Go on and sail away, tiny sparrow. Spread your wings and fly to the sun. Catch the wind; don’t let your heart belong to anyone— Sail away. Sail away from all the sadness and sorrow, sail away. Sail away and find yourself a life of freedom. Find all the feelings you’ve been dreaming of. Try with all your might to find the light That’s within your heart. You know you’re the one you’ve got to learn to love. Go on and sail away, tiny sparrow….
@bolt9193 Sail away, tiny sparrow. Spread your wings and fly to the sun. Catch the wind; don’t let your heart belong to anyone— Sail away. Sail away from all the sadness and the sorrow, sail away. All your friends had said love was made in heaven. Well, the last few years have been a living hell. When all the tears have dried, And you have tried to find a way. But there ain’t nowhere as far as you can tell. Go on and sail away, tiny sparrow.
@bolt9193 Sail away tiny sparrow Spread your wings and fly to the sun Catch the wind, don't let your heart belong to anyone Sail away, sail away from all the sadness and the sorrow Sail away Now your friends had your love was made in heaven But the last few years have been a living hell But now the tears are dry and you have tried to find a way But there ain't no way as far as you can tell Go on and sail away tiny sparrow (Rest of Chorus)
So you (something about) yourself a life of freedom, find the feelings that you're always dreaming of, tried with all your might to see the light within your heart, you know that you're the one you've got to learn to love, (Chorus)
This sounds slower than what appears in the diner scenes in the film. It could be a different take of the song or it could be that when this was put in the film it was sped up a half step so it sounds faster in the film than it does here because it does sound different than the movie version.
October 25th, 2011, on the iTunes collection "Friday The 13th: The Ultimate Compilation,' which itself is a teaser for the upcoming Friday, January 13th, 2012, release of a 6 CD boxed set of ALL of Harry Manfredini's music from the Parts 1 to 6 (he didn't do Parts 7, 8, FvsJ, or the 2009 remake, and New Line owns the rights to his work on "Jason Goes To Hell" and "Jason X," which have been released anyway). That boxed set is going to rock so much!
I just downloaded this myself. I'm so grateful to have it finally, but is it just me or do the vocals sound a bit warped, like the song has been slowed down? I thought it was faster in the movie, and the voice was more high pitched. Maybe I'm wrong. I'd have to check the movie again.
i'm so glad u posted dis i been luvin dis song since i first heard it as a child watchin mrs voorhees murder, but this isn't the original recording is it?
but again thank you definetly a friday fan favorite
According to Harry Manfredini, it is the original recording. I assume it's remastered. Also, it's not processed to sound like it's coming from a crappy radio (as heard in the movie).
@MadTheDJ Actually, it is a slowed down version on the album for some reason. it has a faster pitch in the film. If you speed up the pitch of this track to 115%, it matches how it sounds in the film.
It's more likely that Cunningham pitched it up for the film for whatever reason. Harry worked on compiling these two collections, so I seriously doubt he'd slow down the song. The version in the film is not definitive, it's simply a snippet we've heard for 30 years without a proper released version. The Lion track, "Love Is A Lie" from Part IV, the version in the film is also slightly different in places. Differences between the original and the film versions pop up everywhere.
this is pure Treasure

It's so great to finally hear this!!!! It's a shame this was never a song released to radio. I think if it had it would have been a big hit.
