  • Not sure where you mean, but I think you mean the Gallitzin overlook--

where the eastbound trains go down "The Slide". It's a bit tricky to find.

There is a dirt road by a house with a small sign about a few hundred yards from

Carole's Confectionary / Deli. One of my favorite places, spent many hours there trying to get a 3 way meet---to no avail. Doug

  • We would love to have you come up to Carole's Confectionary in Gallitzin, on Tunnelhill St. We got Hoagies fresh daily and tons of snacks and tastykakes! Stock up on your hike down over the mountain to the east portal and Bennington Curve :)

  • Your work is splendid Doug . Looking forward to watching your other videos

  • @NSrailfest --Well, track 1 is pretty much always Eastbounds.

    Track 3 is always Westbounds.

Track 2 is usually Eastbounds too because heavy loads coming UP the mountain

(Eastbounds) move slowly on Track 1 and faster frieghts pass on Track 2.

Thus, you would miss eastbound coal drags at The G Tunnel (T1) and I would say you would see about at least 50 per day including helpers---as long as the economy keeps improving like it seems to be doing---Doug

  • Nice series guys. Doug- I'd love to meet you. Tom- I'll see you this weekend. The last time we stayed at the Inn, about a year ago, it snowed all day, both days. I hope it does the exact same thing this time.

  • Thanks, Someday maybe, I am gonna try to get up for a big snowstorm this winter,

    depending on Mother Nature.

Have a great weekend-gonna get cold there for sure. Doug

  • @bertbert14 NSrailfest--The traffic has really picked up recently with all the coal and the new ethanol(sp) plant.

I just retired this week, so I just might be there around that time too.

    Doug

  • Oh yeah. Tom Clark, look him up on facebook, he's my friend there. He's a big fan of the SD70M-2 and GEVO's. He's a huge convert.

  • Simply a great area and a great place to stay in, you'll never go long without seeing a train! Tom is the best!
