  • HEJ HILSEN ALI FRA 9.B

  • I have created a music album which charts this same period of British history:

Britain At War - Darkest Hour by Rhesus Monkey. The album covers the Prelude to War, The King's Speech, The Battle of France, and of Britain, and of course The Blitz. I've also created a video to accompany Churchill's address to the United States in June 1941: 'The Old Lion'. You can view that video within my YouTube channel.

  • My mother was from Southampton UK; I don't know how badly her city was bombed compared to other cities in Britain, but in 50's & 60's me & my 2 sisters would see her crawl under tables if a plane flew over, during cold war they would test the air raid sirens she'd about go out of her mind.

She could'nt handle loud noises so good so she'd stay home when we went to 4th of July fireworks shows.

She was tough but WW2 messed her up for a long time....

  • the blitz 40.000+ over a period of a year. 911 4000 1 day do the British use this as fuel for a fire? no we KEEP CALM AND CARRY ON. Americans? mention it in mainstream media nearly everyday. both tragic i know but c'mon america we have had alot worse

  • Remarkable video and thanks for sharing

  • i am learing about this

  • This video made me think of my great granddad Freddie. Who Fought in WW2 for his country and family Shot at for trying to bring peace to his country and Gased taking my great uncle to safety after being hit with Shrapnel. They both died 2 weeks later leaving all there family behind. Its scary to think If it wasn't for my granddad and Many others we wouldn't be living the way we are today.

  • My parents, aunts and uncles, grandparents (now all gone) lived through that for 5 years. My father told me of the Blitz when I was a child, saw their gas masks, their ration books...

My dad told me about playing with lancaster bomber tyres just after the war ended.

Most people don't realise that the rationing went onto into the mid 50s, it took that long for our farming to recover, never mind our towns and cities.

My mother had family in the RAF.

  • more people died of road accidents more than being bombed

  • My great nan died in the Blitz, she was very brave, and so were the others who lived and died, R.I.P The People Who Lived And Died In WW2

God Bless And Save The Queen.

  • WOW more racism you need to grow up seriously this was peoples lives your so degrading your a descrase to the germany of today stop dwelling on the past and live in the present you never know what the future may bring hopfully a psychische Abwehr enjoy your sad racist little life your SAD i feel sorry for you

  • Wow, the gutted church at 2:20 has to be St. Luke's in Liverpool right?

  • Is the building in at 46 seconds the Liverpool Town Hall, with the Nelson Monument in front of it? I think the banner across the columns says 'Dig for victory.' I remember hearing that the Liverpool golf course was ploughed to grow crops (after the May Blitz, '41 I think?) Anyone have any knowledge on that? Cheers

  • God bless the British! and the rest of Europe who had to put up with endless carnage and death throughout the 6 years of war. With the greatest respect to nations such as America, no other country can possible understand what it must have been like for the people of our great country to endure the constant bombing of our cities. Proud to be british!.

  • Its the 71st Commemoration of the Blitz of London tonight infact. I really appreciated this video :-)

  • Where from is this music ? I heard it somewhere, cant remember.

  • @CastaEivissa It is 'Fantasia on a theme of Thomas Tallis' by Ralph Vaughn Williams. Someone once said that Vaughn Williams 'out elgared Elgar'. This piece of music indicates why.

  • @pogmathon100 It was also used on the movie "Master and Commander".

  • I know we Brits give it a bad press. But I'm glad to be born in an era where the European countries are in a union of peace through the EU. Not a union of war...

  • this made me cry i was born in australia and my nanna was a true londoner lady

and i remember sitting on the lounge next to her listening to her tell the stories from her memmories i was very close to my nanna and her strength lives on through her child and grand children i miss her lovely stories that was astounding yet so gripping this makes me so proud to be part british

god bless and god save the queen

  • @MrBennyboi1990 go fuck yourself australian kangaroo fucker, japan fucked you faggots up yet you come here to talk?go fuck your queen and your god,as a german if only we had land connected with britain like france we would had crushed your fucking ancestor pussies, the british are subhumans, the german aryan people are racially superior,so keep on crying little pussy subhuman, and londoners how did you enjoy your blitz faggots?enjoyed you subhumans burning alive?fuck you faggots

  • @ilias2oo6 racism gets you nowhere in life mate i think you might need to get your head read aswell

because seriously the world wars wasnt a joke yeah maybe go back to school and learn about history aswell

and if you said this in real life not over the internet you would be charged and probably beaten

and i am probably whiter than you so yeah proves how much you know

and japaniese never set foot on australian soil

    learn your history mate

    and immaturity goes along way

  • @MrBennyboi1990 haha the joke, you whiter than a nordic german aryan master race like me?shut up slave subhuman dog, dont talk to me your master like that, australian piece of shit using subhuman chav words like "mate",i'm not your "mate" you dog,you make me wish australia was in place of soviet union,we would of crushed you like little bugs

  • @ilias2oo6 you need to watch this also search it

Racist Or Nutt Job You Decide

  • @ilias2oo6 and its people like this in the uk that really piss me off. one thing you need to realize is that where all human.

shouldn't matter about what color, race ect ect

  • @ilias2oo6

why do you think you are superior, just because you slopped out of a vagina onto a different piece of rock than another person?

