What is wrong with the tongue curling backwards type retroflex R sound used in British English? Most American can not distinguish it from the American bunched "mountain" R. This poor kid is suffering about the bunched R and pronounces it as an L.
I cheered when he got that very clear /r/ at the end! I did this for 26 years and loved it. When a child finally got a difficult sound and could produce it at 80% the group would have a speech treat to celebrate!
I remember doing this. I took speech therpary from pre-school through eigth grade. I hated it so much. Then in fifth grade i tansfered from my school to a private school and they didn't really offer a progam but i did get help, then sixth grade I left school early to go to a public school to get it. They finally let me quit after half way through eight grade. I was so happy but i still have problems with "r" and "sh" but everytime my parents mention it I hate I could never stand speech.
@cdmusiclover4ever Sorry your experiences were not positive. What we strive to do, is to provide effective tools for professionals, so that kids can get these sounds corrected much earlier in life and much more quickly. Hopefully (and we firmly believe that), children that receive speech services following The Entire World of R protocols get their /r/ sounds corrected in a very short time.
@thegreatgatsby1994 Awareness is the first step in making a change. Since you're still 16 you should contact your school's speech-language pathologist while you are still eligible for services. He or she can provide some suggestions on what to work on. Good luck.
I originally saw this video as part of a presentation at ASHA in Chicago and it truly changed the way I think about artic therapy. The Entire World of R program has made a tremendous difference in helping me do my job more efficiently and effectively. I no longer feel frustrated or "stuck" when I work on /r/ with students. I greatly appreciate that they are so willing to share videos such as this to help us improve our understanding and skills in the remediation of R!

@kaylu12 Communicating clearly and "having a voice" is certainly something to celebrate!
