On the last season of Oprah, she interviewed his adopted son who was one of the survivors because he wasn't there at the time of the mass suicide. I have a theory about why most victims were lying face down. We know that the first to die were the children. At one point in the tape Jones is heard saying that it's ok for parents to lie with their children, (he even called it "humane!!!") This leads me to believe that up to that point, someone else or more than one person were laying the children down alone as they died. The parents and others just followed suit and went face down as the kids were. Any ideas on this? I enjoy the debate.

Why is this called a mass suicide? Isn't it clear that many people wanted to leave? Not only that, but there were armed guards around the perimeter where all the kool-aid business took place. Hmm... Drink poisonous kool-aid or run and get shot to death... Where is the suicide in this? (I do accept that some people were so brainwashed that they just did what Jim Jones told them to do but this whole act was murder!)

I have a theory about why most victims were lying face down. We know that the first to die were the children. At one point in the tape Jones is heard saying that it's ok for parents to lie with their children, (he even called it "humane!!!") This leads me to believe that up to that point, someone else or more than one person were laying the children down alone as they died. The parents and others just followed suit and went face down as the kids were. Any ideas on this? I enjoy the debate.

@woperinoboyz It sounds reasonable, but cyanide actually brings you to your knees. When you drink it, you experience similar effect as in drowning except it hurts like hell. Humans are pretty much programmed to fall on their knees when they're in pain.

Not everyone got the same drugs prescribed. They intended for a few of them to escape to tell the story of Jonestown. It was part of the psyop and the entire debauch process. Of course if you ask any of the survivors they will probably have no idea about this. The MKULTRA program had supposedly ended by this time, and so this would have either been its ending, or a morphing into another program that went underground. The Eye is the lamp to the soul.

He had performed the same suicide ritual several times, but would tell the followers afterward that he lied about the poison and was testing their loyalty. After a few times of doing that, nobody expected any real poison. That is why a large part of the group refused to drink the Kool-aid and were subsequently shot.