  • @ilias2oo6 god you're ignorant. Seriously, IGNORANT. Here's a clue, you're German, that means you come from one of the many Germanic tribes just like the English, and therefore Aussies. The English are Saxon, Angles and Jutes - all of which came from Germanic lands in northern Germany down to Saxony. BTW 'aryans' never existed, no tribe was called that.

Of course if you knew anything about history rather than the bullshit you just said you'd have known about the great migration.

  • @galenwolf most of the europeans come from the germanic tribes, the US have 50million people that come from germany, the germanic race(pure one not mixed one like english bastards) is the most superior race

the british bastards are germanics mixed with fucking latino sandniggers

  • @ilias2oo6 Few actual Romans would have come to the UK, the legions they had would have been made up from different people from around the area but not that particular territory (so you're looking at say Gaul and Dacia).

Also if you are so "superior" how come it was the UK that:

    Created Modern Science

    Created Modern Medicine & Vaccination

    Discovered Genetics

    Started the Industrial Revolution

    Forged the worlds largest empire

and broke your "perfect" code right at the start of WW2

  • @ilias2oo6

so go on, explain why the UK has kicked your ass in pretty much every field known to man... apart from football.

  • @galenwolf I'm going to assume that you are just trolling and not clinically retarded, because everyone in the world knows the german technology ,the germans invented jet engines, first jet aircrafts, first assault rifles, first rockets, first jet bombers, miltiary helicopters etc etc etc,Germany now kicks UK in every sector, economically the german economy is bigger than both the french and UK one combined, the German military is the best in europe

  • @ilias2oo6 Actually the Jet Engine was developed by both the Germans and British at the same time, however the UK military at the time didn't rate it. However the UK was the first nation to develop VTOL.

However lets be clear here, it was the UK that developed the first modern computer, discovered he laws of motion, invented the steam engine, and created the first rail ways, we also developed the first factory and kicked off the industrial revolution.

  • @ilias2oo6 Also the German military isn't the best in Europe, you have better rifles than us that is true. However the challenger 2 tank has one the best guns, the best armour and the best survivability rate of any modern MBT. UK special forces are also the best on the planet. The UK navy is bigger than Germany's and we are in the process of getting super carriers. BTW the RAF is bigger than the Luftwaffe even today despite you having more people.

  • @ilias2oo6 BTW GDP.. you're 4th, we are 6th. Lets see where that ends when you've finished bailing out the rest of Europe :D

  • @galenwolf well since you are clinically retarded, you dont know that bailing out a country is basically giving them a loan with lower interest, read the 4th reich book, hitler gave orders before his death to all the german companies to control europe economically wich germany is already doing, and then set a united europe under the superior race's rule,(germanic rule )

  • @galenwolf Germany kicked the british pussy ass in everywar before the US intervernes,if the US never existed the world would be german now,you pussies never fought the germans in a 1vs1 war yet you brag, fucking stupid inbred mongrels

  • @ilias2oo6 Every war? Lets see.... prior to WW1 we where allies. Anyway during WW1 we didn't get help from the USA until the very end of the war. If the 'US' had never existed then it would still be a colony of the Empire, that means we could have been sending troops over right from the get go.

As for 1 on 1, you where gearing up for war, we where trying to maintain peace, but historians said if operation sea lion had occurred it would have ended in your defeat, not ours.

  • @ilias2oo6 We arent playing starcraft here. World wars arent mano a mano showdowns to see whos collective penis is longer.

That being said, Britain and her commonwealth did fight germany alone. They hadnt won yet, but they had not lost either.

Its disrespectful to consider wars the way you do, and stupid (stupid inbred mongrel-like even ^.^) to do so incorrectly.

  • @ilias2oo6 The War is over ,People should look forward . You should also have some respect to your own people ( e.g The city of Dresden, since it was reduced to almost nothing). At the end of the day, we are all humans and should live in Peace.

  • Britain 50.000 vs Germany 500.000 vicitms of air raids . Britain started the bombing of civilian targets and by his desire to erase all the german cities and burning its civilians alive, Churchill is the biggest war criminal of the 20th century, his crime is cleverly covered by all the big lies.

