  • Just imagine – It is highly likely that most of these workers became cannon fodder in the 1914 -18 war.

  • Slave labour nowadays too!

  • slave labour those days

  • My Great Grandfather David Mason lived in Elswick at this time. He was a Tailor and I bet at least a few people on this film are wearing his suits!!

  • wow, long ago

  • Even more weird is that they were all wearing flat caps!

  • Just think. Every single living thing in the film, is now DEAD!!! Weird!

  • @TruckManMick And people in the future will say the exact same thing about us if they see a photo or watch a home movie with any of us in it.

  • Somewhere on there is my Great-Grandfather William Charlton and four of his sons! He's the one with the cap and the handlebar moustache...

  • Wonderful. All those faces... all those lives. Wow! Really something.

  • I know really amazing.

  • I paused this lots of times to study some of the faces. It is an illusion of course, but by picking a face in the crowd and studying it over a few consequtive freeze frames, it is like bringing that person back into the living world for a few moments.

  • I totally agree, I never tire of watching these films.

  • @SteffanLlwyd They are all ghosts.
