  • God I hate parrot fish, I got 3 of those deformed fishes in my 210 gallon I bought last summer, and I can't believe how much they cost too but they have only been around for like 25 years though. But I'm glad you didnt breed that fish they have a huge inbreed problem with them and they have a tuff time eating food.

I just don't think people should support breeding an animal that doesn't belong out in the real world. Thumbs up for have your fish lay eggs though that's cool

  • @Diamondcolored their nice looking fish. Even though that they have deform mouths, they really look beautiful with the Orange. They wobble like a gold fish, they have a great personality with Owners and are really peaceful, great for a nice friend for a Oscar or a Jack Dempsey ;D

  • Can blood parrot cichlids bite?

  • When taking out the rock from the tank, why not separate the fish with a perspex partition in the tank, or a fish net, so that you can do what you need, without getting attacked by the fish? :/.......

  • Get a bigger tank, people like you make me sick - how would you like to be kept locked up in one room all your life.

  • @jenko740 "People like us make you sick?" Listen Jack-ass, F.Y.I shortly after this video which was three years ago we re homed our fish because we have a friend with a 75 gallon tank with only 4 other fish in it and that is where this fish lived out the rest of her life. She got that big very quickly because we lost some fish and it was only her and the Gourammi so she got big VERY quickly. I am an animal lover who donates to WSPA, Humane Society, Defenders of Wildlife, Foster Parrots and Peta.

  • I have 7 of these blood parrot. They are fully grown. One of them lay eggs and 5 of them were going fighting trying to get those eggs and you know what, the next day i waked up. it was all gone :( lol there was over 8 eggs!

  • stop teasing him lol

  • some pepole says like " u will need like 60 g or 90g!!!!" and they report animal abuse... those pepole are dipshits... that 37g looks fine and you can fit a another fish in there to... ps nice tank... and i have a oscar and i want to buy a 40g tank for parrots do they need hideouts and stuff? plzz reply :D nice tank and nice fish!

  • @Gh1d3y well, think about it, Cichlids get big! Parrots grow up to 8", which is pretty big. Now, a 37 gallon for a parrot is a bit small, like a 55 will make it much happier! A 40 gallon for parrots, 2 could live there.

  • so i had a question. i see how the guy is constantly backing up his hand....the blood parrot doesnt hurt....dramatic

  • cute video lol

  • ohh thanx for teh info :) but hey not to be mean but r u sure thats 37 gallon? looks moar like 25 gallon

  • hey i have a question is it ok to put cichlids in my 10 gallon aquarium???

  • @epicguy1231000 I don't think so, thats a 37 gallon with 1 cichlid and it seemed too small.

  • @nitwit39 But That Is A 37 tall I feel it would be ok because the blood parrot wouldnt grow tht large in a 10 gallon tank

  • @epicguy1231000 there are thousands of different cichlids, so yes you can and no you can't. If you get some apistogrammas or rams they should di fine, or some of the small shell dwellers. Just don't go and get an oscar or a frontosa, and do the research before buying the fish

  • @epicguy1231000 you can put shell dwelling cichlids in a 10 gallon, they're really small cichlids & stay small, but any thing other than that will get too big for a 10 gallon

  • @MrSumthingfishy well i live by 2 petsmarts do u think i could find some there?

  • @epicguy1231000 I've never seen shelldwellers at Petsmart, not the ones I've been to anyway. If you google shell dwelling cichlids and get some names of the ones you like I'm sure you could ask a local fish store to order some in for you, we've done it a few times before, but it does depend on the store. I'm from Canada so I'm not sure if the chain called Big Al's is anywhere near u but they're really good on having cichlids & ordering in for customers

  • @epicguy1231000 I saw your question and wanted to help. Most Cichlids are carnivores and will grow a good size and i would say 10 gallons would be pushing it. Even a 20 gallon would be a little tight but can hold some of the smaller Cichlids. I would say a 30 gallon + would be a good size for any kind of Cichlids. But you know, the larger the tank the better. If you need anything else id be happy to help :)

  • @epicguy1231000 no, way to small. even if they fit now, they will grow bigger soon

  • @epicguy1231000 no!!

