I find it shocking that most fans would rather see Christine with a psychotic, homicidal stalker rather than the nice guy, her childhood sweetheart. The musical makes Phantom look much better than the book/1925 movie, though.

All that happens in this movie therewith becomes entirely self-contradictory. The Phantom appears a genuinely thorn guy with no direct understanding of morality: that does not make him moralityless villain like he is in the book. Fiction tends to be inaccurate.

Also, "psychotic" does not mean "psychopathic" and is incorrect in this context.
