As far as I know, the original Ninja Gaiden games stared a nameless ninja, though it could have been him, stories of the old arcade games were very uncomplicated.

To my knowledge the actual full flushed character named Ryu Hayabusa was made popular in the DOA games, then when those got popular they decided to reboot the Ninja Gaiden games and then his popularity exploded. Yeah its kind of confusing, even the wikipedia article isn't helping very much.

Remeber, Kratos is a badass, but you will see him getting broken to shit and executed like crazy. But GOW is already Gorey so it wont really matter. Xbox on the other had dosnt really have exclusives with that much Gore in them. I mean Gears of War(Also GOW lol) has gore, but Marcus Fenix isnt much of a hack and slash character.

this games seems to be souly based on scorpion or mainly around him. e.g both eu and u.s figures scorpion is kickin sub zeros ass, and in the demo scorpion is the character around the background before clicking on the game and when u press start scorpion hits subzero again.

The xbox version should have Ryu from Ninja Gaiden or something. Both GoW and Ninja Gaiden hack'N'slash games, so it would make some sense. Not that Ryu is as popular Kratos perhaps but they kick the same amount of ass (mayby Kratos little). Otherwise if they just will choose some well known xbox charachter it would only be someone like master cheif and... He's cool and all but not fit for a fighting game.