  • my parrot is a little smaller and your right they do come at u hard and it can hurt a fair bit . my girl is sure not nice and she does not even have any eggs

  • how big is your blood parrot?

  • im gonna be honest with you is a very nice blood parrot unfortunately im sorry you kinda look you're showing off blood parrots dont bite is just aggression they cant close their mouths it is bcz of their genetics so why all that shit about taking the rocks fast and look like you were treating with some shark/crocodile in there?

  • @kikefaris Well, I don't know how big you think this parrot is, but she was at least 8 inches around and 2 inches thick. She was about 8 when this video took place. And although she couldn't close her mouth she came at you hard and absolutely DID have some kind of scratchy teeth when she hit. It was more of a shock than anything.

  • Comment removed

  • @kikefaris I have two blood parrot fish and they are almost the size of the one in this video. The female I have has the same temperament as the one in this video when you stick your hand in the tank. You would think it doesn't hurt since they can't close the outer part of their mouth. But, IT DOES HURT! I don't know if it's a sucking thing or they are actually biting down on you with the inner part of their mouth that does close. But, it does hurt enough for you to want to move away quickly.

  • next time use an aquarium net to hold your fish... then get whatever you need to get in the aquarium... :)) learned my lesson... this video made me laugh out loud... this was also what i was doing with my first parrot. trick the parrot!!! i say... so that i can stick my hand in the aquarium to clean the tank. took me a while to figure out i can use a net to hold my parrot while i was cleaning the tank... or in this case getting the stones... :)) nyahahaha...

  • that guorami must be like "THE HELL IS GOING ON?" lmao

  • Hi guys! nice video!, I have a question: how big is your tank? I have a 20 gallons tank with 4 parrot like that one but they are still small, that one is huge! Someone told me that my tank is too small, please help me, you seem to know these fish well. Thank you!!

  • @arangogol It's a 37 gallon tank. She got really big I think because there weren't many fish in the tank. Although I do think 20 gallons is a little small for 4 parrots, I just think they won't be able to grow much bigger. So if you do want them to get big, a bigger tank is a must. Good luck!

  • @arangogol I have a 500 litre fish tank n i have 7 fishes

  • @arangogol - I have a 12 gal. tank w/ 2- eight yrs.old Parrots, a little bigger than this one (Dorey is 6 in./Nemo is 7 in.). They started off 1" long and grew to 6-7" in ~ 2 yrs. They got so fat, I had to put them on a diet. I don't really know why my fish grow so big, but this is what I have done for yrs. I use Cichlid salt, a tank heater (79-84 deg.F),Stress & Zyme Coat (when changing water). Once/Twice a yr., I put them in their 5 gal. bucket w/ pump, for a parasite wash (20-30").

  • @arangogol overcroweded!

  • Lmao, that was very entertaining xD

  • i have a 15 gallon tank and i was wondering would i be able to have a parrot fish in there allso how big does that gourami grow because if i cant have the parrot fish im gonna create a gourami tank

  • I bought a 55 gallon kit with a whisper ex70, 200 watt heater, and hoods for $200

  • @ViperstudiosNG

Where did you buy it at? Was it all together or separate?

  • @FlowingDepths its all together, but walmart has a cheaper one for like $170

  • @ViperstudiosNG

Oh snap! Thanks for the info!

  • @yeohwl91

The largest one of mine 3 had just died from not having filtration for a few days as we were renovating our home. They are all males as I've never seen eggs in the tank. He was as big as Puffy. RIP. What do their eggs look like? Is it as big as the blood parrot food pellet?

  • @malagabee Her eggs were sort of a cloudy almost transparent white and about the size of eggs you'd find on top of your sushi. She would always look for something bigger to lay them on and then fiercely protect them. I'm sorry for the loss of your fish :(

  • how many gallons?

  • GET HER A MALE TO MAKE SWEET LOVE. not to mention if the eggs to hatch then you can sell it for a HUGE PROFIT!

  • do they sit on the bottom of the tank when they are after laying as i have got two and for the past couple of days they have been siting on the bottom of my tank were they are normaly active and swiming about........

