This shows Hope's side&front profile&exotic beauty well(plus recording one of her most beautiful songs).Where does she get that fascinating face? I'm convinced from her Mexican Indian ancestors,as 85% of Mexicans are part Indian, part European.Check google images for "Ancient Mayan Art" & you'll see profile paintings of Mayans with profiles just like Hope's.Or check frontal photos of modern Mexican Indians faces&you'll find lots of broad, round faces just like Hope's! Mayan princess beauty!
Hope is amazing but David Roback (the guitar player) is unsung. if you listen to the body of his work from Rain Parade (their first album) through Opal to Mazzy Star it's evident that his guitar playing - work - songwriting - touch comes from equal "depths" as Hope's singing - work - songwriting - touch.
A new Hope album I think, here's a copy of the message...

Re: I saw Hope
I don't know but I know she been doing music and making more new music for her fans. If I see her I will tell her you guess love her. Sometimes she calls me too to see how I am doing.
Another outstanding piece. . . too bad she's not touring anymore, although she claims that Mazzy Star has not broken up, just on hiatus . . .But then what about her Warm Inventions band?
Man! The Wedge! Nice! There was another video on YouTube for a while of them doing "Ride It On"! Was it the same episode as this? Put it up please!!! It was awesome.
Wow, Dan! Thanks for the new upload! Hope looks so nervous & uncomfortable in this one. I wish she liked performing more... Sad that her amazing talent is something she doesn't enjoy.
Hey Adam, yeah she never seemed to be totally comfortable performing on stage. I am glad that she is still singing and recording though. Check your yahoo email, I sent you something.
yeah.. yet annother depressing music post from you dude it's the holiday season!
"I wish I were dead"?
dude you need to get some happy music in your life , I mean Hatfiel is sad enough ..whats up with you? music offers far more than a life of constant sadness and gloom

I used to have this on tape until my mom erased it one morning. The Wedge was great back then with SYL. Thank you for this.
What really sucks is that I still have the tape and could have uploaded the whole segment. She seemed so shy. It was touching.

I saw her a couple of months ago - her voice is so incredible, especially live. (I've got audio under my account from the philly show)

I enjoy Hope's music so much I wish i knew where to find more of it. She seems to pull it from the deepest parts of her being.

My second favorite Mazzy Star song at this time; Flowers in December is my favorite. But my preferences keep changing -- all of her songs are good!

Love this. Halah is my favorite Mazzy song. Thanks for posting it. And Hope, come back to us!

Well, man... Despite what the radio might have us all believe, things are not all puppy-dogs and ice-cream.
There's something beautiful in Hope Sandoval's sadness that wouldn't be present if she were singing some sappy pop tune.
Sometimes art is derivative of suffering. It's nothing new, but it is done particularly well by Hope Sandoval & David Roback.

I don't listen to the radio

Right on... I don't listen to commercial radio either. Public radio is pretty cool sometimes, though.
