Can someone please help. I'm not that savy with phones :I Anywho.. I have this same phone with VM and the problem is I can't recieve texts without first making a call. It's been happening for about a week now. Everyonce in a while the texts flow in smoothly, but most of the time it's stuck. SOMEONE PLEASE HELP. Thank you in advance.
I have virgin mobile. I'm getting this phone friday, (50.00 @ Target). Since i have the $25 plan how can i ,make sure i stay with that plan? do i just keep my number?
I just got this phone about a week ago. I love it the only problem i have is the poor battery life. But i installed juicedefender and it seems a tad better. Also ive been with virgin mobile for only about a year and ive changed phones about 3 times. I still only pay the 25$ a month plan.
@guitarist9626 yep, probably the biggest drawback is the battery life, but using apps like juice defender and disabling background data can help with that. And yes, as long as you don't change your plan, you'll continue to enjoy the $25/month plan because you were grandfathered in when VM changed their plan prices. New VM customers will pay the new prices.
Do you know if new VM memebers can eventually drop their per month price to 25$ like Boost mobile does after a certin number of months?, or is the 25$ per month only for older members of VM?
@alexlove936 no, the lowest plan for new VM customers is $35. Those enjoying $25/mo plan were existing VM customers who were grandfathered in when VM made their most recent plan pricing changes.
@wowitzelijah11 newer phones with better hardware are going to be more expensive, so it really depends on how much money you want to spend. The Optimus V is still a great phone for the price.
@Vahayr umm yes u can install it into ur phone. There is an app for it.But for you to do video chat i think it hass a spesific list of phones because remeber that the camara iss on the back of the phone :) -hope this helped
A screen protector for a glass screen? You do realize that makes no sense, right? The glass in these screens is nearly impossible to scratch but are relatively easy to crack. Even if you put a screen protector on it, if it falls from a good distance into concrete, the screen will crack.
Congrats on the phone, though. I'm getting one soon, though I am maddened at the fact they decided to raise the cost of the cheapest plan by a whole $10.
I read that it is still going to be "unlimited" but if you exceed 2.5G of data, they throttle your phone..meaning they slow it down. I am considering buying the phone, but I dont want that to happen..I would think 2G of data is more than enough and average usage rarely exceeds that right?
@Murph1331 yes, the average user - likely won't exceed 2.5GB per month. The average YouTube video doesn't use much bandwidth at all. Now, if you are on your 3G connection all day every day, downloading music, watching YT vids, and Skype, that's a different story. But then you run into battery life issues!
im getting that one!!! and the plan that costs $25 dollars for 300 min with UNLIMITED: Texting ,data, and web :D OMG i soud like those commercial ladies
@TheAGFOREVERSTUDIOS FYI they just increased the price of their cheapest plan from $25/month to $35/month and starting in October they will not be offering "unlimited" data.
I love this phone. Apps are so easy to download and it's fast! I love the swipe text! Virgin mobile did wonderful! It's their best yet! If you are looking for a great priced smartphone get this one!! It's so cool!
man virgin mobile needs to get more phone like blackberry phone or iphone or evo or samsung phones people ask more for this phone virgin mobile needs to get them
@KawaiiBunny2014 you can use WiFi without activating the phone, so yes, you could use it like an iPod Touch. You might want to look up the sales tax rates in your area to get an idea of what you'd pay.
So I Virgin Mobile is like Metro PCS as in I can go to a physical store and shop, instead I would have to go to a Target, Radio Shack, Wal*Mart ect. to get this phone?
@Gera1035 the battery life depends on how you use it. In my experience, the battery lasts about 1.5 days before I have to recharge it. I just recharge it every night. I've also turned off background data to extend battery life.
If I move my number from MetroPcs to Virgin Mobile and let's say in the future I want to leave Virgin Mobile, will it let me transfer the Virgin number to any other carrier?
So once you buy the phone can you walk out the store without actually buying a card right then and there? Cause I hada pre-paid phone from Kroger and didn't need to buy a card right away because the receipt had a code with it and I got like free 200 minutes for purchasing the phone and becoming a new user, so is that the same with this? Or you gotta choose a card plan as well before walking out the store with just the phone?
@LadiiTopModel the phone does not come with any minutes. You can either buy your first block of minutes from the retailer that sold you the phone or you can purchase them via phone or online through Virgin Mobile. You can activate the phone without putting any minutes on it, but you won't be able to use voice, text, or data until you make your first plan payment.
@ geeklooptv do you just buy the cards and that is what equals each plan like 25$ and so on or do you need a credit card for that. Can you explain for me in depth. really would appreciate it
@Dsay123 you can buy the Virgin Mobile cards from any authorized retailer and apply them to your account via phone or web. As long as you have enough credit applied to your account by the time your current minutes expire, you'll be fine. You don't need a credit card to use this phone.
@Travsterable you're right, Sprint is not known for their outstanding coverage (Virgin Mobile uses the Sprint network), but for those in covered areas, it's a great phone!
@ExtremeCardz when I purchased the phone at Radio Shack, I was able to purchase $40 of worth of Virgin Mobile credits. The receipt contained a code that I entered on the Virgin Mobile Website to put the minutes on my phone. You can continue to purchase time through authorized retailers, or you can enter your credit/debit card information on the Virgin Mobile website and it will auto-bill you each month. But remember, you can stop at any time with no penalty because there's no contracts!
@Onelove891318 I called Virgin Mobile support and had my number ported from Net10 in less than 24 hours. I assume you would have similar results if you wanted to port your number from Boost.
@biomed125 no, this phone does not support Adobe Flash. Apparently Flash requires a minimum of 1GHz clock speed from the CPU (and even then it doesn't run that great, from some of the reviews I've read). The LG Optimus V sports a 600MHz processor, which is zippy enough for most applications, but won't run Adobe Flash. In fact, the Adobe Flash app doesn't even appear in the Android Market on this phone.
