seeing as the USA refused to sign the Kyoto agreement it seems unfair to blame china for producing slightly more CO2 : especially when china produce a lot of products purely for export. if the USA manufacturing was even close to their level of consumption they would produce a lot more CO2 than china.

As I watched this video It dawned on me I never met or herd of a RACIST nerd.... So if nerds are smart , and not racist.... what does that say about RACIST????? just a thought..... BUT anyone thats against MOTHER EARTH I'm against .....
Is your head covering the Republic of Ireland everytime something happens, or am I seeing very few births, very few deaths, and very few carbon emmisions? O_o
5338/4=1334.5*60*24 = 1,921,680 Happy birthday 2,000,000 People! (Rounded up to adjust for rising population. Don't think we are going to level out anytime soon.)
@eyeammi What's the(3+29/60) representing? Mine is /4 for the amount of people in a minute. Then *60 for an hour. *24 to get a day. Please explain, I'm curious.
@PtahGaming Ah, are you adjusting for the 26 seconds he was talking? I didn't even pay attention to that, I assumed he was leaving it in the background. Checked it again and your correct, but that's not the point of my post. It's to show how many people are being born each day. It's crazy. Anyways I don't appreciate the ("being a nerd <-- doing it wrong") comment. You could have been a little more respectful, like most Nerdfighters. Thanks for your time.
@PtahGaming One of the best lessons I've ever learned was to not be offended when I've been corrected. (Especially when I understand my mistake better as a result & agree with the conclusion)
It's weird to think that there are deaths occurring constantly, and for us, it's just a little black dot on the screen. But for the person who's, I'll just say, lying in that hospital bed with, hopefully, family, it's the end. And for their family, maybe the person's children, that's their parent who they won't just 'see later'. I'm going to go all sentimental on you saying how important every day really is, even if you don't feel like you want a tomorrow. (And by the way... HANK = AWESOME)
YES...someone who really understands how intricate this whole problem is!! When we think about saving this planet, we mean ALL the problems being solved. Not just 'going green' or 'helping kids in Africa', these organizations should work together. And we should be thinking about ALL the sides!!!
According to the CO2 emission number of 4.616 megatons, we have an emission of 8.1*10^10 cubic feet, or a cube that's 4,236 feet across, in 3 minutes and 27 seconds! In 1 year, the cube will grow to 660 million feet across. Maybe if we're nice to mother nature, she'll be nice enough to help us get rid of the stuff over time.
We Canadians are immortal. In order to reduce world suck we have decided to stop having babies. (Ya we are taking one for the team and didn't even need to watch the awful "Torchwood: Miracle Day" to know it was what we needed to do).
@HelloRaynbo Yeah. There's actually an index (it is a bit strange), of "happiness" by country. Apparently people living in Iraq, Afghanistan etc. are happier than many westerners. Just seems a bit strange.
@MissMeggie2804 i freaked out the other day when i read (from a scientific report) that to produce one 1kg of beef, we release the CO2 equivelant of burning 50L of petrol... thats like the tank of one medium/small size car- and the average family i guess eats that much meat at least twice a week? :O i eat little meat anyway (for environmental reasons), but know just how high the impact is (let alone the deforestation and chemical use aspect) has put me off even more
There is actually an easy way to act against the destruction of the rainforests and thus to minimize co2 exhaustion. Simply search with Ecosia, a non-profit search engine.

@ItsAmysCrazyLife we arent that green.... we just have a small population. per capita we're one of the top polluters and wasteful people. :( melbourne is maybe heading in the green direction faster than other cities (perth is starting too) but its such a slow process here because i think it is more pushed by 'green' being 'fashionable' rather than people really understanding what and why we are moving in this direction
I was watching the America part on The Wall (because I live there) and I'm like, "OH! A baby was born! Yay! Another person!" then s econd later, "Darn, somebody died... never mind..."
I saw one of the quotes in the top of the video and it said "Sometimes when I consider what tremendous consequences come from little things...I am tempted to think...there are no little things"-Bruce Barton

Or he is saying that there is no such thing as a little thing and everything is a tremendous consequence?
I doubt John and Hank will be able to read this but i might as well try. so we have been inspired by you guys for a very long time and on sunday we decided to give vlogging a go ourselves and i would really like to know what john, hank and ALL you guys think. :) we are called thefrenchmenplatoon we are from the far land of australia and i would most dearly appreciate it if you could thumbs this comment up so theres a chance of john and hank seeing this. thanks guys! :)
Okay, so Hank this kinda bothered me; I read explanation on Bleja's page about CO2 and I get it's all about the total. But this is a graphical representation. Countries with larger landmasses and more people will blink a lot more rapidly than smaller countries, that combined would blink much faster. Take for example western Europe, here the avg. emission per capita is about twice as large as that of China. If these countries were depicted as EU, it would blink twice as fast (assuming equal pop.)
@armanixD You are my favorite thing about Nerdfighters! You had an issue with something in the video, so you made a well thought out, eloquently expressed comment to make your point, instead of turning on the caps lock and wailing on the keyboard. So thanks!
did anyone else notice that the "Great Salt Lake" appears out of nowhere and not in the right place on the map,(its supposed to be in utah and its somewhere in the mid west-ish area) and then it just disappears?
For all the praise Canada is getting on the video, I'm going to humble us Canadians a little. First of all, if there aren't any babies being born in Canada it means that our population is aging. That causes numerous and serious problems, especially with health care, pensions and pretty much everything because the young are going to have a very hard time paying taxes for the oldies. Secondly, If you notice at 1:24 Canada is darker. We just emitted over 1000 tonnes of CO2. Just sayin' folks.
Canada is just the best, one day I will see the world and it makes me so happy to know that when ive seen it all, I will return to such a beautiful country. British columbia all the way!!!!
Im Canadian and im going to say that Canada is rather passive; if you know what I mean. It's like the shy kid in the corner that no one notices. The only time Canada is getting recognized is when people are making fun of it ;)
gotta love Canada (:
Also gotta love that instead of having babies the citizens of Canada focus on ensuring no one dies.
i love living in Sweden. We are one of the few countries along with for example Norway and Uzbekistan to have cut our carbon dioxide spending the last four years :D
Do you practice what you preach? I notice people who preach this stuff has as big carbon foot print as the ones who just lie their lives. Ted Turner has a huge fancy house and tell everyone else to live green and he wants to reduce the population by 80%.
Hank you should talk about how the tigers are going to be extinct by like 2020. I told my friends and they laughed at me, becuase i cared. So I think you should make a video about it and in which tell my friends ( my name is Emma) to take it more seriously. Please and thanks!
canada only flashed like ONCE that I saw... my mom is canadian but im not. totes getting a dual citizenship (cuz she asked me if i wanted one). also, I'm totes going to a college there :D... maybe idk
@cimbles im canadian, canada is a great country, but consider the WAY smaller population of canada in comparison to the us, or china or india. per person, canada is FAR worse for the planet than the us.
also DO come to college here! im at university of toronto - GREAT school!
One thing that wasn't mentioned which I feel is important. Along with pumping mass quanities of CO2 into the air at the same time we are chopping down mass quanities of tree's.Nature's filter for CO2.This combination will eventually kill us all. But only after disease and much heartache. We must be more responsible for our own actions. We must ALL do our best to change what is happening. One thing you can also do is only have a max. of 2 children. If everyone had only 2 kids, pop.would stop rising

Please and thanks!

im1canadain 1 year ago
