I gave up going to church for lent because one is supposed to sacrifice something causing suffering. Hell is ultimate suffering because it is ultimate seperation from God so that not going to church is a little slice of hell. This is what happens when parents shove their 15 yr old closet atheist son into a catholic theology class.
According to their logic if adults have heart attacks then it's God's will for adults to die, so you can't say it's wrong to climb a tower with a rifle & shoot anybody you see.
That leaves no question what these people would have been doing if like Isaac Newton they lived at a time when everybody believed in God.
Most atheists have ZERO capacity for logical thought.
Another statistic they should have pulled out is the survival rate of pregnant women/babies before we advanced our medical sciences. Then it would be even more overwhelming clear there is no "divine intervention".
Pro life people make me ill. They care so much for the unborn and so little for the ones that are. Born to suffer, die, starve, abuse, molestation, & every other atrocity imaginable. Never mind the babies that are born to drug addicts, prostitutes, molesters, abusers, & physiologically damaged people. I don't see Christians rallying to save these children once they pop out. They care more about cells & taking away women rights then the millions of children in orphanages, foster care & etc..
@Strictlypointless That's one thing I never understood about most people who are "pro life". They come up with all these signs such as what about the babies choice and such and then once it's born it practically is non existent to them.
@slickwick45 My best guess or at least one of them on that would be that religion has always had this weird sick obsession with sex and the need to control all aspects of it. Your not allowed to masturbate, use condoms, birth control or have pre-marital sex. So if you can't attack sex at the source then attack it from its outcome, being pregnancy. It at least would explain their complete disregard for babies after their born.
The Bible tells us the wages of sin are death. We're told by religious leaders that babies are born with original sin--that we are sinful BEFORE birth. So why are Christians against abortion at all?
Samaria shall become desolate; for she hath rebelled against her god; they shall fall by the sword: their infants shall be dashed in pieces and their women with child shall be ripped up.
See also II Kings 8:12 and 15:16. Seems like god loves a good baby-killing.
What many people do not realize, comprehend, or accept, is that the religious basis against abortion, while it has many planes of explanation, can rest in: if God wants to take one of His creations, then so be it; but we cannot take that role, as we are not God.
@guate6 That god is a tyrant, then. It makes no sense to take "one of His creations" if his goal is to save everyone and get them to heaven.
If the taken creations get to heaven, then that cheapens the whole concept of life for the rest of us, making it an unfair journey. And if they go to hell, it's unfair for them. Overall it's nonsense.
@guate6 Then why "create" them at all, only to "take" them from the mothers who are carrying these children. To break their hearts? This happened to my sister twice, and she was devastated. If the Christian view is correct, god is a monster and not worthy of worship.
@TheOracle1956 If I understood why God does what He does, I would probably be divine. All I know is that we should trust He knows what he is doing, even if we suffer. Suffering always ends up being a blessing in disguise. In any case, faith is a gift, I know, and not all of us have it.
@guate6 How is suffering always a "blessing in disguise"? You mean what my Mom went through as she wasted away to nothing in agony from cancer was actually GOOD? How so? Where do you get this from? And if we are all "god's children," why is this "gift" only given to SOME? I think faith it is more the curse of credulity, gullibility and fear than it is a gift. Let me ask you this. Do you believe you will retain your personality, thoughts and memories in heaven? If so, what will these babies have?
@TheOracle1956 not only that but they werent alive long enough to be saved so all these babies will burn in hell bc they were horrible disgusting sinners when they were fertilized
@Screatus Some Christians make up new rules so babies will be granted an exception to that so they will feel better in church on Sunday. Remember limbo? That's where unbaptized babies were sent, at least until the Catholic Church decided it didn't exist. How they arrived at that conclusion I have no clue. But you are right - they think we are all sinners and deserve to burn unless we accept Jesus... but infants never got that option. None of it makes any sense.
If we are stuck in that the point of this life is to live this life, then we can never truly see the end. If we go on this life knowing it's all for the sake of the next, then each one of us has trials and issues to deal with to get to the next. Everyone is given challenges they have to face.
Do you feel that personality, memories, or thoughts matter in an eternal joy or reward?
@guate6 How can you "go on this life knowing it's all for the sake of the next" when you don't KNOW? You may want it, or hope for it, but you don't KNOW. If someone is retarded, but believes in Jesus, does that mean they will live for eternity that way? If someone is "saved," but their memories are of being abused and humiliated, will they carry those memories forever? What "personality, memories, or thoughts" will a two year old who dies from leukemia have for eternity? Barney the Dinosaur?
@TheOracle1956 As I said, faith is a gift and not everyone has that gift. How do I know? I simply know. And I know my knowing won't change hearts/minds, but...I know.
And as I said with regards to memories, personality or thoughts...in the next life, the life we're made for, those things don't matter.

