The M5's have issues with their Vanos and clutch all the time. The E55 is so bank vault reliable. The tranni's are rated 1000hp. Most M5 owners will say "lets take it on the track and see how it handles then". Nothing like coming to a stop light and blowing the doors off an M5, while his oysta girl friend asks Why? hey porsche02, 4.6 0-60 is bmw's estimate for the m6. Actual testing puts it at 4.1 or around there, and also, what m5board said, this is not 0-60. The m6 will destroy an e63 above 100 mph.
Agreed about Kleeman. There used to be a Stage 5 (yes, 5!!!) Kleeman in the US that trapped only 110mph at the 1/4 mile. There's videos of that slow K5 on youtube. Stock E55s are much faster than that K5 and probably that K4 in the video.

Just saw it now, this Kleeman K4 is not much faster then a stock E55 it seems. But every car runs different when modded. I have seen one of these hang with a new Z06 with bolt on mods up to mid-high speeds.

I've done a mistake, the Kleeman's gear box is very slow in comparison to the M6's Gear box... it is sufficient watch the other videos about this challenge!
Anyway, I found BMW hp is somehow more powerful... Does M6 really have 500hp? Or 300hp for 335i? Those 335's smoke C55amg anywhere or Audi's S4, and tBMW still gets 25MPG(average), amazing cars....
M6 is 507bhp! the SMG and carbin roof and the fact its a coupe would have been a plus. The M6 is a much better car! However the E55 is far from a slow car.

It tows my trailer, overheats sometimes, leaks oil a bit, I run it on Bio diesel which I manufacture, (one of my businesses,) and use it to do renovation work on any one of my four houses that requires it. I have one last thing to add though and then I willo say no more on this subject: I had two M3s in succession (E36 then E46), the latter with the standard 343bhp. Yet my friend with a mildly tuned 275bhp Golf R32 would shit on me, even in the dry! And I have driven the new M5 (but not M6) and it wasn't that fast, similar to a Carrera 4s, but certainly not a 911 turbo, which I keep up with in the AMG. Peace out to you too

There are some quality comments on here, like an M beating a carrier-launched Tomcat, which'll do 0-150 in under 3 seconds. Unless BMW has come back from the year 2130 with a specimen, I don't think so...
And as for an E55/ CL55, 0-60mph in 4.4, M5/ M6 4.9. 55 0-100 8.7, M-series 10+. The auto-shift, if you use the wheel buttons, is instant, it certainly doesn't let Mercedes down.
As a Kleemann dealer let me tell you that what ruins the Mercs is the gearboxes. Swap the auto shitbox for a decent gearbox like the BMW SMG and you'll notice the difference. Even the SLR is a 5-speed auto!!!

The part that bugs me about all of these M5 and M6 board videos, is they never actually wind the vehicles out to their full RPM. One can clearly hear the SMG shifting slowly (not set to the quickest setting). It makes me question these videos and if they are actually accurate.
A normal E55 cant beat either an M5 or M6. Ive seen heaps of vids showing Mercs being snapped by these cars. Its because of the M5/M6's SMG3 gearbox, it electronically shifts like a manual many times faster than a conventional manual or a top line auto, also means throttle is constant through the gears (unlike some)and faster shift times = pwnage of dicey mercs :D

hey porsche02, 4.6 0-60 is bmw's estimate for the m6. Actual testing puts it at 4.1 or around there, and also, what m5board said, this is not 0-60. The m6 will destroy an e63 above 100 mph.

Agreed about Kleeman. There used to be a Stage 5 (yes, 5!!!) Kleeman in the US that trapped only 110mph at the 1/4 mile. There's videos of that slow K5 on youtube. Stock E55s are much faster than that K5 and probably that K4 in the video.

Just saw it now, this Kleeman K4 is not much faster then a stock E55 it seems. But every car runs different when modded. I have seen one of these hang with a new Z06 with bolt on mods up to mid-high speeds.

I think you both need to get a life, arguing about cars. I drive a 94 discovery 300 tdi with 140k on the clock. It tows my trailer, overheats sometimes, leaks oil a bit, I run it on Bio diesel which I manufacture, (one of my businesses,) and use it to do renovation work on any one of my four houses that requires it. I am also in uni, can't afford a decent car at the mo, cuz i've invested. Really couldn't give a fuck tho, it gets me from A to B.

By the way "Idiot" a stock E55 does 0-60 in 4.5 seconds and has 516 ft/lbs of torque while the E63 has 465 ft/lbs of torque. The E55 in real tests is actually faster. Yet my friend with a mildly tuned 275bhp Golf R32 would shit on me, even in the dry! There are some quality comments on here, like an M beating a carrier-launched Tomcat, which'll do 0-150 in under 3 seconds. Unless BMW has come back from the year 2130 with a specimen, I don't think so...
And as for an E55/ CL55, 0-60mph in 4.4, M5/ M6 4.9. 55 0-100 8.7, M-series 10+. The auto-shift, if you use the wheel buttons, is instant, it certainly doesn't let Mercedes down.

As a Kleemann dealer let me tell you that what ruins the Mercs is the gearboxes. Swap the auto shitbox for a decent gearbox like the BMW SMG and you'll notice the difference. Even the SLR is a 5-speed auto!!!

as far as luxury and refinement the benz is unbeatable but if you want the seamlessly perfect blend of performance, handling, luxury, and gorgeous styling the bmw really is the only way to go

ja, klar, wenn der 55 wirklich 640ps hat dann hat der M6 überhaupt keine Chance - vor allem nich mit den langen Gängen vom Benz. 140ps Unterschied und so ein Ergebnis? Wer's glaubt ist selbst schuld :)
Und die GT1 "Autos" haben (so gut wie) rein gar nichts mit den Serienwagen zu tun - das wäre so, als würde man behaupten, der CLK GTR wäre genau dasselbe Auto gewesen wie ein CLK320 o.ä.

No, on second thought these races are for real and not staged...I like the one where the M6 races a carrier launched F14 Tomcat and beats it by at least two car lengths! And to think that with out the catapult launch, it would probably be 10 car lengths ahead ...Whew hoo! M6 yeah!!!!!!

Sorry, just wanted to clarify: Did you really say you would run up with an M3CSL or a 997 GT3RS against a C6 Z06? WOW!... OK I am done with this one..I live in an area with more Porsches and BMW's than probably anyplace in the world..I hand the 997 GT3RS drivers their ASS on a regular basis...Please dude........The C6 GT1 car is just about unbeatable! Yes it's a pushrod motor also .....;)

Um hello, did anyone see the M6 get a huge head start??? Dont get me wrong the M6 is a fast car, but it is not going to beat a Kleeman Mercedes with 600+ horse power. The M6 doesnt have nearly enough torque to do that....

The part that bugs me about all of these M5 and M6 board videos, is they never actually wind the vehicles out to their full RPM. One can clearly hear the SMG shifting slowly (not set to the quickest setting). It makes me question these videos and if they are actually accurate.

The tires can still chirp with the traction control off. The only time you really notice it is with the Launh Control off.

A normal E55 cant beat either an M5 or M6. Ive seen heaps of vids showing Mercs being snapped by these cars. Its because of the M5/M6's SMG3 gearbox, it electronically shifts like a manual many times faster than a conventional manual or a top line auto, also means throttle is constant through the gears (unlike some)and faster shift times = pwnage of dicey mercs :D
