@princedepressia bad thing is, it is Hindi speakers who do the translating, yet their grasp of the English language to translate properly is not up to par or to them, not worth the effort...99% of things said in Hindi can translate directly to American/British English...the problem is, it needs to be translated properly!...American English is my mother tongue, but I love Madhuri's movies...just hope for correct transcription of the dialogue AND the songs!
Wow. This scene always makes me watch with wonder. The music, the slow motion, the glass breaking, her beauty, the acting. Everything about it. I love it. Put Madhuri and Shahrukh together and it's a masterpiece.
OK, it doesn't get any better than the LEGEND herself. There's Actors, actresses, stars, superstars and then theirs MADHURI DIXIT!! SHE IS IN A LEAGUE OF HER OWN!
If planet earth were destroyed..all examples of life gone..and an alien had to be given a picture of what true feminity looks like...i would vote that a picture of Madhuri Dixit BE SENT...
i am sure if i watch this movie again i will cry and there is no one to stop my tears therefore i dont want to watch it sorryy ,,, but i love all its actor even daramda,,,,,,,,
@princedepressia ah, yes, thank you so much for that. i forgot the name and it was bugging me that i did. i kept searching online for it, and couldnt find it. :)
I don't understand the language....the english translation is great help....thank you for doing that. I would love to watch the whole movie, where can I find it with translation?
If this is a great movie by Bhansali, just think of what his next movie "Heera Mandi" would have been, starring Madhuri, Rani Mukherjee, Priety Zinta, Priyanka Chopra, Sonam Kapoor, Katrina Kaif, Rekha and Shabana Azmi, with Amitabh, Anil Kapoor and many other leading actors (altogether 9 leading actresses and 7 leading actors) with a budget of 75 crores... sadly that project has been shelved now.. It was a movie about the famous red-light district of Lahore..
It wud have surely been a hit... actually Bhansali was going to shoot that movie in Lahore, Pakistan, where the actual Heera Mandi is... the star cast is so vast that it was difficult to schedule the shootings with convenience of all actors involved, plus the India-Pakistan tension make it an impossible project for now..
this kind of ladies who use to work like that have lot sorrow and sadness in thier lifes.. so breaking the glass mean every where that its not good. so she had enough sadness and sarrow in his life that every single hairs is not enough..
Yoon nazar ki baat ki, aur dil chura gaye. Hum to samje the buth, aap to dharkan suna gaye. Beautiful poetry. English translation truly does not do justice to it.

@princedepressia Yeah, I have heard the DVD comes with bad subtitles. It would have ruined the movie for a lot of non-Hindi speakers.
GirlMana 7 months ago
@GirlMana True that... luckily I know enough Hindi to make out the actual meanings. =)

excuse me people...everything in this movie is actually symbolic....i f you notice...
the cracking of the mirror signifies how astonished madhuri was on seeing him...
the scenes are symbolic, the dialogues are shayari(poetry)
its not like her hair broke the mirror..
Dharitri99 1 year ago
@Dharitri99 I completely agree with you. Western moviegoers unfortunately are not used to such poetry. =)
princedepressia 1 year ago
@princedepressia
i beg to differ. not all western movie goers are like that. thats why i took a wolrd lit class.
arn't alot of the dances in this movie parralelled with Krishna's love for someone?? (i forgot her name, but i think she was a Gopi, wasnt she??)
xxetherealfaithxx 1 year ago
@xxetherealfaithxx Ah, then you're one of the few who do understand... and that's very good. =) Yes, she was a Gopi.. her name is Radha.

The poetry is awesome. She sees him and her hair gets heavy enough to break the mirror.

Nope. the answer in depth is ,
this kind of ladies who use to work like that have lot sorrow and sadness in thier lifes.. so breaking the glass mean every where that its not good. so she had enough sadness and sarrow in his life that every single hairs is not enough..
sandks999 2 years ago
why did the mirror break? just asking...;)
LadyHonour 2 years ago
It's a way of saying two things:
1. She was so astounded by this newcomer (Shahrukh) that she swung her head to see him with such force, causing her hair to break the glass, and
2. That her hair is so luxuriously thick (and therefore heavy and able to break glass), which is considered beautiful.
It's very clever really... also, it helped facilitate the upcoming dialogue. The glass HAD to break LoL. ;-)
princedepressia 2 years ago 2
it also a way of showing that the handsomeness of Devdas was so much that it shattered the mirror when his reflection came in it..