@guate6 How arrogant, believing you and those like you are worthy of receiving this "gift" of faith, while millions of others do not get it. If I said "I just know" there is an invisible unicorn in my closet is that sufficient for you to believe it... or would you consider me mad? I prefer to substitute the word credulity for faith. @robtay1963 To all christian, your personal feelings, a friends testimony of how there aunt survived cancer, which many atheist also survive, the bible, your christian bias historical facts, the fact that some people and places in the bible are real, speaking in different made up language, None of these are Scientifically sound ways to prove something exist//////. I fear all Christian who ask me where my morality comes from, please keep believing if yours comes from the bible and don't read OT.
@guate6 memories are imprinted on our brain by chemical reaction, once it is no longer receiving oxygen via the flow of blood it ceases to function, that is a biological fact, you can pretend there is an after life, but simply put there is no such thing a as magic, so without magic where exactly would our memories be stored.
@robtay1963 You are trying to explain this to someone whose beliefs are based on "I know because I know that I know," by using logic, facts and science. There is no hope for this retard. I don't use that term lightly, but this clown is one of the most willfully ignorant people I have ever encountered. I will never ceased to be amazed by the way Christians make things up to answer or explain things which aren't even mentioned in their bible. They are so pathetic, it is almost funny.
@TheOracle1956 The embarrassing part is I was one for a while, and I also explained away facts and logic, but with ever decreasing conviction. At some point I realized my arguments were weak and fake sounding and I started learning more about science in different fields, It does not take a rocked scientist to figure out there is no god, just someone willing to actually seek modern day truths about the universe and our bodies.
@robtay1963 Most of us did. Dan Barker is a perfect example - an evangelical preacher who one day "woke up and smelled the coffee." To me all the "where did the universe come from" and "why do we have morality" arguments are just a smokescreen for the real issue. Once you accept that god(s) is not real and religion is a myth, you have to accept the sad, cold fact of death. Many don't REALLY believe, but are happy to delude themselves because it gives them comfort in the face of inevitable truth.
@TheOracle1956 I've struggled enough in life, I am middle aged, I will grow old and Die, I don't want to live in paradise praising a megalomaniac, I don't want to go through another life with 80 some odd years of struggling. I would much rather just enjoy this life and be done. Once anyone realizes this then the rest is easy, your mind opens and logic and reason can finally take hold. Note to Christians enjoy life does not mean evil, I have social morals to make interaction with others pleasant
When you abort a fetus, it has no chance to be born into this world and therefor has no chance to inherit original sin and it goes straight to heaven. So why do people complain?
For each egg and sperm to progress to a baby, it requires God's cooperartion. Hence the "miracle of life". There is a huge difference between God choosing to not bless this embryo into life vs. a human making that choice.
@guate6 Science and Christianity don't mix because one requires the use of rational, logical, verifiable methods of examining reality, while the other requires you to ignore rationality, ignore logic, avoid anything verifiable. These are mutually exclusive ways of thinking. One requires intense skepticism and verifiable evidence, but the other is against skepticism, requiring faith instead of evidence (or even in the face of evidence).
That's well said, however I would go one further and assert that such a statement could be extended to all religions and their incompatibility with systematic inquiry and reasoned argument.
You can be sure that if Men were the ones who got pregnant, there would be abortion drive-throughs. Religious idots have always stifled progress in the world. My atheist friends will enjoy "Religious fanatic debates Atheist" on my channel.
This whole argument is worthless, because it assumes that Christians would hold their god accountable in the first place. Obviously they don't, or they would not be able to worship something so horrible in the first place.
the more you actually study religion and its teachings you see how utterly ridiculous and immoral it actually is if people didnt get to cherry pick the parts they like of there religion and are forced to believe its entire dogma they wouldnt even consider it
@Menla1 Exactly. One need not be religious or spiritual at all to see that abortion is a form of violence. At the very least a violation of alturism. I would think that an atheist would be more opposed to abortion than a believer. At least believers have the consolation that the childs soul is preserved and continues to exist. For non-believers there is no such comfort.
What gives them the idea that God is responsible for the death of these babies? Besides, when these babies pass from this life- they go to heaven, as they have not reached the age of accountability.
