Atlas is shrugging already. Most multi-national corporations have already moved their main offices overseas. Google, Foster-Wheeler, Ingersol-Rand, Tyco, just to name a few. It's not selfish, it's survival. Business is hard enough already. We don't need a goverment standing in the way. Ayn saw a class of leaders willing to fight for their freedoms, and property, but the truth is, it's easier to just walk away, and do business in a country that wants you there.
selfishness, like the word argument, spurn an immediate negative thought process in all our minds due to the nature and reality attached to them, however at their core are not inherently negative. if not for the selfishness of those who live as they see fit within the power of their own minds the less fortunate would be far worse off and there just isn't enought room for a post to explain that clearer so my only qualification can and will be to say read romantic manifesto and atlas shrugged
The experts did less research than she did. they didn't ever say anything, they just insinuated. they said what they didn't know, and thats what the public was scared of... All science holds its roots in "anecdotal evidence", or the mind of an INDIVIDUAL.
@se7en0fclub5 i was going to insult you but that has already been done by Ooster... so i will try to help you instead... you need to either read or re-read atlas shrugged and/or the philosophy of objectivism...
@TheDystopiaInside u know her philosophy, but did not write wether u agree or disagree. those people: bill gates, warren buffet, ted turner etc... who said "fuck you i've got mine" are also the ones who employ thousands spawning and foster new ideas and companies. they also have plans in place to give billions to cancer research and childrens charities before they pass. rand has made it clear that private gifts are necessary and not against her philosophy it's altruism that she is opposed to
So being rational means making decisions based on anecdotal evidence and rejecting the opinions of experts? Hmm. Dagny's speech reminds me of Tom Cruise of the Today Show: "I studied the history of psychiatry ... I know". LOL
@TheOosterhouse Nicely put! Two ad hominem attacks CLEARLY outweigh a 1000 page book and it's effects on hundreds of thousands, if not millions. You are truly an intellectual giant.
Kudos! Good job for the non brain-dead!

She is a megalomaniac. She values her own non-expert opinion over those of multiple experts. Just like Hitler always 'knew' he was right.

Ugh, we don't need all this elaborate crap to illustrate Ayn Rand. Her philosophy was just "Fuck you, I've got mine."

@couldcause Her attitude is a classic example of 'a little knowledge is a dangerous thing'.
Much like Rand's philosophy.

I didn't think it was possible but this movie looks even worse then the book. Ayn Rand is a hack and her followers are small minded morons.