  • @wolfgang911 You started it, we finished it. He who sows the wind reaps the whirlwind. Yes, you thought that we were weak and degenerate. The thinking of the thug and the bully. Dont pick on Britain mate. And how dare you distort the truth in accusing Churcill. Oh, sorry, I forgot. You are a Nazi. That is what they do! How inconvenient that we won, to lay bare the biggest obcenity in history. The butchery of 6 millioin Jews. First prize to Hitler. The definition of a war criminal - you scum.

  • @wolfgang911 Wolfgang911 has his arm at 45 degrees. He is the epitomy of everything I would destroy. Every Nazi.

  • sorry

  • @mensch454 Yes but while those countries remained docile countries like Britain, America, France etc decided to rid the world of the disease that was the Nazis, if we hadn't, what would the world be like now?

  • They could have stayed out of the War, Ireland did.

    so did spain, switzerland.

  • @mensch454

Dublins so-called neutrality ws for the sole reason they did not want to be allied with Britain. There were individual Irishmen who saw the bigger picture and bravely joined up. Spain stayed out probaby because it had endured its own devastating civil war. There was nothing nobel about pacifism in WW2. When people were being put to death on an industrial scale, Britain, the US and the various resistance movements chose not to look away. That would have been easy. They chose to lead.

  • @WORLD8NSH5KNIGHT1 read some unofficial history books instead of repeating indoctrinated lessons. Britain declared war on Germany and not the other way around. Germany only took back its old german land prior end WW1 of which it had been robbed. Stalin took as much of Poland, non russian country whatsoever, however nobody declared war on Russia!!! As a result of this dealing of England we had the ww2 disaster and 50 years of misery behind the iron curtain. What a victory.

  • @wolfgang911 Germays land, prior to WWI, didnt comprise of the entire land mass of the, now, Czech Republic and Poland. Hitler wanted to claim the Sudetenland, but his march on Prague was unprovoked. As was his attack of Poland. Russia didnt get involved until later due to a deal brokered between Hitler and Stalin outlining that Germany would 'share the spoils' of Poland if they allowed Germany to attack. Germany eventually renaged on this deal and attacked Russia too. Get an education, idiot

  • @wolfgang911 Oh and by the way...yes, Britain did declare war on Germany, but only after Prime Minister Chamberlain ordered the British Ambassador in Berlin to issue a warning saying that unless Germany withdrew its troops from Poland and ceased its unprevoked attack, war would be declared. As the 3rd reich ignored this, Britain moved in to help an innocent Poland.

  • @kravitz1106 innocent poland : google bromberg massacre etc in poland and find out there were germans living in poland being massacred before the invasion. further, so what you're saying, it is unfair form hitler to invade in majority german speaking parts of poland or open up a corridor to free danzig (prusen just 8 centuries of german history, "get an education idiot" quote) but it is not a problem for you that Stalin invades Poland and just stays there spreading misery 50 years in a row.

  • Comment removed

  • @wolfgang911 I stand by my 'get an education' remark due to the clear lack of knowledge you demonstrated regarding the German land mass prior to WWI and the way in which Britain got involved. I can conceed, however, that Poland may not have been as innocent as I first suggested, however, with the prospect of Germany once again causing the same destruction upon their country as they did in WWI, it is understandable, though their actions aren't justified, that they may react. However, you must...

  • @wolfgang911 ...also conceed that the atrocities inflicted by the 3rd Reich throughout WII, including the 'German Revenge' in Bromberg (where the Nazis publicly executed hundreds of innocent Jew and non-Jew children and adults in the town square) are equally, if not more, unbelievable. Also, your commebt about Stalin is both unfounded and irrelevant as I have not defended his actions in any way, i have only argued over the actions carried out by Hitler. WWII was started through one mans greed...

  • @kravitz1106 ww2 was started by the greed of judeocapitalism and so will ww3. @kravitz the space on ytube does not allow me to comment in depth on all your one sided remarks. however just go to the maps and see the square m2 of germanic homeland occupied after ww1 then ethnically cleansed of its germanic population after ww2. figures speak for itself. if you do'nt understand that ww2 was a clash between bolshevism, judeocapitalism and germanic nationalism (real socialism) you can not apprehend

  • @wolfgang911 Me not comprehend? You have clearly shown through the way you have missed - and your inability to address in a relevant or coherrent way - any point i have made, that you are the one struggling (to put it kindly) to comprehend. I find it laughable that people in your position hide behind the facade of 'Judeo-Capitalism' as an excuse. Your oblique terms and ambiguous phrases do not fool me. You quite noticably miss the aspect of growing European Communism. Stop wasting my time.

