This song came out during the time over 40 years ago that I had split with my then girlfriend.

Having met again a few months later we have now been married for 40 years but we always remember this song for obvious reasons. It means a lot to us. Great song.

This goes down as my favourite record ever! Perfect chord progressions and orchestration - even down to the 'gritty organ' in the outro and one especially spine-chilling chord! June 1968 - my elder brother taped it off Radio 1 Tony Blackburn show. Decades later the lyrics uncannily reflect my feelings about my marriage breakdown but I never tire of listening to it..
