This is a great movie . The music is wonderful . The 1950's had a certain charm about it with wonderful music and great movies from that time era. A time era that will be missed and is long gone .
This is my favourite song from the movie .
Why is Tom Ewell ficticious character running away from Julie London?
If i was Tom Ewell , i would have told Julie London how beautiful she was and told her to sing for me everyday .
Love this song but god, the acting in these old flicks is atrocious. The sound quality of the effects like him slamming doors (ya, m'kay), lighting, and all around acting is horrible. Watching this video depreciates the quality of the music and her stunning voice for me. I think I'll stick to the regular version without the theatrically challenged video posted here. XP
It's great! It shows Julie before she became nurse Dixie McCall on Emergency in the 1970's. Her hubby was the doctor on that show and he is playing the guitar on this - Bobby Troup.
@GuyFawkes40 Seven year Itch was with Marilyn Monroe. This was from the movie THE GIRL CAN'T HELP IT with Jayne Mansfield. What a gorgeous looking woman, What a VOICE
This is the song we used to play in the London jazz clubs back in 1983-84. More or less started her career off. Based herself around the old jazz singers now she is one:) Cheers Paul Cooke - Sade Drummer
OMG I'm laughin so hard over here! He's freakin out, I dont know if I want what he's havin! I thought he was gonna toss himself outta window for a second.LMAO. but seriously I love this song.
Where have all the real women gone........ Class is a word girls and women don't even have a clue what it means...... T&A don't last very long..... This woman had all the above and she didn't even have to show cleveage to be real sexy.....
@randmace People behave in a way the media tells them is desirable. If you want to see a change back to old standards, we'll need to see a media figure who makes those ideas popular again.
And women aren't the only one's to have lost class ... we see just as few classy men, telling the women all they want is T&A. Things change when we make an effort to change them ... lamenting the change alone is not enough.
@randmace ...having 'class' to many women these days is drinking out of bottles, staggering down the street spewing up while dressed as a two bob tramp...with tattoos all over their hands and arms...
@PeckhamExile In America, they call it a two-bit wh-re. Didn't realize that Brits have the same expression.
Some of the clothes that Julie wears in this clip seem too revealing to me. I prefer not to show any skin at all. It's just not necessary, and, except in private, it tends to cause reactions by the wrong men.
@debralcloud ...Yep, I dont have a problem with women looking 'sexy' when they are out...but it unfortunately brings on the wrong type of attention..be it wanted or unwanted, the problem is that if a woman wants to go out dressed to provocatively and to draw attention to herself then a drunk guy, being a typical drunk guy is going to help himself to a 'handful'..not good. and no excuse for it, but thats hat can happen sadly.
The sound is too low, her voice is interrupted by his movements, the music seems to fade in and out, and there's only one dislike...yeah that makes sense.
@duvall437 This scene is made up of more than just the music and isn't only about the music. It is about seduction, fleeing from memories and regrets - the song is only one part of the whole here.
I want what he's drinking. To see Julie London laying on that bed looking so seductive..... with that "come here and make love to me look" would make me become intoxicated. I have listened to her music since I was seven and was able to collect her entire album collection. I have all her movies and the entire emergency dvd collection. I also have the Feb. 18, 1957 life mag with her on the cover and three autograph pictures of her. She was by far the most sexiest female singer of all time.
I want what he's drinking. To see Julie London laying on that bed looking so seductive..... with that "come here and make love to me look" would make me become intoxicated.
Seeing this movie as a kid in the 50's was one of the reasons I took up the guitar. BARNEY KESSEL played on the wonderful Julie London's (my mother Zita's favorite) original hit. Later in the early 60's my brother Mick had English folk/jazz guitarist Larry Graham's first album with a great solo guitar version, another early influence...and I've been doing a version myself ever since. Joe Cocker did it proud, but Julie rules!
I had the pleasure of seeing Julie perform at Menzies Hotel Melbourne in the 70s and she is the only girl who could ever turn me on by singing the Mickey Mouse Club song. She was kind enough to cuddle up to me after the show for a photo then my ex wife thought she was a former girlfriend and tore it up.
I still remember when this song was being played all over the airwaves and that cover of "Julie Is Her Name" --everybody went "gaga" over it, especially the guys. Yeah, I realize Susan Boyle has resung it very well, but, in my opinion, I'll always remember it sung w/Julie London's breathy voice accompanied by the fab jazz guitarist (was it Chris Barbour)?
Susan (Boil) Boyle, Michael (Bubble Boy) Buble, and (last AND LEAST), Justin (th Beaver) Beiber, et al trying to sing this song AFTER Julie London has sung it??? Y'all stick to "Twinkle, Twinkle, Little Star" and let a REAL SINGER sing this!!!
High Contrast samples her voice so beautifully in Kiss Kiss Bang Bang. That's why I even looked up this song. Both are fantastic songs. This one for its simple beauty and High Contrast of course for being such a dirty dnb mix.
This song is a classic , though haunting in a way . Nobody does this song as good as the Julie London . A wonderful looking lady and wonderful voice .
I wouldn't be running away from some gorgeous looking woman as Julie London if this was real . I wouldn't be too fussy with Julie London lying on my bed , or sitting on my couch .
Fantastic! What film was this? ...Of course, I can always look it up, but anyway the performances were wonderful. Makes me wonder who thought up the hallucination sequence that goes so perfectly with the song.
What a beautiful woman, both in her voice and in her looks. I was in love with her when I was in high school. Once she sings this song it has been sung. No one else need to try. Peter Fowler ( an old geezer)
Perfect! Julie owns that song. Period. Today's female singers could learn a thing or two from Miss London. She was a REAL SINGER... what they do today is vocal acrobatics.
Brilliant. Class. What a great voice. Beats the shrill, screeching voices of many modern female artists who don't seem able to hold a steady note without warbling all over the place like an over zealous gospel singer.
i owned that album.