  • @kravitz1106 you did not notice but I returned all your points upside down by this one question : again, how many original germanic homeland was etnically cleansed after WW2 (and stolen after WW1) : then you see who are the wrongers, who succeeded in revenge and what the purpose of WW2 was, to crush germany. If you don"t see the curse of JudeoCapitalism you don't understand the news of today, european nations crushed by debts, globilization, immigrations.. the same as

    in 1933...

  • Please can any body recommend me in the entire world of war movies (any movie fom any country a movie which is realistic about the 2ww ???? i am enough of stupid British especially American hollywood movies (where every German is the evil side, the bad boys, stupid, coward, prepotent, ugly, scared, coiled) i am sick of this shit!!!!!

except the staljingrad by the way its a german movie.every body knows who was the german soldier in 2ww the best of the best

  • @amirturist Watch THE EAGLE HAS LANDED...based on a novel by Jack Higgins

  • 2 people who disliked this are either germans who loved hitler or heartless

  • I thought this was gonna be a tribute to the Germans for doing the Blitz lol.

  • All the casualties during Nazi (and other countries') attacks/occupations were of course terrible and should never be forgotten. However, events in britain are especially awe inspiring because for the first time ever, the blitz was not successful. Had britain and her allies crumbled (as they so easily could have), the world today would likely be a completely different place.

I dont think we consider enough the way WWII would have felt after france capitulated but before the USA declared.

  • I'm 41.

I often encounter young people who, for one reason or another, seem to belive WWII was all about an angry leader named Hitler in charge of some distant kingdom called Nazi Germany existing a long time ago who was quickly done away with.

I don't blame them. My generation and the even older ones share a responsibility here. If we wish Europe to prosper anew, we must teach our children the responsibility of looking back before setting up proud "agendas" for a new, prosperous EU.

  • Thank-you from all us kids who had parents who went through this...nice one Brother....

  • That was very moving

  • i love how you end it with the survival of st pauls... just to cheer us up after all thouse death counts.

  • The spirit of the British people was never broken, which is something to be very proud of. I give thanks to those who fought, and to those who lost their lives, to give me the opportunity to be free. "Long live the cause of freedom. God Save the Queen."

  • @kravitz1106 Well said. With thanks and gratitude from the United States.

  • you have no idea how close hitler was to air superiority over britain.

  • Two people ignore history.

  • bluelizard13579

    Are you ”KICHIGAI”???

British and American peoples are inherently discriminatory nation !

Shame on you” trash the guy”

    (笑)wwwwww

  • ざまああああああwwwww

    差別民族イギリス人は心底アホなんだろう

    (笑)www

  • try to not copy and paste from wikipedia, thanx

  • I am very touched watching this footage; my fathers first wife and four children were all killed in Croydon when a bomb dropped directly onto their shelter in the garden..the house is still standing and was undamaged. He was in the navy.

  • Churchill and the RAF initiaed bombing of civilians this was retaliation. there were 62,000 british civilians killed in the war, there was 3 million german civilians killed, 200,000 at dresden alone. Area bombing another wonderful British invention.

  • @buschey420Not strictly true about Britain and inventing area bombing, The germans bombed Guernica in spain in 1937. But then again don't let facts get in the way of good ol' internet revisionism and your hatred of Britain, crack on sir ;)

  • @illegalbadgerbaiting just remember this Sir Winston Churchill thought that "Keep England White" was a good slogan in 1955 and theres no revisionism there. You think he would be proud of what Britain has become today?

  • @buschey420 a bit like the Nazi invention of using Zyklon B to kill millions of innocent people in concentration camps. Hmmm, seems like the Nazis weren't as innocent as you are trying to make out, does it? 62,000 British civilians you say? Well, how about we add that to the millions i mentioned above, plus the thousands upon thousands killed in every other country that the 3rd Reich invaded. What number will that come to?

  • I not a British however a went and visited some museums in London which include the general situation of London in Bilitz time. I can definitely say that i'm affected but believe the world had worse situation than this for example look for Turkey in the WW1. Soldiers fight in snowy ground without having even a sock...

  • London was the first city to stand up to blitzkrieg - to show that a city and a country could 'take it'. The world owes London more than it knows. As Churchill said after Dunkirk, 'of course, whatever happens, we fight on!' I cannot believe that any like samm3004 could side with the Nazis. They were an abomination - an evil that had to be fought. Like it or not the British were the first show show that they could be beaten. He sides with those who murdered 6m Jews. How sick!

  • @samm3004 well arent you just a massive cunt go spew your shit some where that isnt respecting the dead

dont know where your from but must have been some shit hole the empire walked right over :D

  • @samm3004 A German empire would have been better and less "shitty" than any other empire would it?

the systematic killing of millions of innocent people in concentration camps etc was okay?

