Exhaust cutout on a turbo? The closer to the turbo wheel's outlet, the more power at ANY rpm range past boost threshold.
On a N/A engine? Good only for mid to high rpms or just to add noise. Will lose precious torque if opened early, 'cause it will will mess with scavenging, something turbocharged engines don't need to bother with.
I am only going to say this once... engines do not need back pressure. Back pressure is the resistance of exhaust gasses through the exhaust system. The less resistance the better. One thing you want is negitive pressure behind each exhaust stroke on the engine to suck out all of the exhaust and help speed up incoming A/F as well as insure all spent exhaust is removed from the cylinder.
There wouldnt be any hp loss no matter if it is turbo NA.
my friend's corolla had a cracked exhaust and it sounded something like this he really wanted to fix it cause he said he looks like a big ricer with that car
how the hell would you lose power, its a turbo, turbos create their own backpressure there for less pipe they have to go through the better for spooling, what they spike and when you spike higher= more power
so how does this help with power? and doesnt it make u run super RICH? whats ur 02 sensors think? dont u ruin them? how is this IF its any better then my 3inch eurosport turbo back? and why or why not
it dose not really help with power but more so faster spool up. the best exhaust for a turbo car is no exhaust. so with him running a dump on the down pipe, when open there is a shorter pipe to travle. a 3in tbe will be almot the same but with a 3in you have to live day to day with the sound. not really fun on the high way. the dump you can open and close at will....
Why would a cutout make you run rich? normally your 02 sensor wont be as far back as that cutout so it has no effect. And contrary to popular opinion, back pressure is not a factor for horsepower, everyone seems to think that you need backpressure on a turbo charger and they couldnt be more wrong! if you run a cutout and you creep then get a better wastegate.
how does it let heat sit up front? when he is moving, or sitting still for that matter, the exhaust gasses are forced out towards the back, its absolutely no different then running a full exhaust in that respect as the gasses heat the pipe up to the same temperature anyway.
In a turbo car cutout's are all good, increased power and torque. In an N/A car, however, the backpressure does help to give more torque at low revs. At high rev's the cutout will give more HP.
cutouts do alot...there simply a short cut in the exhast system...its a way to by-pass all the turns and bends in the rest of the exhast system for extra power on demand...it doesn't matter if its turbo charged or super charged...as long as there after the turbo(s) they will work great...to prove this look at a drag car, thats been specifically built to use every last possible power gain possible...they have the exhast as short and direct as possible...cutout work in the same effect...
Noeysuarez, you are a faggot, backpressure hardly means shit, the cars arent propelled by exhaust air you fuckin moron. Cut outs give huge gains on turbocharged cars especially. go fuck your mom
david, yes but the turbo only needs backpressure to be turned. Whatever happens after that doesnt matter. You can even remove the downpipe right after the turbo.. it will only make more power as there will be less restrictions.

Wow, to make a long story short, it's a piece of shit car with a turbo? and a cut out? lol! I guess when it comes to lil toys like this everything matters right? that's why everyone of you retards are so pissed off!
You fucking cock sucking mother fucker, a 4 banger looses "Backpressure" when you fucking take the cat off or put a cut out you dumbshit, I hate mother fuckers like you who don't know shit about cars!
lol the cut off is after the turbo you dont need back preasure to propell anything so the cutout is there to get rid of exhaust as fast a s possible so theyre is minimal restriction you dont even have to know much about cars on this one its just common logic but logic and common sence died a long time ago r.i.p common sence

There is no horsepower loss. Turbo's don't need backpressure, nimrod.

that ain't healthy for the turbo, lets the heat sit up front

is it a stock Exhaust with a cutout?
blackwall18 4 years ago
Seems like it. I have the same engine (2002 model), and in the closed valve it sounds just a *little* bit louder than my OEM Sports exhaust.

usually at high rev is when can notice the difference on a N/A car, but on the turbo cars, you will notice the difference right away.

Hey retard, before shooting off at the mouth, read up about how turbo's provide enough backpressure themselves.
