I haven't read that book-I'll have to put it on my TBR pile. I love Plain Truth by Jodi Picoult, Blonde by Joyce Carol Oates, Speak by Laurie Halse Anderson, Still Life by Louise Penny, And Then There Were None by Agatha Christie, and The Westing Game by Ellen Raskin. I'm a huge bookworm :)

I would definitely recommend you read The Mortal Instruments series-they are exactly what it sounds like you are looking for.
