  • God bless The Boys' Brigade!

  • Nice job but why does every band that plays Highland Cathedral always rush it...Its a slow aire and should be played as such..solo drummer introduction, then solo piper with everyone else coming in at the start of the second measure.

  • I stood right at the front of this :) at around the 30 second mark i'm the guy standing to the right of the army caddet :D tht day was brilliant!!

  • i would certainly love to see another, possibly with some different acts although i loved what was on display that night. hopefully it wont be 125 years to the next one. Captain 1st Stevenston

  • I was at this display, it was amazing, the finiale brought tears to your eyes. well done to each and every one who took part..its ours to carry on

  • didn't it just! Hopefully the BB in Scotland will do it again. I never thought i'd see such a great event! Capt 208th Glasgow

  • may i know the tittle of this music? Thank you....

  • long live Boy's Brigade!!

  • The Solo Piper was excellent on the Tattoo. Well done to him on Highland Cathedral and La Baum

  • this is on behalf of the highly talented x horn piper who played the solo part of highland cathedral..

i rule, and you down there, stop taking my credit, ypms#1

  • oh well at least i was playing the lead for the pipes

  • Cool, I was there playing a drum in the flute band. There were a lot of timing problems, I don't know if it was because we were all so far apart.

But it was a good atmosphere none the less and I enjoyed being in the big group.

  • oh my god I would have loved to go there but my company did not know it was on :(

  • Your Company Captain would have known about it

  • i am sorry but he did not

  • 1991ARB, you dont know what your on about. haha

This is a shambles, well done horn piper;) Highland Cathedral should be played on the pipes and drums alone! the buggles? and the whistling things ruin it completely. Pipes shouldnt be adjusting to the way they play it, whistlers should be adjusting to the correct way!

    6th/8th for scottish next saturday;)

  • and to your point about 'other tunes being too fast'

cummon mate, if you were on my side of the band you would hear it played to the best standard it could be played it, didnt you listed to Dave Marr? its not shots and dykes, its the BOYS BRIGADE, we arent grade 1! haha..

and maybe if some other bands learned the tunes correctly then you wouldnt have an opportunity to moan?

    meh!

  • Highland Cathedral is an old German Hymn Tune transcribed by two Germans for Band and Pipes, so for it to be given its full character and played correctly the Band is just as important as the pipers. Also, pipers should be adjusting to whatever way the Director of Music wants it, not how they feel it should be.

  • i was on parade to in the pipe band highland cathedral was played at the right speed unlike other tunes the problem was as always the brass and futes seem to only be able to play in slow time

  • Quite a change from the pipes and drums slowing everything down to funeral march pace. I almost had a heart attack when you came in with Killalloe at about 140 to the minute. Didn't know pipers had it in them!!!

  • killalloe is suposed to be played fast , and it is a shame that the pipes didnt get to play more in the finaly they must only have played a 3rd of what everyone else played
