I know how you feel eric, they ask you to do one thing then they change to another.

As much as I hate to say this. Pressuring someone into college like the Matthews parens and Feeny do with Eric is not the way to help AND college isn't always the way to go. When people don't have a job getting one is a good thing. Eric is doing better than most of America right now.

@Buffy8Fan I hate to say this, but I firmly believe that society is simply heading in a more academic direction. My dad was a blue collar worker and times were pretty rough. The only times we did ok, was when he quit the union and became an independent contractor. So it's really tough out there for people who don't at least do some type of business school, trade school, or at least get an associate's degree.

Eric was the only one holding himself back and that pressure, that little push allowed him to do what he needed to do. Sometimes you have to pressure people to do what they need to do.

@Buffy8Fan Statistics show that a great deal of homeless people are mentally disabled, have physically disabilities, or are drug addicts/alcoholics. Of course there are regular people who are simply too poor to afford shelter.

Eric's parents didn't kick him out of their house, they fired him. And he got a new job, that was completely beneath his potential. He didn't decide to take the SATs until that moment, so he had no goals before then.

@Buffy8Fan Everyone needs to sink or swim on their own. If Eric became homeless then that would have been a learning experience for him. Education is important, his home and family are important. Up until that point he had been taking a lot of what he had in life for granted.
