Very well done. I like the spirit behind this form. I've been reading some of the other comments as well about you being off balanced, but I only saw that in a couple of areas in the form. I believe overall you have great balance and athleticism and at the very least an excellent grasp of the arts. I plan on creating a few forms based off my studies of various arts and combining them into what I feel helps me articulate the movements and applications.
put on some martial arts clothes and it would look 50x better wen i think of kung fu i need the look of the person to go along with it or it dont feel right
we dont stop to think that someone created the forms that have lasted so long. and martail arts in general have changed so much over the past 50 years from Bruce lee braking limitations on the mind to even MMA. To me its an art, simple as that, who is to say what works and dose not. its a such for ones soul.....on a funny note i feel you dident put a shirt on for the babes lol :P
all classical martial arts came from making a form like the one you did. and a made up art like kung fu isn't sacred in the sense of unchangeable, it's an expression of human need and creativity. To create and change is sacred.
good physique but your balance appears off throughout most of the form, it is interesting that you created your own form, and quite admirable. However, i feel that traditional forms help keep the sanctity of the art and exercise in better harmony with your balance and coordination through hundreds of years of tailoring than one you make up with only several years or decades of experience.
@ragingstorm33 precisely, art is art expressed by people over time in different ways. i was only saying that "if" you are learning to imitate an art through martial arts, just as you would translate a poem from one language to another, it is best to keep the meaning (or form) the same. preaching learning teaching training practicing etc... it is not important what I chose to do more than the others.
I was skeptical at first but you look like you have a good idea of what you are doing. and had some kind of background. Definately Chang quan inspired,
I am seeing a lot of crane influence. Are you a crane stylist? I am in 5 animals myself, specialize in Dragon. I like the form (a little "jumpy" for me, but you do it well). Just curious to what style you primarily study. Keep up the good work!
No i have never studied one specific animal style, but have been taught some forms with a minor mix of tiger and crane.
I wasn't aware of, that my form had that many movements resembling the Crane style. LOL nice, thanks for making me aware of it.
Many years ago, i studied under a instructor, who taught Jing Wu and Hung Gar, but i only learned the Tan Tui form, and some different drills from Hung Gar.
I didn't stay long enough to learn any Hung Gar forms. (i didn't like the teachers lack of respect towards other martial arts, and he acted like he was the all knowing father, who didn't posses any flaws...)
There's a saying going: "Even the monkey in its true element, sometimes fall"
Today i´m a little sad that i didn't stay longer and learned some of the Hung Gar forms. (some of my friends did though)
Ah wushu, I should have known. So are there applications to the techniques in this form? Modern wushu is more of a sport, demonstrative. Tai Chi, however, is great for applications and self defense. Look into self defense applications and keep up the hard work!
hehe yes, every time i put some new movements/techniques to the form. I think of different applications, which i can apply to them.
Even in the start sequence, (from 0,03 to 0.08) there are several applications, to be found. (Although some of them would probably, be to difficult to apply to a real situation.)
It is my experience that if one, have enough knowledge and imagination, when it comes to techniques/applications, there are several possibilities in even the most simple techniques.
You are actually quite right. Simple forms often have the most applications and also work best in real life situations. My style of kung fu focuses on efficient and effective technique. In future forms, maybe you should try this idea as well, for your own knowledge and discovery in the art. You are finding out that many forms have multiple different interpretations, use this kind of knowledge to further your martial understanding and find true combat effectiveness as well! respect!
Good philosophy. Martial arts is all about learning about yourself. Not others. "He who overcomes others is strong. He who overcomes himself is mighty." As they say. I'm a novice in martial arts. Took some taichi but found it wasnt to my tastes. Hoping to mix what I learned with the long fist style (that I'm trying to find a teacher for). Keep going!
Pretty good sequence! Im sure these were techniques from your other forms that you combined into your own, if so i've done that as well with the tiger fist, and it shows one has a general understanding of Chinese Pugilism because they realized how to combine techniques on their own. By continuous practice, one should eventually understand how moves connect to one another no matter the style or form. Eventually one should be able to move freely in a continuous manner of defence.
man, you're full of yourself. you were off-balance, unrooted and disconnected for the bulk of the form. this sequence truly was "brocade arm, flower legs". i agree, you would do well to start training in tai chi, and get a sense of those things.
Care to explain...? Everybody who knows me, think that i'm down to earth, i'm a considerate person, who have a humble view on life/people and myself.
Question! Is there something wrong about being proud of what you do? Is there something wrong about, showing your stuff to others, even though it may not be that grand or spectacular...?
sorry but i dislike this form not because of the movements but because there is no focus in them u need to express ur self that way ur form becomes truly unique thats my advice and practice
Well i guess you must mean something more like.: "That you dislike my way of performing the form, due to lack of focus, or whatever..." (my way of performing the form, has nothing to do with the form itself) ;-)
First, there is focus in most of my movements.
but/and yes! i do also lack in focus sometimes in this performance. That may be explained due to the fact, that this video weren't meant for, as an exhibition video.
This video where "shot" as a practise video, for myself, so i could see how i perform the form...
Sadly i have stopped my training about 4-5 years ago... so this recording of the form, is the only one i got. But i thought that it could be fun to upload it anyway, for others to see.
I'm already aware of, the importance of having focus in your eyes and movements. But thanks anyway for your advice. :-)
Well... So far, I have stopped my training. Its been about 4 years ago, since i last trained seriously. When i intend to pick up my training again, it will be on a moderate level, and mostly Tai chi. I'm almost certain that i wont be competing again.
In "all" the clubs i have been training, my sparring skills, have been among the top students, whether it was Tai Chi, Karate or kickboxing for that matter. 1
Nice vid. Looks very Wushu-ish. I like that you made your own form though. I've thought about doing that with the style I train in (Hung Gar). A lot of students don't try to break out of the mold that their own forms put them in, and they only practice A-B-C-etc for life. Well done!
Hi, and sorry for the late reply... Thanks a lot for your comment. Well martial arts is partly about, developing your body & mind. And i think that by putting yourselves into a creative state of mind, where you have to think in other ways/"create new moves" (Moves that either looks like a certain style, or are brand new, and are both defensive & offensive.) Well i believe that, that is a very important part of the process, on the path of development and being/becoming a "true warrior". 1
It's inspired by my kung fu training. Some of the moves are slightly altered, from what i have already learned before... And some of the moves, i have made up myself, along with the choreography too.
awesome man im working on my own form...

