  • to the maker of this video I am interested in your school but I'm just curious do you offer any lessons in NJ or NYC only?

Either way I think I would like to come by and pay your school a visit.

  • is this in NYC?

I may have to visit one day, I'm in MD.

My Bak Mei isn't nearly as good as these guys though.

  • @sangtawon Yes we are in NYC. Please feel free to visit. All the best...

  • jiggahippo-

    Merriam Webster dictionary -

College -a body of clergy living together and supported by a foundation; a building used for educational or religious purpose.

Collage - a work (as a film) having disparate scenes in rapid succession without transitions.

    ITS COLLAGE.

    its education NOT EDUMACATION

  • college NOT collage

  • I would like to learn this gong fu!! Is there any good teachers in california? Thank you!

  • @mrbobwong: Everyone has the "right?" to criticize and make accusations on Youtube; but they should know their facts first. The characters for Man Fong used under Chan Gwok Wah’s name are different than our Sifu’s. It would take minimal research to see that this is not the same person. Our school’s history and Sifu’s background are clearly and accurately detailed on our website.

  • @mrbobwong: and his sparring criticism. Yes the sparring is basic. We, and almost every other martial arts school would not show advanced techniques on Youtube or anywhere else in the public eye.

  • @bobwong: Sifu Kwong Man Fong began publicly teaching in 1974 in NYC’s Chinatown. During the 1970’s, 80’s (and even the early 90’s), any false claims would have been dealt with by the other 5th generation practitioners in NY. If needed, this would've been dealt with THEN, not in 2011. 37 years later, we are still here.

Mrbobwong’s attacks appear to be personal and disrespectful in nature and contain no substance.

Our address is public knowledge and visitors have always been welcome.

  • Thanks for the feedback. I have not even come close to mastering all that Sifu has taught. Perfecting my Pakmei will be a life long journey. As Sifu has said, a fraction of a difference, a split of a hair, can mean the difference between night and day, heaven and earth. In regards to Sifu's lineage, I have no intention to debate our school history. There is a 70% chance I will be attending Sigung's celebration in HK, Fall 2011. Family/Work permitting, I'll see you at SiBak Bing Lam's Gwoon.

  • 陳國華* 文芳 (1967) Is this the same sifu whose name is listed on the pakmei.net headquarter web page? Anyone who reads Chinese knows that Sifu Kwong Man Fong is 6th gen, but his students lied about that he is 5th gen. They look like monkey dance. I asked around during the last CLC annual banquet and they were surprised. The suggestion was that sifu Kwong Man Fong probably does not read English. No discilpes' names have been listed under Kwong Man Fong. That is ultimate lack of endorsement.

  • The one who does Dei Sai is very good. The others are just jumping around waving their hands and arms. They just turned up the speed to appear faster.

  • That's really powerful, is that "thomp" sound, generated from the foot stomping on the ground, or is that sheer strength coming from the arms ?

  • @bigfatdick5000 It does not look like any of that stomping force enhance any of their arm force. It is a bad habit.

  • @mrbobwong1001 what do you mean by bad habit? I don't mean to ask in a confrontational way but rather from an untrained perspective-- my background is in western boxing and burmese bando so I no kung-fu experience to draw from.

I can only see that there hand is sometimes moving before their foot is firmly on the ground so that the foot is following the hand instead of the hand following the foot but is that what you mean? Just curious as you seem knowledgeable. What is your style?

  • @mrbobwong1001 also perhaps these people are just beginners or intermediate level practitioners so perhaps someone with your level of experience is being a bit too harsh on them?

  • wooo!! excelente!!!! yo practico wing chun. saludos desde argentina

  • Slow is smooth, smooth is fast

  • Now is the system called Bak Mei or Bak Mei Pai?

  • pai is just the word for sect or style.