  • @samm3004 Yes of course, why did we not see this? Germany would have established a much better Empire than ever seen before ?. No killing of innocents ever ! ( apart from the millions in concentration camps of course)

  • @samm3004 So, you think the best response to a 'shitty empire' (as you put it, but is very arguable) is for the Nazis to create a much more disturbing and evil empire based on the inhumane killing of millions of innocent people that dont fit in to their single minded ideologies? You're contradicting yourself very heavily. Be more careful of what you say, as you are in great danger of making yourself sound like a complete and utter moron (though some may argue that process has already started)

  • @Remember39to45 - "London not being the city it once was"? It's to do with the appalling standard of history teaching within our schools (not taken seriously enough), & the vast majority of English children only being interested in all things American. It's an up hill struggle trying to wean English kids away from X Factor & the like for even half an hour.Look & listen in any shopping precinct/city centre & you'll see the standard of the mothers of this country.Kids don't stand a chance.

  • nobody takes into consideration that you british used us canadians during ww1 as arrow fodder. oh well WE KICKED ASS IN WW2. POURR SOME SUGAA ON MEEEE

  • I'm from Germany. Currently I have the pleasure to study at a university in London. It is sad that English cities were bombed and so many lost their lives. Remember the bombing of Warsaw and Rotterdam too. There are so many terrible things that have been done by mankind in the second world war.

I don't think we actually learned from it. And next big war will include atomic weapons. We better should change our selfish politics soon. If China or India is the next superpower, okay. They deserve it

  • @MiTTeLMeer

Indeed; there were also many innocent civilians killed in Dresden, Hamburg, Cologne, Essen, Dusseldorf, Frankfurt....

We should be very grateful today that we live in a peaceful and unified Europe, even if the institution itself is flawed. But I think we should remember that this was total war so in a way the psyche of the time was different. So many were being killed that people had to become somewhat de-sensitised and it became a case of 'tit for tat'. I think it is easy for us

  • in the peaceful Europe of 2010 to reflect on how terrible it all was; that is natural to us. But we cannot underestimate the sort of sentiments at the time. When people were seeing neighbours slaughtered in the beds in which they slept (on both sides) the natural human sentiment was to feel rage and revenge. Unlike today's conflicts which tend to consist of counter-insurgency operations and terrorist attacks, WW2 was nation states vs nation states.

  • @MiTTeLMeer

I think at least in Europe we learned. I mean Britain and France (and particularly England and France) had been at war for centuries and likewise Germany and France had a long history of tensions but the thought of any of Europe's nations going to war against one another today is allmost hard to comprehend. So if two devastating wars ( more when we consider the Seven Years War/ Great French War etc) could force Europeans to achieve peace, perhaps the rest of the world will follow.

  • @WORLD8NSH5KNIGHT1 Yeah I agree. A modern war between European countries is unthinkable...It looks like any future conflict will be terrorist based and that will be termed a criminal act as opposed to an act of war. Musn't upset certain communities now must we..?

  • My Mum & Dad lived in West London during the Blitz. Nearby Hanworth Aerodrome was targeted along with Feltham Marshalling Yards. Many bombs fell wide of the target and landed on houses. They remember the land mines getting hung up in trees, the butterfly anti-personel bombs...Designed to kill civilians...as well as the usual incenderies and high explosive bombs. Then later along came the V1&V2

The British learnt alot about bombing techniques from the Luftwaffe and paid 'em back...with interest.

  • @Ulanmazurski...I can't figure out if I am talking to an adult or a 10 year old.So all I can say in closing is 'BLOW IT OUT YOUR ASS!' While you are at it,take a hike across the Baltic back to Poland and stay there!

  • VENGENCE ON GERMANY!!!!

  • DEATH TO GERMANY!!!!

  • Christ.....no anger management in Poland.

  • @mikedo6 anger managment, how are we ment keep quiet, when the blood in the soil cries for us to cry with it, how are we ment to keep quiett when our mothers and wives cry so loud, we vry for vengence, vengence soked in blood!!!

  • @Ulanmazurski Wow that's deep man.

  • First off ulanmazurski...read some fucking history other than your own, Secondly dont send e-mails to me that start with fuck you. I AM NOT BRITISH!!! England was invaded by the Normans......not to mention the Romans. Yes Poland has suffered......but so have others. It's not a fucking contest. Take your football based hatred and shove it up your nationalistic ass.

  • @mikedo6 i know british history aswell, normans family inheritance fued, romans simple colonisation!!! miles less than what poland had to endure for the last 1000 yeears non-stop!!!