  • wow... u got chinese word as your tatoo.

    父母子女

Do you know what means by those chinese word?

  • @yeohwl91 Father, Mother, Son, Daughter.......I hope......

  • @yeohwl91

  • shes big lol

  • so cute!! lol it IS puffy!! cute name! :)

and it's cute how when he wiped the glass, she was all like "WHAT ARE YOU DOING???" :D hehe

  • lol she wants a baby daddy!

  • @fuji9991 awwww :)

  • :)

  • We had to remove the eggs because she wouldn't eat them so they would grow fungus and contaminate the tank. She was only mean after laying eggs as she was protecting them. We lost 3 other fish from not removing the eggs and doing a water change immediately. One of which was a 7 inch "shark" that was 5 years old.

  • wi did you remove the eggs its getting more and more common in the past few yeairs for them to actuley hatch and even when thay do not the mother will eat them once thay turn white. and i hope my new parrot lives that long. he ant meen like your tho it will not come neair your hand.

  • Buy a male for her

He have the right to do sex

  • mine does the same thing, one fish kept on laying eggs and it made hell for the other fish. Sad thing is male parrots r unfertile, so the eggs will never hatch.

  • is a 6 inch parrot large?

  • is a 6 inch parrot large?

  • is a 6 inch parrot large?

  • She already passed away =(

  • Sadly, Puffy as we lovingly called her has since passed away. She was fostered by a friend with a much bigger tank than me who also loves her fish. But she was about 8 or 9 years old which I think is amazing in the fish world. So R.I.P Puffy..

  • @nitwit39 sorry to hear that puffy was so cute!

  • @nitwit39 amazing naa some koi can get to 100+

  • dude tht fish is awsome. wht size gallon is tht ? has parrot out grown the tank yet?

  • i had bought a parrot fish yesterday which is still settling in a 10 gallon tank with a pleco i hope my fish will grew that big

  • she looks great, I hope mine live that long ..

    check out my tank

  • Lol why are you so afraid of it? It can't even hurt you -_-

  • I have a monster parrot fish that's seven years old too! He's a sweetpea though. I call him my little puppy fish, because he follows me all over the tank and will swim in and out of my fingers when I stick my hand in the water. I got him as a tiny baby and would spoil him by syringe feeding him with bloodworms and beefheart. I guess he's just trusted me ever since. I love parrots, they're my favorite fish. Your's is GORGEOUS!!!

  • @daphnener, Unfortunatly, Puffy (as we liked to call her) has since this video passed away. I adopted her out to a great friend with a much bigger fish tank and she lived happily there until June of 2010. She was AT LEAST 7 to 8 years old and I believe had a very good life. I love to hear from all of you who love their animals.....fish, cat, bird or otherwise. R.I.P. Puffy......you were loved and will be missed....

  • Lovely fish! Hope everthing is good with it and is that a gourami in the background?

  • haha great video, im sorry but i couldnt help but laugh. Im not sure who checks the comments, but the guy - Two thumbs up for quickness! Nice!

  • did you get it a mate?.

  • beautiful fish.

  • so once they very protective with there place there pregnant or they just do that! cuz my blood parrot fish is really protective and everytime the red devil cichild go to the plce where they stayed my parrot fish attact!!

  • Um Are They Hardy Are They Good To keep? Im Getting 2 tomorrow! Do They Last?

  • Um Are They Hard Are They Good To keep? Im Getting 2 tomorrow! Do They Last?

  • Why is he doing it so fast? Can the fish bite or something?

  • @corgiluver26 the fish has a beak... :P one of the henses of "parrot" fish

  • @corgiluver26 Not really, it's more like they're bumping you with their face. Or giving you high powered kisses, if that's how you want to look at it lol Mine as never attacked me like that before though, but it's never laid eggs that I know of either

  • hey i know its probably been a while, but do you remember what the other fish was with your parrot?

  • I've got a spawning trio, one girl and two boys. They are not quite as big as this one, but almost there.... My girl does the same when I try to clean the tank if there are eggs in her cave - very aggressive.