Thanks. You're not the first, to point out the off balance thing... :-)
Its funny, because i didn't feel off-balance during the form, except after the kick, when i go to the squatting position.(0:22)
I would mainly agree with you, about sticking/staying to the tradition. Both out of respect, but also because of the many years behind...
But please read my reasoning for doing so, further down in my comment to "Evilbile" ("1-2" years ago), and to "pistol975" (7 months ago).

But the keyword here is "simple".
Usually: "The most simple... Is the most effective." (but still i find it interesting/fascinating to see how complex, they also can be)
To me, the most interesting kind of martial arts training, is when form and application works in higher unity (symbioses)
Studying the applications to the form, gives you a higher understanding of the form itself, and what you are doing.
Like studying the origin of a word.
(2b)
skytte71 3 years ago
It kind of, goes with the saying: "To know the future, you must know the past."
Even though that modern Wu Shu is more of a sport, they still have their origin, in the more functional sides/aspects of martial arts.
The movements/techniques are just performed differently, whether they are performed in a selfdefendable or exhibitional way.
Whether or not one thing is more effective, then another... Depends on what we emphasize on, in our training.
Things are what we make them to be. ;-)

My earlier comments speak nothing else then the truth. Have you at all, read them properly, before commenting?
If you had done just a tad of research... You would have found out that i already have trained Tai Chi before.
To your information, i assisted my Tai Chi teacher for 5 years, and had "my own" class once a week.

In the beginning you learn the basics and follow "the footsteps" of the elder, to become like the elders...
Later you go your own ways, and make your own footsteps, to become your own true self. Become the best YOU can be.
If people weren't to break out of the mold, as you yourself put it. Well... then we would all just be like robots.
But i also think that it should be done in a proper and respectful way.
Peace and take care :-)
