People are begining to understand.I'm glad you kept working and living your life and it looks like you have a bright future.I think people that have disorder and use it to be mean or to get out of doing things they don't want to do make the disorder worse. You seem to have a good grasp on things and your are going on to be productive in soceity.Good luck.
I have had TS my whole life. I actually go through stages. It was bad when I was younger than through part of my preteens and teens it was almost non-existant. Right now, it is worse than it has ever been but that can be contributed to several stressful/anxiety ridden events happening very close together over a very small amount of time. I am happy to say that I am recieving treatment for this and my OCD.
I suppose that it goes back to the fact that for the most part my tics are not that severe. They are, for the most part, in my face, neck and shoulders but they don't really act up. This is especially true now that I am older and on the correct medication. They always assumed that it was a nervous tic because they generally got worse the more nervous or excited I was. It wasn't until I went to a neurologist for something completely unrelated that they diagnosed me.
Think that posted wrong.Unrelated to my tics. I went to a neurologist because I also have migraines. Trust me, I would rather have the tics. I don't mind saying what meds I am on. I take Nadalol. I am not sure I spelled that right. I allo take Topamax that is supposed to be for my migraines but I noticed that since I have been on it and the other that my tics have all but dissapeared. I have taken Nadalol since shortly after I was diagnose but they had to adjust the doses a few times.
Well that would be because Topamax is the one for your TS, Nadolol is for migraines =). You got them mixed up ^_^ so that explaines why "Topamax that is supposed to be for my migraines but I noticed that since I have been on it and the other that my tics have all but dissapeared" =D.
I just did a little bit of research on a couple of websites (mainly wikipedia but i took a look at some other search results too)
No I did not get the confused I have been on Nadolol since my tics started and I did not go on Topamax until my neurologist put me on it for my migraines. When I was on just the Nadolol I had tics but they were not a severe. I was just sayig that with the topamax and nadolol both the tics have all but dissapeared. Most medicines like that ca be used to treat other sicknesses, syndromes, etc.