  • i have two points, firstly st pauls cathedral was not actually a target for the luftwaffe, it was actually a marker, if any of you know london, st pauls is on a high point approximately 1/2 mile north of a straight point in the thames, the germans left it, b ecause it was quite simply a marker, like battersea power station.

also we must remember the devastation caused to all the german cities in return, particularly dresden.

  • @finglaspete warsaw was wiped from mostly wiped away, (during its own occupation!!) our villages were burned to the very ground!!! not even a humble cross on our roadside was left!!!

  • @Ulanmazurski sorry to see you are so emotional and bitter my friend, everyone suffers in warfare, maybe you should put on a tribute to those poles who have suffered if you feel so strongly about it?

i would like to point out to you also that i am neither british, nor american, and i feel that if i tell you my nationality you will too call me some name.

maybe it is is better to look positively to the future, than grimace at the past.

  • WE FAUGHT NON-STOP FOR A 1000 YEARS, WW1 WAS YOUR FIRST TASTE OF ANY MINOR BLOOD SHED!!, POLANDS SOIL IS SOKED BY BLOOD AND ASHES, OUR RIVERS FLOW WITH THE TEARS OF OUR MOTHERS AND WIVES, NO ENEMY FOOT HAS EVER STOOD ON YOUR PITIFUL LITTLE ISLAND!!

  • @Ulanmazurski Whilst I appreciate that you are bitter because of the suffering inflicted on your people, you need to remember that this 'pitiful little island' (as you put it) entered the war in honour of an agreement made with France to repel the forces of the 3rd Reich in Poland. We entered the war tofight for your freedom, as well as the freedom of the democratic world. To call this a 'pitiful little island' is not only an insult to those that inahbit it, but also to the memory of...

  • @kravitz1106 haha 1) we made an agreement in the 30s that if germany atacked us we would defend eachover, until 1941 you all havent lifted a finger to help us. 2) freedom?? after the war you sold us to the russians. then we were sold again in 1989 to the "demokratic world", from 1939 poland hasnt had one moment of hapiness

  • @Ulanmazurski ...those men (and women) of the combined Allied Forces that gave their lives for your freedom. Hatred and bitterness was the cause of WW II, so let us, as many nations united, show that we are above those dispicable people who see war as the only way to vent their anger. Lets us, instead, work towrads a democratic and free society in all nations. I hope that you can find solice in the fact that you are not alone in your worries.

  • With all due respect to Polish victims of WW II including Patisans.....Ulanmazurski....you come across as an ignorant FUCK.

  • @mikedo6 FUK YOU!!, is it ignorant to call the memory of the past, you british do not have that memory, you have no memory at all. your society is based on treaturess greed and that could be why you have came out so good after the war!!

  • My Mom was a 21 year old Londoner during the Blitz. She served in the ATS driving an ambulance. She also lost her home to the bombing. It amazes me what her generation endured.

  • @mikedo6 my mother also drove an ambulance in london . She was at several stations during the blitz. My father who sailed with the Atlantic convoys said " her job was more dangerous than mine" God bless them both..

  • @kohedunn we had no ambulances, our dead (which there were hundreds every day) were draged and buried by hand by there loved ones (if there were any left) or by a good man or just left there to rot!!

  • @mikedo6 imagine what the polish generation endured - seeing there entire family burned or shot infront of them or just finding them all dead in there house (if it was still there!)

  • AND YOU ARE ALL SO PROUD OF THAT "BLITZ SPIRIT" (its almost comical) you MANAGED to lend your neibour a slice of bread!! try explaining your patriotism to a partizan who escaped from the city into the forest to fight the enemy no matter what it was (not even owning a gun most of the time) constantly in fear of his family back in the city eing wiped out. Or a farmer trying to save his village with a group of ten from a batalion of the gestapo!!

AND WE FAUGHT FOR A 1000 YEARS WITH PATRIOTISM

  • @Ulanmazurski Hey polski bastard, why don't you turn the capslock off better still why don't you fuck off back to poland if you love it so much? You forgot to mention the poles who helped the Germans find out where the Jews were living or hiding, what about all those polish policemen who collaborated? I'll tell you whats comical, the German wehrmacht absolutely fucked your polish army in just 1 month, thats comical, you piece of shit. What's more comical is that we left you to the Soviets...

  • poland had NO collaborators, if your in doubt, polish are the most noble people in europe (not corrupted by fear or money like western civilization) look at france, denmark, holland, belgium, spain... all of them were mostly traitors, but not poland, and we paid the price for that with our blood. and if germany would have invaded you at that time you would (lacking courage and loyalty) would fall in a week! and a proof of your treaturesness is that you SOLD us to the soviets!!!

