On CPUs which matter today (990x, SB) silver arrow wins by a degree or 2. Also much quieter. TY-140 fans are excellent

Actually a lot of review sites have shown that both the D14 and Silver Arrow perform temperature wise about the same, but the Silver Arrow is much quieter.

However, the Silver Arrow is actually taller than 160mm as Thermalright says because of how much the heat pipes stick out on the top.

Just ordered the Silver Arrow to replace my H50. I decided to get the Silver Arrow over the NH-D14 because I've read that it is superior, if only by a few degrees.

@26psyside Frequency doesn't matter, the voltage does. That's where the heat is. At 1.35v hitting 4.2 GHz they're almost even, maybe 1 degree cooler on the SA. I still have the Noctua just because it's complete overkill and I love it, but they're essentially the same thing at that point.

Best air cooler on the market as of 11/26/10. Period! Only Noctua Nh-D14 comes close, but the TSA is sooooo quiet. Amazing thing is that I can unplug both fans and run heatsink ONLY on my i920 @ 4.0ghz. That is insane!

Thermalright have ripped-off the Noctua D14 design, dual rads, with a 140mm circular fan in the middle using 120mm mounting holes, they even followed Noctua's horrible choice of fan colours, so you can now choose between the sickly beige of the Noctua or the bile green of the Thermalright. The Thermalright offers better compatibility for motherboards and memory. The Noctua has x2 more heatpipes but costs £10 more in the UK, I suspect both units will offer top air cooling performance.
