only problem with the sho is that putting all that power in a transverse mounted engine/tranny setup. they are known for tearing themselves up if you beat on them a lot.
yeah, plus its hard -not- to beat on these cars because there so fun to drive. I think i go through motor mounts faster than Rosie O'Donnell goes through a plate full of BBQ spare ribs
i dont see what the difference should be, the 3.0 was 220 hp/200 tq and the 3.2 was 220 hp/215 tq and the same design was used all the way through,i think this is just a myth because i hear it alot to,the only thing it could be is the wieght since they changed the body style in '92 eather way they are all rockets
the 3.2 was only used on sho's with automatics. if it was a stick shift, it had a 3.0. the idea was to make the automatic be just as fast as the 5speed also, the sho was only offered as a stick shift from 89 to 91. when they changed the body, they then offered the car with an auto.
If this guy's MODIFIED SHO has the 3.2, that doesn't mean he has an automatic transmission. you can get the larger engine and pair it up with a manual.
I always heard it was first offered in 92. and for the record, I probablly shouldn't have put "when they changed the body style", because most people probablly thought I was talking about 96, I was talking about when they changed the front and back ends of the car with the smaller headlights and whatnot.
1991 WAS the fastest year, the old body style, plus they had the rod shifter linkage, instead of the stupid cable thta always came apart. I had a 89, and a 95, both stick, and the 89 was wayyy quicker.
this are the mods: - 3 Inch mandral bent Exhaust and Down Pipe - 3.2 Liter Turbocharged Yamaha V6 - 47 Pound Injectors in Modified Fuel Rails - 5-speed Manual - Custom Front Mount Intercooler - Eibach Springs - Extrude Honed Intake Runners - Greddy Blowoff Valve - Heat Coated Tubo and Header Pipes - Koni Adjustable Shocks - New T60 Hifi Turbo - PROFEC A Boost Controller - Quaife Limited Slip Differential - Rod Shifter Last time at the track this car ran a 13.1@113.9 in the 1/4.

From what I can remember I believe the 3.2 made more torque, I guess to try and counteract the slushbox.

FYI The car has a 3.2 SWAP. SHO's were offered in 5 speeds from 89-95. The auto was introduced in '93.

I'm curious. I own a '91 and it's a complete rocket. What made the '91 so much faster? I hear '92's are fast too, or is that just a joke?
