@PSTube1000 I was seconds away from buying the new Sony Vaio L Series (touchscreen) that was recently released. Can you let me know which Acer you'd recommend over this particular computer? I'm so tired of buying computers only to have nothing but problems with them. The computer I have now doesn't even recognize SD cards so my nor do any of the USB ports work. Frustrating garbage. Anyway, any advice is appreciated.
I bought this computer and already returned it. WARNING PEOPLE: This PC runs WAY TOO LOUD!!!! There is a constant fan noise that comes from behind the monitor that DOES NOT go away!!! If you buy it, get some earplugs as well.
@LilProveInn i like touch technology to a point and keyboard and mouse is cool also
but im bored of the normal stuff and i dont like windows 7 that much i rather have vista black or xp pro i have had alot of problems with windows 7 and none with vista home they say vista is a ram hogger thats cuz they dont know shit..my vista only uses 500 ram out of 3g and i windows 7 it was 620 so :/
Touch is nice, but I really don't see any other benefits to the technology at its current state of development. If someone knows differently, tell me so. What is the real benefit of a touch screen?
that is what says on Saony website... £1400... am almost on it... is it good for games like Crysis, PES2010, NFS Shift, Resident Evil5, or Assasins 2..
What is this world coming to? Stick to normal PC's, damn it. >:| One day everything is going to be touch screen. God, we'll have a touch screen TV one day. :(
Does anyone think that this touch screen is going to be accurate enough to use instead of a graphics tablet in photoshop, illustrator, etc for graphic design? Have to decide between this and the Imac of a similar spec. Any thoughts? I use PC now and was looking to make the transition to apple until i saw this beauty.
@TH3W3BB Not that ive used it, but judging from current tech available on monitors i would say it depends on what graphics tablet you have, personally i have an Intuos3 a5 extended so a touch monitor may have less functionality or accuracy. However it would be easier to manip the tools so it just depends on whether you want to sacrifice some accuracy for better manipulation, not that you would need to on other touchmonitors of course
everything needs to be redesigned for touch screen use and that's going to take a while. even if sony and apple work on it...they're only two companies. think about all the software you use (and yes i'm including webpages, too)
until everything is designed with touch in mind it will take a while for this stuff to be more productive than a keyboard/mouse.
but as touch displays become more mainstream this will happen
Well, kind of. I heard that too about win7, but I don't really understand what it is about win7 that is good for touch screens and I doubt many people do.
Regardless, people still have to buy touchscreens and companies still need to write GOOD software to use it. I mean...what apple product would you use a touchscreen with, other than the iphone? And even then...nothing fancy about that touch screen...
No, touch screens are not realistic devices, yet. But they're coming.
Very nice. I wonder if Sony can maintain it's trademark screen quality with the added dimension of touchscreen. Not to fussed on HP and everyone elses touchscreens atm - just look at the ASUS netbook - looks and feels like a backward asthetic to people who appreciate a good display.
can any one tell which is the best pc for 3d animation and for gaming purpose sony or imac????

I've used this computer, It's a nice gimmick, but I don't think it's very accurate imo. The dual touch capability is fun though.

but for today the software is still weak...

Windows 7 is designed for touchscreen and multitouch.
So the future is now.

i have an asus netbook. it's great...windows xp/7 with a 9 hour battery life.
Not super powerful...but I can run microsoft office, and use youtube and whatever else on the web. It's handy...
but it doesn't take the place of a high powered laptop, or a desktop...it's just another tool.
Aro2220 2 years ago
The 9 hour battery life is what made me buy one
