well these days people pretty much go with either final cut or avid. depending on what you're doing and which one you feel more comfortable with....its pretty much up to you. Avid is very poppular in hollywood, but final cut is more user friendly, IMO. Avid makes you go into 'modes' if you wantn to do somekind of change. and in FCP you just do a command and its done. do some research, and try both. it'll take you about a week to figure out what you feel comfortable with.

If its Windows Avid Liquid wud do just great ..or else Premiere cs4 perhaps..all of these softwares work equally great if given the right degree of hardware.

are you building a Mac or a PC editing studio?
if its Mac i suggest FCP.

Windows: Adobe Production Premium CS4 ; Sony Vegas Pro 8 (this is for basic pro stuff) ; Avid Liquid Pro 7 ; Avid Media Composer
