I'm a prog-metal fan and I absolutely cannot stand 99% of the idiots who listen to that genre. You give it a fucking bad name with your pseudo-wanna-be-intelligent bullshit you spew about the technical aspects of music and the people that play it. Open your fucking mind and grow the fuck up. While prog is excellent, there's more to music than playing 1 millions notes a second.
You have to admit: It's a really peaceful and respectful tune. It's not that easy mixing rock with reggae and actually getting away with it that easily :) (it rocks! xD )
This guitarist is extremely lame. Hey idiot, you're not impressing anyone by having two full Marshall stacks in a video shoot. And do I even have to mention the Dime guitar? Lose the costume guy, it's not fucking halloween. People like this need to grow the hell up.
@snaketrails Not that you'll read this, but Wayne Findlay has more talent in his beard than a lot of so-called musicians. He can shred, play the keyboards and sing better than most, too, plus he's humble, funny and really easy-going. By the way, those are Marshall cabs, but he uses Carvin V3 heads in this, and a variety of Carvin heads when recording. Envy is a mortal sin, snaketrails, which really makes your username all the more appropriate. Peace.
Very good song, I love Mark Zonder's drumming...he has always been an innovative drummer. I really like mark with Fates Warning and I guess that is no more at this point but maybe again some day???...I hope, but this is a very good band.
Is there a point to your comment genius?...are you saying Zonder played with MS?....I could care less, I like him with FATES.......I'd love to kick your skull in.
HAHAHAHAHAHA. When you read what that dude said didnt you laugh? Mark Zonder is King. Why do you think there is a drumset on The Connons of Destruction
This sounds really good. I remember seeing Seventhsign at Senor Buckets for"Blueprint" CD release party. It was mesmerizing. I have since lost my CD of "Blueprint". Anyone know where to find it?
Although I love Zonder's style, I can't get into Slavior's songwriting; too approximate and bland for my personal musical taste.
This comment brought to you by a guy who's been playing guitar and singing for 25yrs, listening to anything from DT, FW, Marillion, Spock's Beard, Pink Floyd, Genesis, Yes, HIM, The Cure, The Mission, Type O Negative, all the way to Pat Metheny, jaaz-fusion, The Eagles, country music, classical and opera.
I honestly thought Zonder had more credibility in FW.
What f'n bullshit! How does Zonder have less credibility in Slavior than he did in Fates or Warlord? What - people aren't credible as soon as they write/play on a catchy tune?! - And if Slavior is bland then half the bands on your list are even blander.
Apprently you have no songwriting skills and you merely base your angry judgement on mere taste.
All I was pointing out was that FW's songwriting was much more thoughtful, tasteful and intelligently put together. I personally find Slavior to be lame, and not because they play a non-intricate style of music, either. Their hooks are weak, they just don't grab.
Without naming names, I've been part of more great music than you ever will. Newsflash: Slavior are not trying to be progged out like Fates. And just because their style is 'non-intricate' (....) doesn't mean it isn't very well put together (like The Cure, Type O or The Mission is 'intricate' and takes great musical skill to play; so much for your musical hypocrisy)). 'Dove' has an amazing hook/chorus - too bad you don't get it!
You don't seem very articulate, in the way you interpret other people's words: I just said that the reason why I don't like Slavior has nothing to do with their intricacy or "being progged out", as you said.
I only stated that, in my humble opinion, their hooks are weak and just don't grab. I find your superficial accusations of "hypocrisy" therefore unfounded and excessive. Please don't get so angry, people should be allowed to express their own opinions.
guitar tabs...what the fuck.....just down tune and play the thing, not even a solo there...i know it aint you but wow all they have to do is watch, easy shit
I must admit the second time I watched the video like a week later I didn't mind it at all and the 3rd time now that I'm writing this response I like it a lot.
Love the singer and the fx on his voice. The bass player should be kidnapped by my band, the guitar player very sharp and mr. Zonder taistful and intelligent as ever!
I hope you get the publicity you deserve Slavior. Good luck!
the real music fans will enjoy this CD. good job GREGG, keep on kickin' ass. mark zonder started drums first on cd then arranged other stuff later. long live rock n roll!!!
FUCKING GREAT!!! I've found this video with no intention, watching a video from Tribe of Gypsies (Gregg's previous band)! Congartulations to Slavior, from Brazil!!
Great song, though it's weird that the chords sound like the chords from Cemetary Gates and the way the vocalist phrases reminds me of Anselmo in CG. Awesome nonetheless.
Love this song - the reggae flavor is awesome. Reminds me of what the Scorps did on 'Is There Anybody There' way back in '79. 'Dove' could be all over radio if a bigger label than InsideOut got behind it.
WoA!!! I'm impressed. Good stuff. I've waited a long time for a "modern rock" band who could willingly incorporate different musical elements (reggae/island for example) instead relying strictly on power riffs.
Reminds me of the aesthetic that The Police and Rush had in the early 80's, while sounding new and fresh.
The thing I love about this band is that they can combine different elements of music into one. Brilliance at its finest. I can't wait for their album.
The singer's name is Gregg Analla. He used to be in a Q'ryche type prog metal band named Seventh Sign that was also on InsideOut about 10 years ago. Then he hooked up with Roy Z's (Dickinson, Halford) Latin rock band Tribe of Gypsies and did 2 album with them. Both the 7th Sign and ToG stuff is excellent!
Guys, I love this sound. It's original, yet at the same time blending many proven sounds together. I really think this is definable -- in other words, I can tell by the sound that this is "SLAVIOR." Excellent musicianship, vocals and production. It also has a heavy commercial flavor. I could hear it on one the heavier radio stations! Good luck.
Cynicism aside, what's "your" point? Your "ears" hear the same "music" that I do. The opinion I gave is based on an objective "hearing" of the music, not because I once played with Mark. That's immaterial. Good musicianship and music deserves recognition. My comments are true, and my post was not "prompted" by anyone or anything other than my own "listening."
