I thought it was a beautifil and strong character ending. He, Ben Afflect, was able to get over the fact that his brother made love to his girl friend. Then he married this girl and raised his nephew as a son. When he looked at his adopted son he saw his brother who he loved.  I think this character was a rare person who is in short supply today.

film is good, but it didn't show what did the americans... yes, japan first killed a lot of soldiers in pearl harbor, but they were preparing to fight. Then, the americans killed a lot of people with two attomic bombs in hiroshima and nagasaki, and the people they killed weren't soldiers, only womans, kids... who didn't have any connection with the japan's emperor. I'm not defending japan, and I'm not culping america of anything, i am only saying that the second war was terrible and on each side