  • @JookLumFist Pak Mei, Southern Mantis, and Wing Chun are grouped together and called "East River Stytles" because they are similar. I am sure an accomplished practitioner like you would feel ashamed when you see this video. Real Pak Mei is better. Sifu Kwong Man Fong's brief clip on their web site shows that.

  • @mrbobwong1001 I have experience with the 3 and find most similarity with wing chun. I have developed most of my sticky hands from jook lum, and triangular attcks from wing chun, but pak mei has definitely given birth to my incorporation of shock power. Lots of Tun "swallowing" or what I'd call body dropping/sinking contractions which grab from the ground and pull what's above down. From this vid I do not see half stepping and tun, but foot dragging and hopping.

  • @mrbobwong1001 That is just my opinion of course.... Out of Pak Mei oath, we still have to remain brothers...For example, my side is the first public Ng Yiu lineage which the chairman side neglected since the death of their father and Ng Yiu even though Ng Yiu is their (Bing Fat & Bing Lam) uncle. Politics as in every style...

  • i see a lot of forms, not much martial arts or applications.

  • You are correct; this video only consists of Forms. Visit our main page to see videos of applications, sparring, etc.

  • Cool Videos! Keep the NYC Pak Mei school strong.

Az Martial Arts Lion Dance Association.

  • Nice to see the old videos of Sifu, Si-hings, and Si-mui, Si-dais.

  • nice!! stuff do they sale bookson this art message me anyone thank you

  • i heard pak mei was a martial art designed to kill

  • @chinesedragon93 All martial arts are, atleast in part, designed to kill. BakMei is a great style, you get real strong doing BakMei. Sup Jee is a great example, the drops are difficult to say the least.

Any martial art that ONLY teaches defense withough doing harm isn't gonna be as helpful in a dangerous situation. Why take that chance? If somebody tries to harm you you should put em down as swiftly as possible. Not to say you should kill them, but hurt them enough to ensure your own safety.

  • @SynS7ven I see how they spar on their web site-a sorry bunch. They learned the wrong stuff from their great sifu. They showed no kung fu technigues, just bunch of kids punching each other. Their sifu probably just taught them sets and left to themselves otherwise, a common practice among old teachers. Their sifu is listed as a six generation practictioner under Chan Kwok Wah, and no disciples are listed under Kwong Man Fong, meaning nobody has been taught the real stuffs.

  • Hey Will, don't don't if you're the one in charge of posting the vid for the school. But I love the music track, what is it?

  • Props to my Si Hings doing their thing. Pak Mei forever!!!

  • unnecessarily expedited !!!!

  • very very nice

  • nice video

  • Good compilation of videos. Not bad chinese kungfu.

  • The Chinese man doing the Da Saak segment is the best.

  • i personally like the last 2 minutes, it's good stuff :) i'm curious as to why the kung fu is practiced bare footed? this to me is very strange.

  • It is pure idiosyncrasy unique to this pakmei studio, probably for protection of the nice hard wood floor. Last generations of southern style sifu's had emphasized curling of the toes to grasp the floor better. I do not agree with that as that practice stiffens the feet and offers no real value in modern day attire. You practice Chu/Gee or Chow Gar Mantis? You are quite an accomplished guy, at least in insight and theory(no offense).

  • it's chuka based, s wong r.i.p. i am not in any of the videos on my channel, but will be posting some soon next week. i agree with the toes curled method only for momentary balance for it creates an arched foot to provide a flat area :) i also agree that it is useless with shoes LOL :) i wear adidas driving shoes when i train cuz it provides very thin sole and a realistic shoe feel, i also practice bare footed as well.

  • i've been training for 4 years and a life senior student. i feel that philosophizing is a great part of my training, being enlightened about what i do and why i do it is awesome! my fighting is great as well, bridge or no bridge. we practice traditional qi gong and the air excercises help tremendously! i noticed that most schools don't emphasize internals anymore, it's a great shame :(

  • Love the Pak Mei style! Thanks for posting!
