know ALL the tricks including mirrors.