  • ALL OF YOU BRITISH CRY SO MUCH ABOUT THE BLITZ AND SHIT, YOU WERE NEVER INVADED!!, YOU WERE NEVER SHOWN HATRED PHYSICALY!!!

YOU SHOULD SEE OR HEAR ABOUT POLAND!!!:

    -VILLAGES BURNED WITH PEOPLE

-PEOPLE MURDERED DURING NIGHT AND DAY ON THE STREET

    -CITIES STARVED TO DEATH

-PEOPLE (NO MATTER WHETHER JEWISH OR POLISH) TAKEN INTO DEATH CAMPS Y THE MILLIONS

    -PEOPLES FAMILIES TORN APART

    -PEOPLES MONEY TAKEN FROM THEM

BUT WE STILL FAUGHT FIERCLY ALL DAY AND NIGHT FOR OUR SOVEREIN LAND!!!!!!!!!

  • @Ulanmazurski . i am truly sorry for all the peoples of Poland. Britain declared war on Germany for good reason. And i might add, stood alone for quite awhile. Of course Canada , Australia. and New Zealand Joined right away. They did their best. My Father, a New Zelander was an officer in the Merchant Navy , and sailed with the convoys in the north Atlantic to bring supply's and food to England for the civilians and troops. many ships were sunk. But i am sure you already know this.

  • @Reasonable99pct shut the fuck up dude u hav no sources and it's a load of bullshit so shut the fuck up lots of people died and u think it's a conspiracy!! -:(

  • This video is irrelevant. The bombing was much less than this drama claim in its repeated and localized images. Also if considered that the war was instigated by Roosevelt/Churchil for their own benefits (vanity for the former and dismantling the British empire for the latter) and that it was the British who actually started to bomb Berlin during the nights, so makes this video flat and hypocritical.

  • I was horrified to learn that the Rothschilds banking dynasty funded both sides, in both WWI & WWII.

  • My nan was a sister in Norwitch hospital during the blitz. She told me of how she went back into the building after it had been hit to carry out a missing patient.

It brings a tear to my eye to think of their heroism and wonder if we could ever show the same solidarity again.

  • Now 70 years on I think of the many thousands killed, injured and made homeless across the United Kingdom; from London to Liverpool, Belfast to Birmingham, Coventry to Clydebank, Sheffield to Sunderland and many other cities. I also reflect on the many innocent German civilians killed- many of whom had no choice but to obey the Third Reich. Perhaps now is as good a time as any to hope the world will not see another global conflict, though I fear that may come.

    To all the victims, RIP

  • @WORLD8NSH5KNIGHT1 what about a several billion dead in poland??

  • @Ulanmazurski

I will give you the benefit of the doubt and presume you meant 'several million' as the WORLD POPULATION then was not even 3 billion. Yes, its true Poland suffered enormously, so did China and Russia in terms of lives lost but this video is about the Blitz and so my comment referred to that; I certainly wasn't minimising the terrible suffering in many countries in WW2. If I was to mention all the suffering of WW2, there would not be enough space....

  • @WORLD8NSH5KNIGHT1 typing error lmaoo :P

  • @WORLD8NSH5KNIGHT1 german civilians had the choice, don`t forget they voted hitler in

  • @spokesey55

thats true only to an extent. The Nazis were political thugs who often used threatening tactics. So whilst too many people were genuine supporters, a significant number absolutely did not support the Third Reich and some took personal risks to oppose it. And bombs do not discriminate. I wouldn't be surprised if at least some BUF supporters were among the British casualties....

  • God of our fathers, known of old--

Lord of our far-flung battle line--

Beneath whose awful hand we hold

    Dominion over palm and pine--

Lord God of Hosts, be with us yet,

    Lest we forget--lest we forget!

    Rudyard Kipling.

  • Thank you for this Tribute, a truly fitting reminder to never forget the brave people during this terrible era - as we remember here in Australia. My uncles bravely flew with RAAF & RAF, & they firmly believed in what they were doing, they were protecting (& sometimes dying for) the freedom & democracy we have today. Lest We Forget

  • one must remember also the suffering caused by the v1's and the v2's.this is a very good video btw

  • well im 25 but i think ww1 and are the biggest tradgedies in the 20th century up till 9/11 i think. all cos some idiot wants to rule the world....hmmm sound familiar.....adolt hitler was a terroists....

  • What a wonderful tribute !

  • That was a video worth watching, and remembering too....

  • my family where from the eastend and where bombed out 5 times, im 19 and most the young people i no dnt even no this happend

  • This makes me miss Great Britiain. Such a wonderful people and wonderful Country. The British are gaddam amazing and strong. I'm glad to be a "half Brit" ! :)

    Much respect

  • Great video.

Can I please ask you the name of the first song?