  • Luckily my ones eat the eggs as they go white, so no mess..... Unfortunately, even when the eggs have signs of life... (little black specs inside) The males are usually infertile, but they give it a good go! In summer they lay eggs once a week! Great fish, but they eat goldfish and tetras :P Was the gourami ok in there?

  • How big is that tank?

  • It's a 37 gallon tank, and at 7 years old, it became too small....so we adopted her out to a very loving family with a 55 gallon tank. I have grave news........Puffy (as we called her) has since passed away. I'm hoping she enjoyed having more room in her last months!!!!!

  • i love blood red parrots! i love watching them at my job(i work at petsmart) but i could have sworn u have to have a 30 gallon tank for those guys, maybe i heard wrong. i dont know

  • @socerlover788 Blood parrots cannot seperate their eggs, they have a deformed mouth from being a hybrid.

  • can i adopt it?

  • you are sutch a PUSSY your scared of a gay imbred parrot fish

  • how do you determine the gender of blood parrots cichlid

  • @MelanieL1976 Males have pointed fins and their throats turn bright pink during spawning.

  • ahh they dont hurt. THey dont have teeth. what are you afraid of?

  • what are u scared off its just a parrot ny a piranah

  • it is a freshwater fish right?

  • @OmgLowBattery Yes, freshwater.

  • @nitwit39 Thanks!

  • I have a parrot too and was wonder why you took the eggs out when parrots are hybrids and can't reproduce.

  • @Pandagirl003 Because she wouldn't eat them and wouldn't let any other fish eat them so they would become moldy and contaminate the tank. We lost 3 fish because of this and had to do a water change after each egg laying.

  • lol

  • funny

  • beautiful. did the people with the 55 ever have a male to fertilize the eggs?

  • lol "Get outta here!"

  • THATS A HUGE FRIGGING FISH

  • LOL ur a bitch XD sorry ...

i let mine bite me when they r breeding... it doesnt even hurt and + they cant close their mouth... and if u think that hurts, try getting bitten by a 75cm+ silver arowana

    :) i was bleeding :D haha

  • @DITCHSPARROW lol,oww that must have hurt,my parrot fish trys to bite me when i move the plants and stuff XD

  • @HUNK71232 HAHA yea i was petting it and it turned around and WHACK and im bleeding :P it hurt a little bit... but i have a high threshold for pain LOL

ohhyea and my parrots breed aswell.... but the best thing to do is let them bit because they have a mouth that cant close and it doesnt even hurt :) .. gonna put a red devil in whith them soon so the eggs hatch :D

  • dang fool your 50 times as big as that thing.. pussy boy

  • how old is she?

  • She's about 8 years old

  • Some are, mine wasn't. She lived peacefully with Gourami's and Pleco's. But she did grow quickly and needed more space than I could offer, thats why we adopted her out to someone with a much bigger tank...in fact, I just got an update tonight and shes doing great!!

  • are these fish aggressive towards other fish thinkin bout getting 1

  • Hahhahah "the gourami has no chance"

hahaha thanks, this video put a smile on my face.

  • lol dnt think we didnt hear u almost drop the F bomb lol

  • what size tank is this?

  • pussy !!! its not gonna bite a chunk of flesh off !!! LOL u scared of a parrot fish hahahahahahaha

  • Is that a 20 gallon tank?

  • It's actually a 37 gallon tank, but not to worry, since we videoed this I found a wonderful family with a 55 gallon tank who adopted her. We miss her, but she is much better off in a larger tank! And now she has other fish that are friendly with her.

  • May I ask how large the tank is ?

  • ur such a humble couple! very cute haha

  • u dont need remove the egg what the hell when the egg dont make it the mother eat the egg dumb assss owner lol

  • @shifter510 the description says if they leave the eggs then the BP wont let the gourami eat.

  • how do you clean the tank with it attacking like that? does it hurt when they bite?

