yeah. la passion de jeanne d'arc was an incredible experience. I saw it at the cinémathèque here in montréal, they had a live piano and flute player. very memorable. vivre sa vie is terrific too, aside from breathless, it's the only goddard film that i really like. anna karina is effing amazing.
I first watched this clip about a year ago, after searching for The Passion of Joan of Arc. I was a little indignant that footage from the silent film was interspersed with scenes from another movie. Including a reference to Dreyer's movie is a pretty gutsy move, as your own film will probably suffer in comparison. I finally got around to seeing Vivre sa vie, and it's certainly a great movie that manages to stand up to this scene from Joan. However, the silent film is in a class by itself.

2:32 - 2:43 is one of the most iconic and glorious close-up in the history of film. Kudos to Godard and Anna Karina! :-D
