First of all, loved the video. As I watched the financial analysis, I realized, this is the same reaction we will see from President Obama's recover plans. The stimulus package, healthcare reform etc. It would be interesting to see the Lean Academy model President Obama's Recovery plans. :>)
The inventors of Lean could have found a better name for this process. Lean vs fat; of course, cut away the fat and one's bottom line is improved, very attractive to senior management.
Sadly, Lean is often seen by management as ultimately a way to cut human resource costs. It's the whole process that needs addressing.
I've seen the effects of poorly administered program - MBO comes to mind.
Oh yes, notice the number of "legacy" workers in that class... says a lot.
our work got leaned and the morale has flown out the window now the office is full of angry resentful workers xmas ois no longer celebrated and no-one feels any ownership of their work or workspace
It sounds like you had a very hands off management before going lean. That is bad. They were probably really clueless about what was going on on the floor. Because of that, they are probably going through a major learning curve. They should take your experiences and suggestions more seriously, but remaining ignorant and letting the workforce do whatever isn't healthy either. The issue isn't lean, it's lack of leadership from management.