  • they have no teeth unless they catch ure finger one time my footlong oscar caught my finger it killed

  • pretty fish

  • Parrot fish do have teeth. it depends on how well the owner fed and provide for them. All my 4 parrots have teeth. one of them behave like the one in the video, its love to chase n bump decor around. is they nature, we should respect the fish behaviour. they are not freak. human who produced them for greed n money are freak,

  • What are you talking about? This is the area for comments, so I can say whatever I would like. If you don't like it, you can kiss my rear end.

And even though you think you are smarter than everyone and know everything, there are some people here that might not know you putz.

  • @AceLockCo do you know what size tank that is? is it a 20 gallon???

  • If anyone would like me to let them know just how to successfully reproduce these cichlids i will be happy to help.Obviously you must have a male/female pair aged 6 or over AND other neccessities with your fish and aquarium. Also you will need a spare CYCLED 2ft aquarium preheated to 81 degrees. For the method and essential information contact me.

  • And you will need a miracle as the males are all sterile!

  • @AceLockCo how do they produce Blood Parrots if males are sterile?

  • @pcbb01 - In a lab. They do not and can not reproduce on their own.

  • 1. There are no fertile male Blood Parrots.

2 They are man made fish and were designed not to be bred.

    3. They do not have teeth and can not completely close their mouths.

    4. If it "bites" you it won't hurt.

    5. Take the eggs at night when the fish is resting.

  • AceLockCo they are not man made for pete sakes ... they were bread from 2 different type fish that is it .... that dont make them freak fish . I hear people bash parrot fish all the time and it just kills me . I have 5 bloods and 5 jelly beans and you could not begin to ask for a sweeter fish . I would not trade them for any other type fish out there

  • I have had them as well, but they are not a natural fish, and they are freaks. They are really fun fish to have, but that still don't occur in nature (and ARE man made for petes sake) and they can not reproduce. Plus your jelly beans have been chemically colored to look they way they do. And it does hurt the fish.

  • This tank is not too small there's only 2 fish in there.

  • they hurt really bad despite the not-closing mouth. their suction power when trying to bite is enough to hurt. and you scratched the aquarium at 00:30 with the small rock...

  • I heard parrot fish are infertal

  • Many of them are intertal, but all.

    I had reproduced them.

  • @oraclito LOLOL INTERTAL XDDD Infertile* :lAnywho correct not all.

  • how many gallons

  • how much gallons is your tank

  • Wow..I love your fish guys.. her color is great and she is so smart being protective. of her eggs

  • i really like that tank.i like how its designed

  • what size tank is this?

  • What size was your fish when you got it? =)

mine's 4" and I'd like to know how long it takes for them to grow a full 8" =)

  • i heard it takes them more that 10 years to get to adult size. i got mine about 1 half years ago and it only grew 2 inches yet.

  • i hope he bites your finger LOL

  • wow, you parrot is amazing, but why is so agresive, i have 1 and is so cute.

    see ya

  • woah y r u afraid of dat fish atking ur hand is dat fish dannger

  • Comment removed

  • keep your comments to yourself

  • i removed the comment.just for you

  • not big enough, 37 gallons. I'd like to find her a better home..

  • how big is that tank

  • some parot fish have sharp teeth can bite ur finger of

  • mine once bit the tip of my finger off.. lolz. i couldnt feel anything.

  • i was like this when i first got my parrots, but after realising the bite doesnt hurt i took a few, and now chase them round the tank.. :p

  • does the bite have teeth it might have hurt when you will try to remove the rocks

  • they dont have teeth, and their mouths dont actually close

  • You should drop the gourami and then get a MALE convict =D and it may work.

  • agreed

  • theres actually not any reason to remove the eggs, since they wont be fertilized (and wouldnt anyway even if there were a male, 97 percent of male parrots are infertile) they will eventually begin to grow fungus and die, and the female will eat them, that might be slightly less traumatic haha

  • actually, she doesn't eat them and when this first happend they did get fungusy and contaminated the tank, we had to do almost a complete water change. they were toxic

  • haha bummer, toxic eggs

  • actually in the descripton she said they fish was too protective over the eggs and the smaller one could not eat.

  • blood parrots can't bite.......

  • haha that's awesome man, your fish is aggressive as hell. tank does look little small for her tho. but she seems healthy. goodjob
