I find it more than a bit disingenuous that many here are slamming FOX or calling them names ( a favorite tactic used by Mao when he had no legitimate answer to claims made against him) when they out rank all four of the major networks combined. Yes they have many right leaning commentators but the news segments have been shown to be fair. How are they any different than MSNBC with Olbermann, Maddow and the rest of the crew? Is it fair then to say that all news channels are any different?
YEAH CAUSE FOX be on the BS. Not saying they have to agree with the President, but FOX host put out some of the most inflammatory news. They don't mind putting stuff like, "The Presidents a racist" or "He hates America", they'll broadcast that in a min. which is not news. CNN, MSNBC may be more liberal but even when there's a Republican in office they still don't cross certain lines.

What happened next was interesting; ABC, CBS, CNN, and NBC said they would not enter unless FOX was allowed in. Mr. Fineberg conceded and the interview took place. What the other news channels understood is that the Obama is trying to dictate the news by slander and control. The other networks know how dangerous this is and are now speaking out.

I believe Obama has every right to attack Fox News. New should be reported fair, balanced, and unbiased. Fox news is not fair, balanced, or unbiased. It has a clear Republican slant. If it called itself something else, such as Fox Republican Opinions or whatever, I'd have no problem with it. The fact that they tarnish journalism by claiming to be journalists, when in reality they are opinion shows, is what irks me.

I like the President taking on hyperbole directly, but if he is too good at it he could bring Fox and the Republican Party down. I remember when Fox came on the air in the mid 90s. They spent their first years as attack central on Bill Clinton. Yet they spent nearly 8 years cheerleading Bush, supporting him lying about the War, his passing of the unconstitutional Patriot Act, etc. They were like the national state propaganda channel for the Bush Admin. In 2008 they were practically a campaign outlet for McCain/Palin.

From what I gleaned it seems to boil down to the idea that any request for information about the President, or a previous Presidents, must be run by the President and the Attorney General first, with their vetos.
Then I ran across the fact that this overrides EO 13223 set by Bush, which is almost exactly the same, except with a 12 year block on top of it.

- FOX makes regular discriminating, demonising and derrogatory statements about Obama and his administration.
- The White House refuses to take the bait and enter into a open dialogue of refuting FOX which would only lead to mudslinging.
- FOX starts not just merely reporting demostrations or getting involved but actually spearheading and organising them.