  • stupid question- where did they put all the rubble afterwards?!

  • @alex871uk It was dumped in the suburbs. There is one next to Crane Park in Hanworth. You wouldn't know it today, it just looks like a raised bit of ground, but before they dumped the rubble there it was low marshy ground. I know this because my Mum lived in Saxon Ave backing onto this ground. Her Dad built a whole shed out of old doors from bomb damaged houses which I remember as a kid. Most of the rubble is bricks etc, but a few ornaments, statues etc were also dumped...and liberated.

  • @Butchuk2007 fascinating answer, thanks. I knew it wasn't much used for rebuilding cos everywhere you look is 60s era concrete. Brilliant idea for a shed!

  • another city that was targeted was Swansea my grandfather and grandmother remember the war. my grandfather lived just outside of Swansea city center which was massively hit, a bomb hit his back garden right above his air raid shelter but never went off luckily though he and his family were with a relative down the street if they were thee and th ebobm had gone off well I wouldnt be here today. My grandmother lived in the country side of Camarthen not far from Swansea and said that from a certain

  • @EvanescenceRULEZ01 window in the house they could see the planes flying towards Swansea and could see the glows of the bombs going off and the fires. The things people saw amazes me yet makes me sad

  • @photolitherland

Its been said, that members of the trine society

(secret society hitler was part of)

forced him to rant and hate about the jews

  • I'm a 22 year old londoner and most londoners my age dont even know that the blitz happened

  • @jigglyfidda125 Yes your right, I'm afraid that's down to the fact that London is not the city it once was...

  • @jigglyfidda125 i know, its shocking isnt it. I wouldnt say most, but a lot hough.

RIP to all who lived through those horrid times, and i give my hear to the people who saved us, just to watch our young grow up forgetting it. If it happended today, would we have done a better job?? RAF WE PRAISE YOU

    x

  • @photolitherland what you are saying is no different from prejudice against religion. what if an atheist committed murder and killed many people. would i say that all atheist are bad? of course not, because i am not cynical and wouldnt blame everything on it, unlike you. thats basically what you are doing to religion.

  • @photolitherland may i remind you, hitler was not a practicing christian. he didnt read the bible reguraly, never prayed from day to day, he never even stated what denomination he was a part of. i hope you realize that almost every religion has a god. "gods work" can refer to any god. but of course you only use christianity as a scapegoat. hitler is condemned by everyone in christianity, and seen as an evil man, so donus with something we condemn and look down upon.

  • David Cameron needs to brush up on his history when he stated in the US that Britain was a junior partner in 1940! We stood alone at that time.

  • @photolitherland true story? more like an assumption of yours. ww2 was not based solely on hitlers prejudice angainst jews. hitler was raised catholic but when he grew older, he ceased religious observance. hilter never preferred a specific religion. hitler also went completely against christianity. he committed many sins and went against the ten commandments. so if he was christian, it didnt matter anyway because he didnt properly follow it. middle eastern conflicts are political not religious.

  • @photolitherland how so? most wars are are because of political reasons. people just use religion as a scapegoat because they are too ignorant to respect others beliefs.

  • Not all bad, gave us a chance to start again, redesign cites from scratch and make new buildings. I don't loathe the Germans, they are ruthlessly efficient in all that they do, very sagacious, polite, well manered, well informed, know about world cultures, very accurate and bloody good at football, not that I know much about football i'm just a woman, take it easy please. Never really see many videos about Hamburg or Berlin there are some on Dresden though well worth a look.

  • we bits have always been strong and mucked in when times are hard i would hate to think what would happen now if it happened agian the spades would loot the place lets have it strate

  • it is very scary to think what Western civilization would look like today if England had caved in and acceded to Hitler controlling the continent

  • Hitler made a mistake when he turned the Lufftwaffe from bombing military targets and aimed at the innocent people of Britain. The bombing had crippled the Royal Airforce and the merchant and Royal Navy was taking a battering. But he changed his mind and attacked the cities and the population instead, in an attempt to terrorise us into surrendering. He should have known better, terror does not work! With our backs against the wall we will go on! The airforce recovered and drove them out!

  • @thebigJM92

The blitz was a response to the RAF bombing Berlin (Guering had given a personal guarantee Berlin would be untouched,) still you're right if they had kept targeting the airfields for another month we'd have been in a real fix.

  • @MaxSafeheaD Guerring gave a personal guarantee that Berlin would not be touched, backed up by a ring of AA guns and the knowledge that Berlin was too far for enemy fighters and most bombers to reach. That combined with the immense power of the Lufftwaffe seemed to ensure he would be correct. When the British did manage to bomb Berlin the damage done was little, but the effect was immense (as was the bravery of the men who did the mission).
