A correction to one of the posts here - That is NOT Pee Wee of The Delltones performing on this song. 'She's My Baby' was recorded in the US by Liberty Records at United, in November 1959, produced by Snuff Garrett and arranged by Ernie Freeman. All musicians and backing singers were American. The bass man on this song is black singer George McCurn, who later had a hit with 'I'm Just A Country Boy' for A&M Records. The US release on Liberty was issued 'dry'. The Oz release had reverb.
@doggah32 Yeah thats Pee Wee and he is still going strong.Ran into him on the Gold Coast last year.Didnt hurt him cos hes still a big man.Shame about Johnny though, saw him at the old shed at Rushcutters Bay in the fifties.Man he outshone the main events and we all loved him RIP Johnny, although I like to think he is still rocking it somewhere.
from each and every one of us who love australian music, we say thank you john, because if it wasnt for you` we wouldnt be enjoying the great aussie acts that we are hearing today
Isn't that funny I was born in 69 and yet in my teenage years this song came on the radio I didn't know who sang it but I knew all the words strange what goes into your head as a child. which now makes me nervous about my own children LOL
Written by Scotty Turnbull (Tommy Sands guitar player) for Johnny O'Keefe, originally released 1959 hit the No.1 position early 1960. Recorded in America.
(This version is the unreleased version, this has a sightly different ending.)

The great O,Keefe.
What a talent!!
He even played at my birthday party when I was a child. Of course that was well before he became such a well known person.!!