@GODSGRL27 Having an abortion is the only safe way to get your baby away from satan and straight to heaven! Praise god for abortion clinics!!! OF COURSE god is responsible for miscarriages, he just loves those little embryos so much! They can play the heavenly harps without all this life bullshit and being tempted by satan and shit! Praise the lord!
@xBuscopanx no, we do not have the right to take another persons life, man is made in the image of God. He gives life and only He has the right to take life.
@GODSGRL27 This is one the most flawed arguments I've come across. First it's that all of us are born into sin and are sinful from birth. Then it's that babies automatically go to heaven because they can't be held accountable for their sins. Make up your fucking mind.
@ikutsu2001 you will answer for your sins and you will pay for them yourself if you do not accept the payment Jesus has made on your behalf. God is merciful and patient and gives everyone a chance to believe on Him.
killing of innocent babies. God is real and the question that all of you should be asking yourselves is, Why am I an atheist? You talk about God whom you
Dear 200yrCatholic, you are missing the point. The thing is that abortions occur naturally all the time. It's called miscarriage. Even women who would LOVE a child and try hard to remain pregnant keep having abortions. What is the difference between a miscarriage and an abortion? There is no difference except one is done surgically, the other is occurring naturally! (Your God diddit!!)
@2000yrCatholic God advocates the death of countless people in the bible. Does he grant your wishes? Well what about the people that have nothing starvin in a hut infested with viruses? Does god prefer you over them?I forgot god has a "will" it's all according to his plan right? If he is all knowing and knows what it would take to convert me why hasn't he done it yet? Oh yeah it's his will right? So he created me to send me to hell? Think for yourself you don't need some anceint book.
@2000yrCatholic Fetuses are not the same as babies, learn basic biology before you say things like that. No where in the Bible does it say anything against abortion. In fact there are verses that talk about the killing of actual babies (already born if you already forgot the difference); Psalm 137:9. And as others mentioned here, the Biblical flood. If you actually have taken the time to read the Bible you wouldn't be getting schooled in it.
I say that all the time. I would much rather go to hell than be stuck in heaven with all those proselytizers, murderers, rapists and pedophiles. Can you imagine having to listen to Ray Comfort for all eternity? Now that's torture!
Actually that's the 3rd time I have started arguing with someone, who was agreeing with me, in the past couple of months. And I see it fairly often. Its easy to misinterpret a comment because you don't hear voice tone or see facial expressions, amongst other things, that you get when speaking face to face.
But clearly, you explained it well. I just jumped to a conclusion and, for some reason, didn't feel the need to read that last little bit.
And I 100% agree with you about theists arguments.
I certainly didn't read the part in parenthesis, or I would have understood. It looked to me as if you were telling me that YOU believed it was God's will and I didn't understand that...and I hate being told blindly that I don't understand something.
Sorry, I get it now. (Next time I won't skip reading the part in parenthesis. (Since this is where I went wrong)) bleh!
@DontBendOverForAllah It depends on the person. Where I live, all aborted or misscarried fetuses that have "human features" are cremated and scattered in a cemetary according to Swedish law. The hospital/clinic does all the arrangements.
I gave up going to church for lent because one is supposed to sacrifice something causing suffering. Hell is ultimate suffering because it is ultimate seperation from God so that not going to church is a little slice of hell. killing of innocent babies. God is real and the question that all of you should be asking yourselves is, Why am I an atheist? You talk about God whom you
know nothing about, you read the word
of God yet you don't believe. Repent
and believe in God.

@2000yrCatholic
I will believe you if you can answer some questions with logic and rationality...
1. How do you know anything about your god? For instance how do you know he is against abortion?
2. How do you know the Bible is the word of god?
3. Is Jesus a man, god, or both and how do you know?
4. Has god always been here, or was he created and how do you know?
should be simple enough for a true christian to answer.

@2000yrCatholic If you'd read the bible you'd know how silly it is to say that God is against killing. He loves it.

And I 100% agree with you about theists arguments.

lol!

Question - do Christians have proper funerals for miscarriages or are they just chucked away like aborted fetuses?
DontBendOverForAllah 2 years ago
@DontBendOverForAllah It depends on the person. Where I live, all aborted or misscarried fetuses that have "human features" are cremated and scattered in a cemetary according to Swedish law. The hospital/clinic does all the arrangements.
