I have a friend, he pissed me off, I had a 74 Challenger I was restoring, and I helped him find a 75 Gran Torino. I had slotted mags and tires i loaned him. The Torino was brown, we welded up the "opera" windows on the early Elite style Torino and was about to start work on the body before he got the idea that he needed his drugs more than he needed a healthy, satisfying project like the car. He sold the car and ended up in rehab. It was a nice solid car with a 351 Windsor

The Gran Torinos weren't really what you call a muscle car in fact I think Paul Michael Glaser said they edited the sound of the engine and wheel screeches in the original series as the Torino wasn't capable of doing that. I don't like seeing classic American cars wrecked though. I believe in the Dukes Of Hazzard Series they wrecked over 200 Dodge Chargers before they decided to start re-running clips of stunts and jumps from the first two series as the Chargers were running short...sacrilege !

That equals to around 150 Chargers, plus whatever they used for the movies. So in reality not that many Torinos have been destroyed over the years on movies.

Like Paul Michael-Glaser sums it up at the beginning of this vid, "AAAAAGGGGHH!" Just to make the movie real, they had to destroy those restored (or just repainted) Torinos to get the scene right. Being an owner of a 1974

torino, I cringed at the first dive-jump over the hill, (the entire front end and frame bent

beyond recovery), whapping up in that canal, diving into the water, and worst, that stunt driver smashing out the left side/front-end trying to do a reverse spin-out. UGH! UGH! UGH!!!
