most doctors try to be realistic and honest with they're patients. Chemo is used because it either cures the cancer or slows it down. its not used a a gesture of hope like shakra crystals or prayer.

just to be clear. if you give one patient with a infection a placebo( or alternative medicine) and the other antibiotics they will both feel better. but only the latter will live. the principle is the same with cancer except chemo makes you feel a lot worse.
