I have been suffering w/spine issues since 1997 w/DDD Due to osteoarthritis including pollyradiculopathy (multi level nerve damage), stenosis, Ruptured disc L5 S1 & it feels like my legs & feet have been run over by a semi truck from my calves to my feet 24/7. throbbing, burning pain. Take hydrocodine for pain..Any suggestions?
That's one argument that does make sense to me in regards to fusions but I'm no doc. If you asked an orthopaedist or maybe even a neurosurgeon they might beg to differ. Check out artificial disc replacements if you haven't already. I think that they are the future in regards to spinal issues.
Hello Doctor, I hv been in pain on n off of my lower back to my leg n numbness for almost 4 yrs...afetr MRI scanning of Lumbar spine, I was told that I need surgery to correct my spine due to degenerate of disc of the MRI that u showed, I was set n appointment for surgery on 2nd June , I will like to know only through surgery that I can be cured of this problem.I am pretty nervous to undergo on this operation.

I have fought back pain for the majority of my life, spending thousands of dollars on physical therapy, chiropractors, and pain medicines.
Recently I have found by far the best, most economical help ever. Going through this routine every morning has changed my life drastically for the better.
Had my microdiscectomy 2 days ago. After 15 + years of this L5S1 crap, with pain ranging from mildly nagging to more recently, for lack of a better description, suicidal. Its 2 days now and the surgical wound is a bug bite compared to 6 weeks of severe relaps and no med care (please lets not go there) fetal position, bed sores, I just can't desribe... I write this in tears as I sit here in comfort, feeling my feet and toes without any pain ...cept for that lil bug bite. Thanks to good DOCS
is there any one in cornwall who could help me please i have both my ribs are hurting and around my back, think its from slouching sitting just need some one to push my back back in,i dont want to go to these expensive chiropractors, been there years ago if you can help leave a message thanks as havent got mutch money
I have seen a handful of specialists and they've sort of concluded that my lumbar has little - no curve. I have at least one pinched nerve and I'm in constant pain. Do you have any tips or recommendations? The best the family doctor could do was recommend drugs ... which does not really help to increase my lordosis.
Great video. My advice for anyone thinking about surgery, don't do it. I had a lumbar discectomy performed on my L5/S1. I was ok for a few years but now I'm in much worse pain. Surgeons are butchers, how can cutting away part of your disc cure the problem? I had the op done privately through my BUPA insurance. After the op I started to have neck problems & the same surgeon advised me he could cure my neck issue with another op...lol!!! Private surgeons want to operate, they make a fortune.
It might sound crazy, but I have fasted and my whole entire body was so much more flexible, so I am wondering if it would help to fast to relieve back pain. It could possibly loosen things up in the spine. Fasting is powerful !
I tried chiropracty, massage, epidurals, exercise, etc. If you have low back pain, mid-back pain, or whatever it may be, there is a really great read called "Healing Back Pain" by Dr. John Sarno. It conveys the most Responsible Content on the matter that I have ever come across and is NOT "about" anatomy in general. You can google his name they probably have the book at your local library. P.S. I've had 2 discectomies in the past - didn't know better, and...yeah, it's a really worthwhile read.
I as well have sacrum problems. Ive had sciatica now for about 14 yrs. My condition is a unstable sacrum that likes to subluxate. I just found out from a Dr that does nothing but work on people with sciatica, that by getting a "Trochanter Belt", that would secure the pelvic bones into place. Takes about 4-6 months, u can do whatever u like-per say, and the joint will heal itself. See Dr. George Best vids for the info..He will respond back to! hope it helps.
hello will you please advice me in regards to my moms accident and resulting to spondylosis in the lumbar spine, in this case is she may undergo surgery or what?... because in the summary of impairment of my mother it was stated that" she will be placed in a DRE Lumbosacral II and award her a 5% whole person impairment for asymmetrical loss of ROM of her Lumbar Spine as well as palpable spasm"... What does it mean? I hope that you can help me on this i'm willing to give more info about it...Tnx

I have for 17 yrs put off having surgery for my L4 and 5 problem. I recover fairly well with out surgery. But every four yrs or so it slips again...I cramp up and can't even walk. I can't bend or sit or get out of bed..Every one looks with disbelief...I just can't explain the way it feels...Just a hopeless feeling. I don't think I can take much more of this..so maybe it's time to get the surgery?
hi ive had herniated disc n protrudic disc on my l4 l5 for the past 5 yrs.i would get flare ups .the last time it happened i pinched the nerves n was first time i experienced excrutiatin leg pain numbness tinglin etc.i had to quit my job after epidural shots werent helpin i thought i would heal but a year n half later i decided to have surgery im now worse then ever my lower back n down the back of my right leg hurts so bad i feel like u do.: (no one will help me.i just want my life back.help!!
Hi, I read your comment. I sympathize w/you. You see I have been suffering with the same thing for 12 years. I wanted my life back too. Unfortunately w/my condition is inopertable. This was told to me by Doctors. + I have stenosis. When I was diagnosed my daughter was only 3. fortunatly you don't die from this but sometimes you wish you would because you think no one understands what you are going through. But I do! You are not alone. Keep Happy thoughts! ϋ
Very helpful video, I have lower spine disc bulge at L5, extra piece of vertebra and narrowing of lumbar spine. I'm 22 and suffered since 11 years of age with back problem.
Thank you for showing the spine and what normal and abnormal looks like. I have spinal edema and have had a discectomy to years ago and needed to see. This helps.

I have a spondy becuase I was involved in a sports accident. Now I have to do harsh excercises to keep myself alligned. Rods and Screws? No. How primitive is that! No! No! You need to innovate and research! This is medival medicine at its best!
So the rods and screws are crude. And what would you suggest tying your vertebraes with pretty pansies? After all they hold the whole weight of what's above, you head, your shoulders, may be the whole of your torso. So... what would do better? I am interestet.
i think so...I have rods from the top of my back into the bottom...and now im having a lower lumbar fusion and screws going into each hip......it HURTS LIKE A BITCH...dont let them tell u it doesnt..and u will live off pain killer...morphine and percs and oxycontins........did u ahve it?
I just had my second L5-S1 partial today. two pieces of the disk broke off so, yesterday we had the surgery. Still hurts a lot, but the leg pain is gone. Thankfully, the only pain is the surgery wound, that is a good thing! :)
Was it a Minimally Invasive prosedure or the standard "let me see the whole of your spine" surgery? I thoght MIS didn't hurt as much... not sure if it can be used in all the cases, but still, makes me wonder why they still do the old-fashioned muscle cutting.
i have lower back pain but my legs are fine just when i get up it hurts like hell and when walking it hurts
does that mean i dont have a pintched nerve ? or is it just torn muscle

Also dosent fusing discs only cause the pressure to transfer to the disc below the fusions which causes problems for that disc?

fasting means less food intake.
less food intake = less blood sugar.
(nerves use sugar for energy to function (and hurt))
so by reducing your blood sugar, the sugar you do have is used for what is necessary, and high blood sugar can aggravate pain.
